Megan P-R was interviewed in 2017 by Joe Rogan on his webcast, 'The Joe Rogan Experience' linked here: JRE #974
During that interview, Megan describes meeting and becoming friends with a JW couple who later became xJWs.

i've been free of the jws for many years now and have a question about kh finance.. 1. is it true that all khs belong to the wt now?
2. when remodeling is done who pays for it?.
3. how are utilities paid?
Blondie, I'm unsure how to interpret your comment as each country sets its own rules for charity status.
There are numerous congregations and circuits in Canada that continue to retain independent charity status. CRA listing of JW Charities
Often, members will donate funds or provide loans to their congregation for a specific purpose. Funds already held by some congregations specifically for renovating the existing KH or to build new, were confiscated by WT and so the funds will not likely be used for the stated purpose of the donation. The doners were not given an option to either have the funds returned or to donate those funds to WT since WT considers all donated funds belong to WT and may be utilized for any purpose WT decides.

While local JWs raised funds for the majority of KH construction costs, WT had long provided mortgage funding for any remaining funds needed, initially charging interest for the entire term which later changed to interest-free since a non-profit religion with charity status is not in the mortgage business and should not be charging interest. More recently, WT 'forgave' all outstanding mortgages so congregations are no longer required to make mortgage payments, but WT then 'requested' those same payments ... or more, to be provided to WT as a continual donation with no end term. Congregations without a mortgage were 'requested' to provide similar ongoing donations. Additionally, all congregation funds in excess of $5K, were then required to be provided to WT as a donation.
Although KH ownership was initially under control of 3 local trustees, usually elders, I understand WT has long required specific wording in each congregation' incorporation documents that specified ownership of each KH is to be transferred to WT if the owning congregation is deleted or otherwise ceases to exist.
WT had long ago implemented Regional Building Committees. All KH construction or renovation projects required RBC input and approval before proceeding, even when funding and labour were to be supplied by local members.
I recall in one congregation we were then involved with, local members wished to renovate, update and redecorate the existing building which was only <20 yo at the time. Funding, including regular monthly expenses, was an ongoing issue for that small rural congregation.
The RBC 'recommendation' was against renovating but instead replacing the building with a style of RBC choosing. As the majority of elders were company men, they unquestioningly supported the RBC's recommendation even as the majority of congregation members were opposed to a higher cost new build.
It was then standard practice to present such decisions to the congregation for a vote, but, the majority were not in favour so instead of accepting the congregation's decision for a renovation only, a vote for a new KH became a regular agenda item for numerous weeknight meetings until those apposed eventually weakened and caved in and the required majority votes in support for new KH was eventually obtained. I seem to recall that may have taken several months. I also recall, the elders who were in support of the higher cost new KH, all moved to other areas soon after the new KH was constructed.
a month ago i was reinstated as a jehovah’s witness.
he was not disfellowshipped.
in my meeting i was told that i could not become involved with the man that i committed a sin with, which is adultery once i’m reinstated.
Although the elders in your congregation will claim you are now forgiven, they will continue to hold your Df'g against you for years and decades to come, especially if your husband was well-liked or an MS/Elder. As long as any of the same elders that were involved with your 'case' remain in the congregation, they will inform any new elders to your past indiscretion as you will be considered damaged and untrustworthy. It's worse for women than men, especially those men that strive to become MSs and Elders after they are reinstated.
my uber cousin and wife are going back to wallkill this weekend for the annual meeting since they have a daughter and son in law in the inner sanctum so they are always invited.
cousin said it was going to be broadcast from patterson to wallkill.
anyone hear anything else about subject matter etc?.
Whatever happened with WT televising the AM proceedings to certain locations and inviting only a select few to attend?
I recall my R&F relations that were invited 3 or 4 years ago, seemed to consider themselves superior over those who were not favoured with an invite.
has anyone seen this video of a man out in field service asking a woman if he can speak to her 15 year old daughter by name?
it is rather disturbing.. https://www.kiro7.com/news/local/mom-confronts-stranger-asking-to-see-her-daughter/983338603.

Leaving out our personal bias against WT and the JW religion, there was nothing newsworthy here. This was a routine follow-up by 2 JWs regarding the name and address for a potentially interested person. JWs will use any leads to pursue a potential study.
The "brouhaha" was caused by the mother using video footage she created and provided to the TV station.
The daughter was not interviewed for her side so anything she supposedly said is hearsay. Maybe the girl was curious and accepted a tact from a JW cart, or asked a JW friend at school about JW beliefs. As suggested, perhaps her name and address were submitted to JW_org by someone else as a prank.
When the mother told the daughter a man was at the door asking for her by name to talk about the bible, the girl may not have known anyone by that description if she did not speak with him earlier. Perhaps the initial discussion with JWs, if there was any, had occurred sometime prior and the girl didn't give it any further thought.
If a similar situation occurred with someone asking for my minor daughter but didn't identify who they are, I would have denied access as I believe the mother did initially. I would not have initially involved police or TV news, and I would not pursue the guy after the fact. If the situation was repeated, I would likely become more assertive that the action would not be further tolerated, and if there was a third incident, police would become involved.
Perhaps the mother submitted this nonstory to the TV station as a means for 15-minutes of fame. While her concerns may have seemed somewhat reasonable initially, once she pursued the JW to his place of worship to confront him, she then came across as unbalanced. What did she expect would occur as a result of that confrontation?

Because of the audio redactions, I'm not certain if there may have been an initial discussion between the 15 yo and the female JW. If so, then it would have been most appropriate if the female JW performed the follow-up call with the girl, not the male JW.
Security cameras and video doorbells are now common, so anyone passing by or approaching any home needs to anticipate they may be recorded.
The mother had a right to ask the identity and purpose for anyone asking to speak with any member of her family and she had a right to decline permission for her minor daughter, especially when the callers (plural) refused to identify who they are and the group they represent when specifically asked.
JWs have an obligation to identify themselves and the purpose of why they are calling. They are attending people's homes, the home occupant is not attending a clearly marked JW facility. A homeowner knowing they are JWs cannot be assured. While the male JW stated their visit was to share 'wonderful thoughts from the bible', they inappropriately did not state they are JWs or which congregation they represent.
Once permission was denied, we can assume the JWs departed peacefully and without incident or action. As all they did was simply to ask to speak with the girl and there was no suspected sinister or illegal purpose, there was no cause for the mother to involve police or TV news.
The woman obviously somehow learned they are JWs and the congregation as she later inappropriately and aggressively confronted the male JW within the KH's parking lot.
While pushing away the camera pointed at him may have been inappropriate for the JW, it was also inappropriate to unexpectedly have a camera shoved at him. He was likely taken off-guard by the aggressive actions taken the woman that accosted him while he was attending his place of worship.
Although we might assume it was the woman who is involving the police, perhaps it was the JW that called police due to the woman's actions.
has anyone read and considered the watchtower’s final submission to the supreme court?.

@ Vidiot
It is often claimed, there is no such thing as bad press. Any situation is always spun by WT to be positive for the organization.
When things are going well, that shows Jehovah's approval.
When things are a disaster or they lose in court, that is spun as 'the persecution we are receiving from Satan, just proves we are God's true religion. Jehovah will not tolerate this situation for much longer.' The fact that other religions experience similar trials and tribulations, is ignored.
If this was truly God's organization, since he is the God of love, I would expect his organization would set the lead for others to follow in appropriately dealing with CSA matters. Instead, WT is becoming the religion others point to as the pitiful example of what not to do.
The final episode of Leah Remini's Scientology series was broadcast last week. The topic was Scientology policies which prevent reporting of sexual abuse. JWs were again briefly mentioned by the Psychologist that participated in that episode.

ARROGANT is a very appropriate word to describe the wt organization.
When a group (GB) claim to be chosen and appointed by God as his earthly representative, then the attitude of that group's members will be, EVERYONE on earth, not only JWs, is accountable to them, including earthly courts of law.
While God may allow testing by fire, they fully expect they will be ultimately victorious in the highest court to display to the nations, God approves and supports them and their organization.
Of course, if when they lose, will never indicate they do not have God's support and blessing.
