I don't remember my last house I called on either, I guess repressed memory or something or more likely no one was home. I do know that I went from pioneering and getting 70 hours a month to like 2 hours a month and then none. I sure faded fast. I think this is one of the reasons I totally lost interest. Before I knew anything else about the so called truth, I did realize it was kind of pointless to go out in service just 10 hours a week. What's the point, you can't really convert anyone with just 10 hours a week. Hey, most pioneers can't convert anyone with even 70 hours a week.

An odd experience I had the other day...............
by nicolaou inmy job took me to a residential part of town that i would never normally have any reason to go to.
i had to go to a specific address.
i found it quite easily and parked the car about twenty yards from the customers home.. i had a sense of deja vu - but an unpleasant and rather disturbing one.. i took a good look around me.

Will there be winter in the new system?
by Atilla inso much snow this winter, but it reminds me of the silly conversations we would have out in service about conditions in the new system.
this one guy, who thought he knew everything because he had been to bethel and had been pioneering since the 9th grade, was positive that there would be no winter in the new system.
his reasoning was that since the whole earth would be made into a paradise with perfect conditions, there would be no real cold places like russia or even central pennsylvania.

So, is everyone saying I shouldn't throw out my winter clothing just yet? I do think I will eventually move somewhere warmer though, maybe like Maui or Valencia in Spain.

I just wish I knew about this book 10 years ago, too bad they didn't hand this book out with the knowledge book or the proclaimer book when you go to get baptized. However, what is more suprising is how many active witnesses still don't know about this book or even what happened to Ray Franz. People are just in the dark, totally clueless.

I think this guy even tried to show me some scripture that backed up his claim-something he had learned at Bethel I guess. Did anyone else ever hear anything like this or any other crazy ideas about the future?

Hoping The Meeting is Cancelled
by roybatty ini'm sitting here at home in front the fire place, looking outside watching watching the snow fall.
not a blizzard but a pretty good snow fall for north-central illinois.
it feels great being at home on an evening like this, relaxing.

We have had a very bad winter here in PA but does that mean the dubs will cancel meeting, no, they don't care if you risk your life to drive to a stupid meeting. Even if school had been canceled this year because of the weather, my parents would still go to meeting, unbelievable.

Did you ever save anyones life?
by dh inif so, was it a stranger or was it someone you knew, and how did the relationship develop afterward?
i did once, a friend who was drowning, after the incident the friendship totally deteriorated and now whenever i think about it, i wonder why i bothered, it's difficult watching someone drown, especially when they shout your name instead of help.
anyway, anyone got any experiences to share?.

No, not literally, but I did help this one girl who had become a witness because of me become disallusioned after I stopped being a witness. Thus, in time she stopped being a witness, but her exit was far messier than mine. I guess you could say I almost ended her life by pushing her over the edge of the cliff but then kinda helped her out by catching her at the last moment. Thank goodness I didn't convert anyone else, or I would truly feel sorry, I would have to go back and warn them if I did.

anybody go to another church yet?
by littlemike inhaving left 18 months ago .
i still feel a spiritual need in the way that i do beleive there is a creator and after having done a lot of research on bible arecheaology i beleive the bible is correct.
however we have been taught so much dogma amongst christianity have any of you got to the point yet of going to any other religious meeting.

Maybe one day for strictly social reasons; i.e. funeral, wedding, etc but never for spiritual reasons. It is just silly to think that anyone else on this earth can tell you what your spiritual needs if any, are and what you should be doing to fulfill them. No one knows what happens to you when you die and no knows what's going to happen next, and if they do-they are lying.
Plus, I think I have wasted enough time already, like my entire youth, that I don't need to spend another frikin moment in church, regardless of denomination or creed.

Do you ever mention to anyone you were a JW ??? or keep it secret ???
by run dont walk in.
workmates, friends, school friends etc,.
do you ever mention it, or if someone asks you your religion, do you ever mention it, or keep it in your past ??

Atilla
Actually, when I was a witness, I tried to keep it a secret because then I felt I had to be someone I really wasn't. Although, now I don't mention it much because it's kind of embarassing, buy hey, as young child, I didn't know any better. At least I can say that for most of my adult life I haven't been a witness and that feels reassuring. However, sometimes if I do mention that I used to be a witness to either my friends or new people, they kinda feel sorry for me and show greater understanding. They are like, oh, that explains things. Plus, by telling others my sad story, those people I meet will be far less likely to give witnesses that knock on their door the time of the day or maybe they will even provide a counter witness. I'm kinda like a consumer who bought a product and relized how crapy and defective it was. The manufactorer won't let me return my product, so thus, I'm going to bad-mouth it whenever possible when that subject comes up. Pretty soon, people won't being buying that product anymore, i.e. watchtower lies.

What Is The Stupidest Rule You've Encountered As a Witness?
by minimus inone rule that i never could understand is that if you were studying with an unbelieving husband, you could associate with him, even as couples, but if a person was considered a "weak" witness, it was best to avoid any association until that person changed......what dumb rule or belief comes to your mind??

R-rated movies and even some PG-13 movies were totally off limits.
One time an elder tried to have a conversation with me about it because he found out that I went go see the Matrix, oooh, how bad.
My response was does that mean I can't watch Schindler's List either because it's R-rated, and then he didn't really have anything to say about that. I just continued to watch
whatever I wanted, except now I had to be sneaky about it.
Another one was why sisters had to sit down when they gave talks and then give the same talks about unrealistic situations.

Sounds like fun with all the activities and the nudity, but too bad religion is involved. I wonder if you would get in trouble for checking people out being that it is a religious nudist colony. This is something I might sign up for if you didn't drag God into it.
This country is just way too religious, no wonder the dubs got started here in the first place.
There's not too many nudity colonies here in PA but it might just be too cold anyways. Maybe I will start my own nudist colony.
