Hello, fellow Ohioan - I live in southeast Ohio. :)
2 hours isn't too bad. I think if you make the move, you'll still be able to visit home frequently. Best of luck with your choice and your interview!

my employers' intranet website recently posted for a position located in cincinnati (which is about a 2 hour drive from columbus, where i live).. the requirements/skills listed on the posting seemed right up my alley, so i submitted my app online.
today i get an email from the hr lady asking me when i can interview.. i'm so nervous about this!
i've never lived far from home, and i'm very close with my family, to be honest they're all i've got, i don't have friends or a social circle to speak of.

dear brothers,
Wow... had me until the "changing doctrine" line... but my jaw was hanging open until then. Scary.

Back to school for me too... yaayyyyy....
are new year's resolutions of "pagan origin"?
or do they just not do it because wordly people do it?
just curious.
Thanks for all the responses. What's funny to me - having grown up as a non-Witness with many Witness friends - is that is was the WITNESS youth who introduced me to drinking and partying! go figure. :)

it's been a long time since i last posted here.
most of you probably don't remember me, but i'm a non-jw who has a very dear friend that is married to a jw.
this morning my friend called me.
Out of curiousity...
What kind of paperwork does one need to do to have that directive? Does it have to be authorized, or can it just be written and given to someone for safe keeping? I and my family are non-JWs, husband is an inactive JW... but his parents are still 100% in the faith, so I wouldn't want them making the decision.
Also - when it's critical, don't they automatically give you the blood unless you have a directive that says NOT to? Or do they wait and ask someone? And why would parents necessarily have that authority over adults?
Just curious. Scary thoughts.

... My (inactive-dub) hubby and I want to make shirts that say "Pagans Have More Fun". ha ha.

i remember when i started mingling with the jw's in the mid 80's, they said that it was too late in this system to have children.
the great tribulation just around the corner made it a bad idea to have children, they said.. today with just about "zero increase" having children is a way of ensuring future witnesses.
i didn't set foot in a kh in 2 years, but if i remember well, the only new faces i saw were children that became adults.. i wonder if they still discourage witnesses from having children...or do they see it as something good now, since not many are joining?
Don't know what the official word is, but the three young newlywed JW couples I know all plan on having children in the next couple years.

let's see if i can explain this a little better.
i actually went to meeting two weeks ago (husband is an inactive dub, and we went to oblige his family while we were home visiting on a school break) -- the brother giving the talk is brand new to the area.
he is from tennesse, although i'm not sure where.
... Stinking computer! as I was saying...
Stephanus: You are right, he did not give out any URLs. I don't know about the other people, but it made me want to jump online right away. I would think that playing the Internet up as forbidden might make it even more appealing... but who knows...
