How much would you say the average JW donates in $$$ ?????
by run dont walk inregarding donations, what would you say the average jw would donate in $$$ in a one year span.. some are richer then others, some have no children, some have 6 children, i imagine it would vary quite a bit.. so what would be a fair average, $1,000 / year per person ?????.
now when i say donation, i mean every dollar a person gives, this would include contribution boxes in the hall, assemblies, etc, donations for magazines, books, videos etc, every possible thing one would donate money to the watchtower for.. if $1000 a person is a fair number, then multiply it by 6,000,000.
= $ 6 billion dollars a year, nice scam watchtower.

During the 35 years I was associated I probably did not contribute in total more than $500. This amount does not include the money I spent when we had to pay for our lit. If we did a survey of those on the board I am sure that there were many like me.
May be that is why I am not missed...
I would concur, we never contributed much either. My wife pressured me to contribute or it would have been even less.
we at most contributed 40 bucks a month in all.

blaspheme the son of man
by peacefulpete inmark and q (mark knew q) include an expression that has perplexed theologians for centuries.
(mark 3:28,luke12:10,matt 12:32) that asserts, "everyone that speaks a word against the son of man will be forgiven, but he who blasphemes the holy spirit will not be forgiven".
mark adds the idea of eternity and matt paraphases him with "this age or that to come".

Did You Believe Either You Were Being "Blessed" or Being "Disciplined"?
by minimus in.
many jws feel that either god is blessing them or allowing them persecution or in fact causing discipline upon them.
what did you think when something good or bad happened to you??

I know most of you believe this belief is hogwash but did you accept these thoughts as JWs?
I had some doubts but for the most part I did accept it. I always felt something was phony about the whole deal. Why God picked a chooses so flippantly who he would help and how and then the fact that most if not all things he supposedly had a hand in could just be happenstance or just the goodness in people coming out and helping others, not because God himself had a hand in it.

Does the Bible scare anyone else here sometimes?
by missy04 inmaybe i'm just messed up, but i get really freaked out sometimes.
i can't understand the bible,.....in some places it seems like it's saying all you have to do is one or two things, then it seems like it's saying you have to do different things to be saved.... so many different people and religions have so many different takes on the bible.
i don't know which to beleive, and it scares me that if i beleived the wrong thing that i could go to hell, or just go to sleep forever as the witnesses say.

How is it you base this assumption. Is it possible in your opinion that Jehovah uses other groups as well? If not why not? If the FDS has taught doctrine that later turned out to be wrong and even DFed those who disagreed with those doctrines that later turned out to be wrong what would this make them guilty of?? Running ahead of Jehovah maybe? Being presumpteous?
Assuming to know the will or mind of God and claiming to be "directed by God" and then being wrong is not something to be taken lightly.
Those claiming to be the FDS assume they have the right to destroy lives, families and friendships on "their" interpretataion of scripture which changes at will is not being humble at all in IMO.
What is your definition of "spirit directed" and how does it differ from "being inspired"?
Would God use an "uninspired prophet" to declare his destruction/annihilation of all those who do not listen to this "uninspired prophet" and believe/teach everything they teach as present truth?
I would really like to hear your answer to these questions as they are questions have/am searching for myself.
Thank you,
Tor

THERE IS ONLY ONE SIN
by Terry inoscar wilde said, "there is no sin except stupidity".. however, i heard a better one the other day that got me thinking.. i wish i could remember who said it.. it went something like this.
there is only one sin and that is "theft".. all else is a variation.. 1.if you murder a man you steal all he has and all he is ever going to have.
2.when you lie you steal another person's right to hear and know the truth.. 3.when you fail to honor parents or god you steal from them the respect due them for giving you life and for enabling you to flourish.. you get the idea.. would you agree that there is only one sin: theft?.

If somebody steals/withholds from you first, is it stealing if you withhold the same thing from them which they stole from you?

I imagine it could be in most cases. Unless it was sex. Tor
