Brenda, you're right. I got my cities mixed up. MI folks are being sent to Toledo, not Dayton. My goof. But the date is correct....at least for mid-MI. I'm not sure how big the convention site is and if it would hold all of the typical MI crowd.

What to wear to the District Convention
by sass_my_frass ini'm just gearing up to head off to the district convention.
i was worried about the shunning thing but then realised, how about i just don't wear the uniform, and dress like a study instead?
with a wig and sunnies none of my people will notice me, and strangers will treat me nicely and share their sandwiches and offer me bible studies.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were instructed to follow anybody who isn't dressed "theocratically" i.e, no denim, etc.
I guess they were afraid I might be an apostate!!!When I was assigned security detail several years ago, that is what we had to do. If someone appeared to be worldly by their dress, we had to 'tail' them to make sure they wouldn't cause a scene. We were also told that if someone started shouting or doing something "apostate" in nature, that we were to escort them outside - but we could not grab them or force them out. We had to lead with one outstretched arm and just touch them on their back. But we always had to stay right behind them so they wouldn't duck away!
Secuity was fun. No special "Attendant" tag sticking out behind our lapel badge. Instead we got these little stickers placed on the backside so when you were to flip up your badge it would show. Those little stickers got you into any room, hallway, or elevator on-site. We actually felt like we were part of the WTS CIA branch.

Do you know when they stopped using the Silverdome?
Last year. Thank god.(not like I really care anymore) But the one time I did go there for a DC, it was painfully hot inside with no A/C. I couldn't figure out why on earth they didn't turn on the cooling. They had some sort of ventilation fans running, but hot air that is circulated is still just hot air.
Another time I went(motocross), it was nice and cool. Go figure. They would probably be charged more for the facility if it included A/C.

Seems there are no more conventions in Janesville Wisconsin just in Green Bay Wi. When did that change?
They held DC's in Janesville too? At the Assembly Hall? I only ever remember going there for the CA's, never a DC.

How good are digital voice recorders?
by IP_SEC inhas anyone used the digital voice recorders on the market?

I've got three different mechanisms to record voice and one of them beats all. Comparing my tape vs. digital recorder, the tape beats it easily. I had thought the digital one would be a great replacement for the tape recorder, but the quality sucked. It is easy to transfer the voice content to the computer though(my tape recorder doesn't even have a line output). But I don't use the digital one anymore. Now, I use a software program that works nicely on my PDA(winmobile03) called Resco Audio. It can record with various settings including recording directly as an MP3 file. I could record an entire 3-day assembly on my 1-gig SD storage card with plenty of room left over. And the sound quality is excellent. It also records well through clothing(trait of the PDA's built-in mic). You could also plug in a wired microphone if you had to for better pickup.
I'd say if you have a PDA, use the Resco utility. Otherwise, check out some tape recorders that have line outputs to be able to dump into your computer....if that is what you are looking to do.

"Theocratic Warfare" - An Apostate Strategy?
by slimboyfat inwho here had ever heard of this so-called 'doctrine' of "theocratic warfare" when you were a jehovah's witness?
who has not heard of the so-called doctrine now that you are an apostate?
so why have witnesses never heard of 'doctrine', yet apostates seem to promote it as the last word on witness standards of honesty, integrity and decency?

Also, I know for a fact that the elders get a different letter with more information than the ones that are read to the congregation or letters the congregation never see or know of. Why? Because the publishers don't need to know.
A perfect example of this was the donation arrangement. The KM simply mentioned "simplification." Whereas in the letter to the elders, it specifically mentioned the court case in Califiornia(Swaggart) as being the impetus for the change. Why they would even clue the elders in is a mystery to me. Elders can blab just like the rest of them.

But i did read in Crises of con. that they are gearing up all the JW to start to think about Noah and the 40 days or it could be 120 days he preached for.
I hadn't heard about this in CoC. Did Ray actually append this statement in the latest version of the book?

There is nothing of significance with the year 2014 officially. Although, many people in the world celebrate and mark special anniversaries on centennial long dates. Many news articles will speak about such-and-such happening 100 years ago on "this" date. It is simply a way of easily remembering some event that took place many years ago.
Now with 1914, seeing that it is soooooo closely tied to "biblical prophecy," it will probably be a mentally grievous year once we reach 2014 for the witnesses. So many JW's up to that point have looked forward to the earth's destruction in their lifetime that when 2014 hits and armageddon has not happened yet, they will start to feel let down. Many are already feeling that way now, but it will probably be even more so in another 9 years.

You might be a JW if....."redneck"-style JW joke posted on JW web site
by rebel8 ini ran across this today and got a good laugh out of it.
:) the following is jeff foxworthy's "you might be a jehovah's witness if...".
if "pioneer" is not a stereo, "new light" is not something in the house wares department and "tract" has nothing to do with land or farming.. .

This is not from JF. A JW made these up as a joke. It has been circulating in JW email boxes for the last few years.
