When we were skint at college we needed a drink that would get the results really quickly. We drank what's called a "Dogs Nose". A pint of bitter, sup the top off and put a double gin in it. Geez, 2 of them and your seeing double.
These days we are far more civilized, we drink what we call "Hilda Ogdens" (Coronation Street). It's really a Brandy Alexandra. Brandy, fresh cream and a splash of ameretto. Too decadent!

To be honest when I was in the Org, having Jehovah and angels around didn't do me much good, so having left and replacing them with Satan and his demons I feel a lot better - in mind and spirit. No contest really.

Here in Birmingham the roads were a sheet of ice, the rain washing the salt away then tempretures plunging, it all froze solid. I left work at 5.30, to drive the 4 miles home. It took 3 hours. It was all gridlocked. Some people here didn't get home from work until the early hours of the morning.

when i was a kid i was scared shitless of demons.
a couple of years ago i posted this subject, and some asswipes just suggested that i was just a scared little boy and that i should have just kept a stiff upper lip.. i was raised in this crappy religion and i recall that from the very beginning, i was told that demons were always around me.
i remember as a young child, i was told of stories of children that would go to bed and feel the edge of their bed go down slowly as a demon sat on the edge of the bed, ready to do whatever eveil they had planned for the evening.
When I was growing up in the 70's the demonic theme seemed to be thriving and I was scared witless. I too have felt demons at the end of the bed, watching, taunting. There always seemed to be a experience in the congregation about someone who come into contact, while witnessing, with someone who had demons helping them or that they belonged to a coven or some such. Or the story of buying something secondhand and it bringing demons into the house, they figure out what it is and take it out of the house and try to burn it but it won't burn, or ir screams as it is burning. Dangerous and harmful stories to children.
But looking back from the safety of adulthood and being out of the faith for 20yrs and I agree with Sirona, you make your own demons. The whole thing is a ruse to keep you scared and too terrified to step outside the Org. In my case it was all in my own head brought on by Witness urban myths and a wild imagination. Nothing scares you more than yourself. The fear of something is always more scarey than the reality (I my experience).

In the depths of winter, you can't beat a bit of Old Slug by the RCH Brewery, followed closely by Burton Bridge Porter. In the summer I switch to perry or cider, the drier and stronger the better.
