Hunyadi, yes, there is racial prejudice within the org. Like you, I personally knew of such experiences and it never has left my memory. It does exist but then again, it's not longer shocking to me.

by Doubtfully Yours ini just got this thought that we're like a huge soap opera to god and other spiritual beings.
if the almighty makes it all perfect and joyful, then how the heck will he/they get entertained?!.
in other words, the almighty powers that be aren't interested in the least bit in making things happy and perfect for all because we're like a huge spectacle for them to watch for ever and ever.. alright, there goes my sanity for today.. dy

Why does it have to be gay "marriage?"
by spiritwalker ini know this a hot topic, but i had some thinking on it i wanted to discuss.
to begin, i have nothing against a gay man or lesbian woman and consider many to be friends.
i would also like to express from the beginning in plain thought, "i think gay unions should be legal and do not see why it matters.".

Firstinline, Jesus knew the rich man couldn't keep the law. The Law was a tudor leading to Christ. Only Jesus could fulfill the law. James 2:10 says, For whoever observes all the Law but makes a false step in one point, he has become an offender against them ALL." Jesus could have a called the rich man a liar but he didn't.
About turning the other cheek, Jesus didn't say anything about the third slap. Remember, Jesus did whip the hell out of the money changers in the temple, didn't he. Paul said, " ...as far it depends upon YOU, be peaceable with all me." Romans 12:18. Human imperfection gives us plenty of room for error and forgiveness.

i know we all have differing views, but i'm interested in knowing what impression it left you.
for me, i went in with a critical eye and i was emotionally detached from the movie.

Talesin, I tend to lean in the direction of your comment, "...the film is a reaction to anit-American and anti-Christian sentiment which has been growing for decades..."
I have a non-Christian acquaintance that will be seeing the movie in a couple of days and I'm interested in getting his reaction. Thus far, I have remained neutral. I think there's more to this film than meets the eye. I've listened to his interviews and I get the feeling that something is missing.

Anyone see Passion of the Christ yet?
by astridkittie ini went to see it thursday... and i must say... this movie had me sobbing from grief and shock.
it really opened my eyes to what jc went through.
you know, you always hear about him being beat 68 times with a cat of nine tails but then you look at the picture of a man with some criss crosses on his back and it just doesn't click with you that 68 times should be alot worse than that picture... when i came home after that, it was all i could do to restrain myself from burning every picture of him like that in every publication in my house, and i wouldn't have restrained myself if those publications were mine, but they're all my dub grandmother's, and i'm sure i would've been accused of having a demon in me if i had, lol.
