It was a regional convention, and they still had the baptism talk. They even announced for candidates to sit in the front row, but there weren't any.
The speaker just did his thing and ended it without going through any questions.
dragged to the convention, the speaker was from the canada bethel.. one of his talks went into the refugees not being welcome, and some countries attitude toward foreigners in general, and even mentioning acts of genocide.. he contrasted this with the bible, and showed the scripture where israelites were to be kind to other nationalities living among them(there is a verse that says that).. i don't think he gave the complete picture though, as israel also practiced genocide.. then jehovah said to me, ‘see, i have already begun to give siʹhon and his land over to you.
start to take possession of his land.’ 32 when siʹhon came out along with all his people to meet us in battle at jaʹhaz, 33 jehovah our god handed him over to us, so that we defeated him, his sons, and all his people.
34 we captured all his cities at that time and devoted every city to destruction, including men, women, and children.

Freddo - 14 years? I didn't think it's been that long!
Just going along for family, not in service and not many meetings.
At my age they just leave you alone anyway.

Should also mention, attendance around 600.

(that's from Deut 2:31-34, and not the only example for sure)
are they pretty much left alone?
are they respected for their having been elders at one time?
are they treated like crap?.
In our circuit many of the congregations have more ex-elders than current ones.
This has even been mentioned from the platform, but no one is reaching out. (That I know of)
In our area it's mostly the elders who gave the most interesting talks that have stepped down.
I'm sure some at least are PIMO.
I think part of the reason is congregations were renovating fairly often (at least in this area).
There were lots of RBC projects every year, and all the money was raised and spent locally.
i can imagine that was a rather enticing target for headquarters, and now there are almost no projects going on.
i know you'll be involuntarily disassociated if you unrepentantly accepted a blood transfusion; and i know you'll be disfellowshipped for apostasy if you openly disagreed with watchtower teaching.
what if you have done none of the above but simply respectfully refused to fill out the dpa without giving any reason for your refusal - so they can't accuse you of openly disagreeing with the no-blood doctrine and df you for apostasy.
they don't know why you're refusing and you're not giving them the reason - and you're being very respectful.. what can they do?.
I know some give a duplicate copy to the congregation secretary, but I've never heard it being required or even encouraged to have your card on file.
Maybe it varies in different areas?
chapter 16. the tour .
my three days of housekeeping duty were over and i reported to the bethel office the next morning.
it was customary then get a tour of both the factory and the bethel home.
Fascinating reading, thnx for sharing all the memories.
www.cultofweird.com/death/skull-of-mary-magdalene.what happen to jesus skull, did it travel to heaven???
search skull of mary magdalene/ cult of weird....also a piece of mary's skin is also on display, a piece of her skin was still attach to her skull and this is where jesus touched mary (nearly 2000 years ago)....
I would be very skeptical of any claims regarding artifacts like this. After one of the crusades (mentioned in a documentary), they somehow brought back 2 heads of John the Baptist.
i everyone, this is my new and first post.
i have like 4 years reading all the stuff in this forum and i like it!!!!
thank you for all your information that helped me to get out from the jwland.
Hola and welcome! Looking forward to hearing how things are there. For years now the story is always about the amazing growth in Mexico.
That judge is to be commended. I think when this issue comes up, a lot of parents are secretly relieved to have the decision made by someone else.
