funny, i could say the same thing about this "joke", valis.
um. sirius. two young women should not have to forgo maintaining a lucrative career in order to avoid being objectified.

they're not effing porn stars, they make CHILDREN'S MOVIES.
These girls must like the attention, else they would have crawled off by now and bought their own little country.
that sounds like the justification so many rapists have used....she WANTED it, for the love of god you should have seen how she was DRESSED.
and valis, maybe they wouldn't allow their publicists, etc to portray them in this way if it weren't essential to their careers that they look sexually appealing. which just goes back to my point that our society is encouraging young women to see themselves as worthwhile only as sexual objects.
i'm seriously completely sickened by the turn this thread has taken.

Thats where the joke is. Its not about "I'm a dirty old man drolling waiting for a girl to turn 18 so I can jump her". Thats just not funny.
it's not funny, and it happens to be a reality that young women face. the view that young women are little more than sexual objects is becominging increasingly accepted in our culture. i have no doubt that there are a great deal of men out there that do not take the same view that you have to this appalling 'joke' website. the fact that these girls are celebrities makes it no less appalling, to me.

Tink because of the views you have you would be the perfect person to have children. We need more mothers who would instill the right values in their sons & daughters.
xena, thank you for the vote of confidence. i respect you very much, so that means a lot to me.

um, crazy, CHILDREN should not have to deal with that. period. maybe if YOU have a problem with that, you should move someplace where the age of consent is like 12. and trust me, considering some of the ridiculously TACKY shit i've put up with from dudes, i'm sure i'd be perfectly content to live somewhere where i didn't have to deal with it.

Oh no, i'm not mad at you at all, stef! the whole issue just makes me feel a bit heartsick.
and totally convinces me to never have children.

Crazy, i'm afraid i couldn't even tell you where that is. i tend to steer clear of bars and clubs for the most part. there are just too many people out there with bad intentions, and i tend to be too naive when it comes to that sort of thing.
stef, they may know they are being gawked at, but it doesn't mean that they like it. i guess i just wish i lived in a world where a girl can be a GIRL and not an object of fantasy.

Tink, I noticed when you used to post more, various different older men making revealing comments to you. I felt the same way about it as this idea of grown men drooling over the Olson girls. I wish they would learn that some thoughts would be better left unsaid
flyin - and by all means, i certainly take partial responsibility for that here; i probably should never have had my picture up here in the first place, and on top of that i have a naturally flirtatious personality. as i grow older, i'm learning that i have *some* control over how i am perceived, and i'm weilding that power to my benefit.
however, in real life this is something that i've had to deal with every day for quite some time. when i was about fourteen i used to walk home from school, and i had to stop because there was a man who started following me home every day, and tried to get me to get into his car etc etc etc. and it was AWFUL, and i felt like i was prey being stalked. i imagine if i were mary kate or ashley olson, i'd feel humiliated and appalled by this whole thing.

personally i don't watch any of that shit. i couldn't care less about how much they made last year or that their favorite color is purple. i don't have to watch a program detailing the intimate details of their lives to get the fact that they're human beings; girls only a few years younger than myself.

Celebrities are glossed over and from our viewpoint, are 2D
maybe that's part of the problem.
they're not fictitious characters. they're real people.
Of course, a countdown is distasteful, but its actually a joke.
so that makes it ok?!?!?
no one is denying that eighteen year old girls can be beautiful. no one is being stupid enough to say that men can never find teenage girls attractive. the point is that drooling over them like a mongrel about to pounce on a choice piece of meat is pretty revolting.
