Take any publication with artwork and scrutinize it meticulously and you're bound to see images of faces and other creepy things due to confirmation bias and pareidolia - Island Man

i remember about 5 years ago reading on another site about subliminal images in wt literature.
i honestly thought it a load of bs until i checked out one glaringly obvious image of a creepy skull in clouds within the knowledge book.
i was shocked and even showed my wife at the time who thought it was creepy.. so my question is why?

i think its now easy see the long standing and continuous operation of the watchtower corporation and its commercialized corruption as a religious publishing house.
the core centralized intent was to increase the circulation and distribution of the wts's own publications.
they exploited the basic belief in the bible as holy spiritual writings and used the end is near proclamation all throughout the 20th century and even back toward the end of the 19th century.. these leaders also devised special engaging public talks at assemblies and local kingdom halls which were also devised to support those specific core doctrines of christ's return and a imposing question of who's worthy of being saved or not at the soon to come day of judgment armageddon.
Pale E - The GB do not dictate doctrine for only 8 million JWs, but do so for all earth inhabitants. It's just, no one other than JWs are giving anything they say, any consideration or respect.
had the misfortune of stopping by the "regional" convention yesterday.
i promised my daughter i would come to sunday afternoon so she wouldnt have to ride home with her mother.... holy crap it was weird!
im sure all of this has been covered on the forum but to actually see it.... just wow.
I can understand indicating credit to the city for providing assistance for permitting the production to occur on public property.
I'd have a tough time understanding financial support as the film is religious in nature and mainly intended for a private audience. There also would be little or no benefit to the city in providing financial assistance.
Was the city credit the only one provided or were those involved also credited? You had stated 'credits', plural, so I assume there is more than just the city that is credited.

Did you notice the credits at the end? - OrphanCrow
They do not include the names of the writers and contributors to their books and magazines, but they place credits in their videos?
What happened to not giving praise to humans so as to keep Jah as the focus of attention?
did any of you attend the old school week long conventions?
i have heard stories and it seems like these were mostly in the 70's and 80's before my time.
i couldn't imagine.
Not only were they 8 days, they also ran until 8 or 9pm except for the final day (I think officially 6pm but typically much later after the final prayer which summarized every talk).
Venues were often outdoor sports stadiums and horse race tracks where, if you didn't arrive at least 2 hours in advance to obtain seats in the covered areas, you were stuck sitting unprotected on benches where it was hot as h_ll and you would sunburn and become drenched when it rained. Ah, Good times - not.
Even circuit assemblies had Friday evening sessions.
i ask this question for good reason.
let's face it, despite all the books, videos, forums, court cases, hearings, protests etc that have been exposing the society for many years.
jw.org continues to roll on almost 'it seems' unscathed.. for example, just walk into any kingdom hall there is not so much as a whisper about anything that has been exposed outside of jw land.
With regard JWs becoming a more mainstream religion, haven't they already started that?
I haven't attended a meeting in well over a decade. While I'm shocked at the things they now permit and do, members on this site who attended even 4 or 5 years ago, often state the number of changes even since they last attended. This 'religion' does not resemble the one many of us are accustomed to, although there still remains a few of the old practices remaining (ex: DFing). Even the blood doctrine has drastically changed with the acceptance of blood fractions.
If WT implemented too many changes, too fast, long term JWs might start to raise a stink. Instead, changes are morphed and accepted a little at a time, although to us looking in from the outside, those changes appear pretty rapid.
As so many have awaken but remain attending and submitting time sheets so as to continue acceptance by their family, it would be interesting (and shocking) if all those people stopped and walked away at the same time. What would the attendance and membership then be?
Do you think that would drastically change the attendance and preaching hours that are published in the Awake, or would WT continue to count those not attending as active JWs so as to not highlight concerns and to save face? I think they would likely stop publishing the specific numbers but have COs imply growth in general terms while not indicating where.
In reply to the OP where it was stated they continue to roll on almost unscathed, I guess that depends on where you are located. Would JWs in Russia, France and a few other countries have that same viewpoint?
my lifelong mental illnesses, fuelled significantly by the borg, are very bad at the moment and result in me missing lots of midweek meetings, but i haven't missed a sunday in years except the occasional vacation.. the nature of my mental and emotional illnesses mean that i, as a physically in and mentally out pimo, take to heart very painfully admonishment from the platform to never miss meetings, preach all i can, and so on.. okay, i report 3 hours each month on average and no elder has ever said anything, but when they make comments on the platform, i feel such great guilt and shame, but also anger, as they do not understand my illnesses and when i do mention my situation to elders, they kind of minimise and joke about it.. some other sisters in my congregation started "officially" not attending midweek meetings a few year's ago because of their own health circumstances, but i know for a fact that some elders look down on them for this reason, not showing real understanding deep down even if they do on the surface.. i have reached the point where i want to hand in a da letter as a cry for help, or more like a clear indicator to them that when i say i'm not well enough to attend midweek, i really mean it and it's not just an excuse.
sure, i'm only 42, but i can still be too fragile to go out at night with a 30 minute drive both ways..
A large problem is, you are not IN enough to be considered a good and acceptable witness, but you're in enough to continue under the critical eye and control of the entire congregation, R&F and elders alike. Many JWs criticize other JWs on all levels as they seem to think picking out another person's flaws, elevates themselves.
The only way to become more accepted is to get busy and become a super JW, otherwise, stop placing yourself under their control. You already acknowledge this cult is harming you mentally. When are you going to stop purposely subjecting yourself to this harmful situation?
As you didn't mention family except your elder father, it appears his acceptance is a concern. You are not 9 years old. You are an adult and need to mentally grow-up and set your own course in life, to live on your own terms. There are going to be things you do that your father may not like. Too bad for him. He's a big boy who is responsible for his own behavior and actions. He is no longer responsible for you and, you are not responsible for how he reacts to your decisions. You are not obligated to coddle him or protect his feelings at your own expense.

There is only one, and I had nothing to do with it.
hello everyone, it's been a while since i've posted anything on here so i thought i might give an update.
next month i turn 18 and my mom is constantly berating me about getting baptized, so much so that my siblings have even told her to stop.
ive just been flat out telling her no which i know is irritating her.
If he hadn't 'studied' with the entire family on a regular basis previously, I doubt he stopped your study because he considers you to be a lost cause.
If he conducts a study not because he wants to but only because that is what is expected of him, then the study is doomed to fail from the very start because his heart isn't into it. I understand you didn't want the study anyway, but don't take the fact that it fizzled-out as something against you personally.

Great that you posted with an update. I've often wondered how your study with your father was going? Since you didn't mention it today, I expect the study eventually fizzled out.
Glad to hear that you're sticking to your resolve in not being forced into baptism. It's always baffling how JWs teach Jehovah wants humans who only worship him voluntarily, but then turn around and justify forcing their children to become JWs under threat of expulsion from the home and from the family.
Happy also to learn you've been saving money and are looking at options in-case you are forced from your parent's home. You appear to be a strong woman who is approaching this in a reasonable and balanced manner.
