Spriitwalker, what or who are you responding to? You've got me puzzled.

I'm currently registered as a Democrat; that's just so I can vote in the primary elections. Back in 2000 I was registered in the Republican Party (because I wanted to vote for John McCain in the 2000 Republican Presidential primary). In the November 2000 election I voted for all Democrat and Green Party candidates.
Which is my round about way of saying I have no party loyalty.
I think political parties try to polarize people using highly divisive issues like abortion, gay-marriage, and the war in Iraq, and the purpose of this attempted polarization is to disenfranchise the average potential voter who ends up not agreeing with either party platform and hence does not vote -- this keeps only the party loyalist voting and totally corrupts democracy.
I think the two-party political system is killing America.
As a way of post-script, spiritwalker, you really need to meet some more Democrats. As for them being "largely uneducated" I don't know where you get that from, except perhaps anecdotal information. I personally know dozens and dozens of democrats who hold Ph.D.s in everything from media analysis to geology and I will be one myself in a few years. (Not that I?m necessarily a Democrat.)
Since you're relatively new to the new political game, may I suggest a book for you to read? The author is Plato; the book is 'The Republic'. It's a fascinating look at what the role of the government should play in a free society. If you read that I'd also recommend reading 'The Prince', by Nicollo Machiavelli -- it is a brilliant political treatise.
I don't mean to talk down to you. For all I know, you've already read both of these books. I'm just recommending them if you haven't.

Jeepers there's a lot of Green support on this board, for a party you never hear anything about in the mass-media.

The Watchtower's Version of God
by Ariell init really bugs me when people say we've been brainwashed by the watchtower's version of god, but the fact of the matter is, the bible says what it says.
these acts of silliness, cruelty, and injustice are clearly stated.
jehovah's witnesses aren't the only ones disturbed by things they've read in the bible.

I agree with you Sphere, the arguments for some of the crimes against humanity that take place in the old testament are ridiculous at worst and contrived at best.
That's why in a similar thread a couple of days I ago I commented that the Gods of the new and old testaments seem to be completely different individuals -- maybe there's something to that. (Yes you could look at Revelation and say it's the same thing all over again; remember John was 90, isolated on the Island of Patmos and possibly crazy, when he wrote that book.)
Obviously from that statement you could infer that I do not think that all of the present "canonical bible" is actually the word of God. In fact, I think a lot of it is pure folklore.
I look at the God of Genesis and the God of the Gospels and come to the conclusion that these are clearly different dieties. (Or people have made them that way.)

Blondie you and I must have agreed on just about everything. Good to know I'm not the only "flaming liberal" on the board, lol.

I took the short test, which has seven questions. Ha, I had no idea I agreed with these parties:
Republican Platform: 1
Democrat Platform: 1
Libertarian Platform: 0
Green Platform: 5
I guess that kind of does make sense since I voted for Ralph Nader who ran for president for the Green Party in 2000. Jeepers I guess I'm a green, lol.

What One JW Belief Could You Never Totally Accept???
by minimus infor me it was that god will destroy billions of innocent children simply because their parents weren't jehovah's witnesses.....and you??
?

That the God of love was going to come back to earth and kill all of his children, unless they were baptized JW's in good standing! How insane is that anyway? Do you think the average person has any clue the Witnesses really and truly believe this?

I saw the Dawn of the Dead last night and let's just say I wasn't disappointed. In fact, it is in my opinion one of the best films in its genre produced in years.
Parts of the movie are just intentionally gut-busting funny (particulary the Jay Leno scene) and others are semi-scary. The plot pretty much follows that of the original, with a few major exceptions. The T&A quotient is definitely a lot higher in this version. I enjoyed it and will probably see it again . I just can't get enough of those zombies.
There's also a hilarious new version of Distrubs - Get Down With the Sickness.

Heathen, I'm with you on that. The way Resident Evil ended, that movie was just begging for a sequel. BTW the project is currently in post-production, titled Resident Evil: Apocalypse.
Milla Jovovich is returning to the role of Alice and Angela Witt is directing.
There's a trailer on the internet already. I don't know when the release date it.
This like might take you to the trailer: http://imdb.com/title/tt0318627/trailers-screenplay-X22767-10-2
Otherwise, just go to www.imdb.com and look up the new movie title and it's right there. The movie looks awesome. I didn't see a release date, besides sometime in 2004.

Anybody who seriously believes that Noah built an arch big enough to house two or seven of every species of animal (and supply enough food and potable water for all onboard) and then floated around for 40 days while it rained and then another 40 or something till the water subsided, seriously needs to stop taking all the folklore in the bible literally. It's a story! Just like Paul Bunyan and his big Blue Ox, would you believe that one if that was in the bible?
