Yeah, being half raised in the truth can sometimes be worse than being completely immersed in the truth. Those half raised kids, at least in our KH were always looked upon with a closer eye. Even though, theretically, those half raised kids should be given the most attention, however they are oftne ignored and cut our of events. If you have a nuclear family, both parents in the truth, go to every single meeting, field service at least once a week, you will be fine. Otherwise, I found that you are most often labled a freak. The one good things, even though more painful, is the fact that you might see the hypocrisy sooner, and escape that much sooner.

I going to picket my parents convention this weekend!
by Atilla inok, my parents have pissed me off so much with their denial and their refusal to even acknowledge my complaints against the borg.
they pretend everything is perfect at the kingdom hall and expect me to play nice to their dub friends so as to protect their own reputation.
this weekend in philadelphia, they are going to to their little convention and i have some evil thoughts.

Hey Sword of Jah,
Do you want to come with me, I could use an assistant. We could shame our selves together
I know some people say move on and I actually am very close to moving on, this site has helped very much. To picket a convention might be one of the last things I need to do in order to feel completely free.

When I was a good little dub pioneer: lived in PA and got as far as Virginia until age 21, really knew my way around my county and my one horse town though.......
After gaining my independence:
took a road trip to Key West
backpacked around Western Europe for 2 months and visited England, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Canada-oh, wait that was just a girl from Canada, never mind
flew out to Maui and got married, on the way back, drove up the California coast
I've seen a little but as soon as I become a teacher in two years, I plan to dust off my passport and really start seeing some places.

Ok, my parents have pissed me off so much with their denial and their refusal to even acknowledge my complaints against the borg. They pretend everything is perfect at the Kingdom Hall and expect me to play nice to their dub friends so as to protect their own reputation. This weekend in Philadelphia, they are going to to their little convention and I have some evil thoughts. Everyone from my old KH will be there along with my parents and I'm thinking it may be time to crash the party.
So, anyone here ever picket a convention? How close can I get, what should I put on my picket sign, where can I get one of those bull horns, anyone want to join me? I'm thinking about driving down this Friday early morning and having some fun. Another funny thing is that the convention is a some rinky dink convention hall on or near Temple University and is Thur.-Sat not Fri.-Sun. My dad doesn't work during the summer but I can only imagine the typical dub having to take off an extra day of work just to attend. Anyways, I'll let everyone know if I decide to go and if I do, I will take plenty of pictures on my digital camera.

Just got back from the YMCA
by Atilla ini went to the y last night just to relax and go swimming.
the y near my house is pretty clean and after 8 p.m., not very crowded.
i find it very relaxing to go work out, play basketball, go swimming and then sit in the sauna after a long shower.

....Df us for a YMCA membership for health reasons
for health reasons, not sure I understand, I always thought the objection to the Y were the religions connections and association.......

Were You Treated With Respect When Counseled By The Elders?
by minimus ini knew a certain few elders that really got off by "talking down" to the "flock".
many elders were pretty nice guys but a few could turn----just like that!
what was your experience with "those taking the lead", the "loving shepherds"???
-
Atilla
I was only counseled once but that was enough, never went back after that. So, I guess the elders screwed it up, otherwise I might still be a dub.

In the aftermath of our shattered faith, for those who also wonder.....
by Frannie Banannie init's been over 12 yrs since my df'ing.
yes, i forced 'em to do it for what i know now were pointless reasons....but mainly, at the time, i thought it was because the heirarchy of the wts doesn't measure up to scriptural standards....i wasn't wrong for they are very judgmental hate-mongers, manipulative and overbearing....but i've come to learn so much more..... .
after years of traumatic disillusionment, i've begun to wonder if there really is a god/goddess, etc....or is this a state of mind/belief system that mankind has created to explain the inexplicable, answer the unanswerable, to put a spiritual bandaid on the tortured in mind, body and/or spirit.....and yet, tho our bodies wear out eventually, we are wonderfully "made"....and so many things here on earth are sympatico with our human existence and temperament.....yet....at the same time, we have adverse reactions to many things, too, whether vegetable, animal, mineral or even spiritual.....is this all only a contrivance of our imaginings, the result of our teachings among ourselves?.

I wish I had time to wonder but I'm so busy trying to get an education and work at the same time. Maybe one day but perhaps I'm better off being busy.

I find it very relaxing to go work out, play basketball, go swimming and then sit in the sauna after a long shower. The best part is that my membership is free because my wife volunteers 4 hours a week there, so our entire family gets in for free. We've been taking our young child swimming there for aqua tots since he was like 8 months and my JW mom even went one time to see him swim. When I was at the Y last night, I just thought about how silly and controlling JW rules are and how glad I am to be out.
Anyone else, now that they are out, have a membership at the Y or any other forbidden places?

Your worst Watchtower Study ever?
by Celtic inwhat article was it when you were a witness that was the most complicated for you to understand?
i remember that there were a right few beaut's, dad being the wt conductor, of course we had to go through the finer detail getting to the most indepth meaning and how it linked up.
hmmmmmmm.. what was your worst watchtower study ever then?
-
Atilla
No WT study in particular but anything over 20 paragraphs always pissed me off. Sometimes there would be those studies with 24 paragraphs and the conductor would go over time.
