What did people do before they had computers?
by ball. injust got my 5th computer on my home network, but i've wired this one up next to my other base unit with a belkin kvm switch box so i can actually control two of them at the same time.
i'm pretty pleased with the result.
i have to run netlimiter which is a really cool app.

What are the flaws of this forum?
by Vita Nuova inas much information, insight and entertainment this forum provides, some things about its format and design have come to annoy me.
let me start by saying that i think one of the biggest weaknesses of this forum may be the active topics option at the top.
it seems to me that some people may use this option just to see which topics are still alive.

Our time here is relative. To say it is wasted is an oxymoron, yes I thought it was wasted at first. But I now I have a different view of the whole universe.

ok...
Well, do you want to spend the rest of your life thinking you've wasted it? When are are you going to stop thinking you've wasted it? In 70 years time, just in time to die, or what about, errr, now?
Your old life made you what you are today. And are you proud of what you are now? You should be.

So why can one Jehovahs Witness like me wake up one morning at age 33 and go to college, and get an education and work for IBM as a system security expert having wasted all of his years pioneering. Sheesh. In a country where compulsory education ends at 16.

waste
waste, mate, thats the thing we all feel. But waste doesn't actually exist does it? Something wasted is just in your mind. You only exist in the here and now and how you feel is just how you want to. A bit deep I know. But thats how I get through. Time is only serial to us. Past is something which doesn't exist anymore in a serial perspective.

I agree, on-line communities are very interesting in their own right and are, indeed, studied by sociologists.
I too, have posted very deep theological threads that have been almost ignored.
Posting to a community such as this can be like going into a bar full of random people, and shouting something out to see what responses you get if any, or a punch maybe.
And the lack of body language can lead to many misunderstandings.

I'm not sure what the maximum available is but a common configuration for power users is currently a matched pair of two 512k SIMMs giving you 1 GIG of memory. Most users won't need that much. Standard motherboards have 4 slots, so that configuration would leave you with 2 spare slots. Upgrading is possible, but if you really care about performance, don't mix manufacturers or memory speeds. If you mix old and new memory, it will all work at the lower speed.

Sure, stilla
I agree.
The British humour though can be very ironic and there is nothing more ironic than turning such a thread as this into a list of jokes, all be it silly humour. I can certainly asure everyone that no-one is trying to piss any one off here.
