by alliwannadoislive ing e lessing 1729 - 81. german dramatist and critic.
if god were to hold out enclosed in his right hand all truth, and in his left hand just the active search for truth, though with the condition that i should always err therin, and he should say to me: 'choose!

Your thoughts on how the WBTS would answer please ?

Enjoying the 5 senses
by joelbear inas many of you know, i struggle from time to time with depression and even suicidal thoughts.
i was thinking yesterday that the next time i get to feeling that way i would remember very simple things that bring me great joy and tie those to a sensory experience that i can bring up in my mind to remind me of how good life really is to snap me out of those deep foul moods.
so here are my 5.. taste -- the taste of my mother's pecan cookies warm out of the oven.. smell -- the smell of my yard after a spring rain.. sight -- the sight of the north georgia mountains' fall leaves.. sound -- the heart touching songs from les miserables.. touch -- the feel of getting my back scratched by mitch.. please feel free to add your 5.. hugs.

hey jolebare ...
i have no sense of smell - plus - i am hyper-sensitive to solvents - especially strong perfumes and aftershaves - the number of times i appealed to the elders to do something about the hideously overwhelming smell that emanated from that kingdom hall - especially thursday evenings - dripping with expensive (and cheap) manufactured smells they were ... what were they trying to cover up huh ? ... i always went home with a seriously bad headache ...
no more :)

An Internet Apostate
by Yadirf inan internet "apostate" is a person who delights in sowing discord on the internet.
s/he tries to start arguments and upset people.. apostates see internet communications services as convenient venues for their bizarre game.
for some reason, they don't "get" that they are hurting real people.

An Internet "witness" is a person who delights in sowing discord on the Internet. S/he tries to start arguments and upset people.
Witnesses see Internet communications services as convenient venues for their bizarre game. For some reason, they don't "get" that they are hurting real people. To them, other Internet users are not quite human but are a kind of digital abstraction. As a result, they feel no sorrow whatsoever for the pain they inflict. Indeed, the greater the suffering they cause, the greater their 'achievement' (as they see it). At the moment, the relative anonymity of the net allows witnesses to flourish.Witnesses are utterly impervious to criticism (constructive or otherwise). You cannot negotiate with them; you cannot cause them to feel shame or compassion; you cannot reason with them. They cannot be made to feel remorse. For some reason, witnesses do not feel they are bound by the rules of courtesy or social responsibility.
Perhaps this sounds inconceivable. You may think, "Surely there is something someone can write that will change them." But a true witness can not be changed by mere words.
hmm now thats interesting ... i'm sure i've seen these words before somewhere ...

we could pen descriptions of JWs and make it equally scathing - how many committed fornication ? lied ? smoked ? stole ? abused ? had blood ? ...
but what would be the point - people are people are individuals - we all are different and unique
small minded and petty religionists may well stereotype people - but they do so to their own peril - judge and be judged
how cool it is for us 'apostates' to be free of the narrow minded and bureaucratic straightjacket of an unkind and unloving religious harlot ...

FELLOWSHIP
by ricoananas ini've been reading lots of messages in just a few days of logging on to this site and have to say that in the beginning it was bothering me to still be doing the jw thing.
i dropped out after 25 years, the last 14 as an elder.
now, however, i'm beginning to realize that the posts have been giving me a feeling of fellowship with many people who have gone/are going through experiences similar to mine, a kind of fellowship that i rarely if ever felt being among other jw's.

yeah i agree 'the assembly hall' has gone into my document of quotes ...
howdy rico - everything you are saying is hitting nails for the rest of us - association in the kh is no association at all - you walk away from 100 people having spent two hours with them and you feel completely alone ...
not here - these people are insanely normal - they all understand the unique thought gymnastics we go through - and they are happy to share their own independant thinking with you - makes you feel like a human again, an individual who is worthy of consideration ...
welcome - i guess you're now one of us !
