First report in... from our guy in PA that organized the run:
Friday Night -
I printed out the guest book (over 430) entries and headed north.
I spent Friday night across the street from the staging area in the
Ramada
Inn. I was gonna watch some hotel porn and just chill. I got there
around
10:15 PM.. Took a shower, ordered a smoker, saw one tit shot and fell
asleep. Still got charged for the movie. haha
Sat. AM
A good showing of bikes.... the procession of bikes was over a mile
long...(One guy used the trip meter on his speedometer to gage it) About
a
dozen clubs represented... Nice ride. 55.6 miles through the Blue
Mountain
ski resort. Cops lead us out, we were on our own coming back. No glitches
-
Blue Comet MC members assisted with road blocking
We raised $1855.00 bucks for the dream come true foundation. Came back
with
65 patches out of 300. They will be available over the internet when
Hawk
comes back. Proceeds will benefit the SOLR. We'll probably turn it into
a
poker run for next year to raise funds for the Dream Come True
Foundation.
Nick Hawkey had his trike all done up with American Flags and "Ryan's
#1"
signs. Ryan had to bail out early because of the cold mountain air and
his
pain.
I hooked up Animals sister and brother in law with an Ecstasy Trike RS5
( http://www.inb.net/ecstasyinc/)
Animals sister makes the guy pull off in the middle of the run so she
can
take leak..haha
Whats -up with that? Hey Deb, That's what the pisser in the camper was
for,
so you could go BEFORE we rode. haha
Jeff - the brother in law - Now known as 'DD' was really choked up and
had
tears all over his sunglasses. He worked his ass off though in the
staging
area and was my right hand man.
T Moore and his dog look alike - haha
A Vietnam Vet gave Ryan a 'Purple Heart' medal that belonged to a dear
friend of his. He pinned it on his patch vest. He polled the veterans in
attendance first to make sure they wouldn't mind. No-one had a problem
with
it.
The Christian Motorcycle Group lead us in a group prayer for ryan.
Rolling Thunder 2 PA made Ryan an Honorary member as did the SOLR.
Blue Comets MC presented Ryan with a card signed by everyone and a
Harley
Davidson Dream catcher made by member 'Two Foxes'
Another group gave him a Leather shovelhead jacket. One Guy custom air
brushed a helmet for him and gave it to him. Practically everyone stopped
by
to say hello to Ryan.
Perkins family restaurant donated 125 cups of coffee. They rate in my
book.
If you're on the road looking for breakfast, give them a play. Another
Business donated donuts and muffins. I cant remember who.
People were grabbing me and taking pictures with me.The local newspaper
was
there, and a local TV station gave us a plug on the Friday night news
from
what i hear. Norm Keller of East Penn Biker, did the ride with us and
is
going to give us a nice write-up in the next issue. Loretta Jackson-
formerly of Iron Biker, is now with East Penn.
Jeff & Deb - make sure you pick me up a copy of tomorrows newspaper
As far as pics, I couldn't take any because i was too busy parking bikes
and
babysitting "DD". haha
I gave T Moore my camera and told him to go at it. so I'll be
downloading
them tonight. A brother from Blue Comet took over 30 digital shots and
I'll
get a disk of them next Friday night at my meeting. It'll take a week or
two
to fully get everything loaded up on Ryan's page.
Me and the family members are gonna meet next Wednesday night at 6 PM
for
dinner to discuss the ride, and make up a list of folks who we need to
thank
for their time, and donations.
Animal, if you have a header that I could use for a letterhead let me
know.
We'll type up a nice formal thank you letter and maybe certificates of
appreciation for the businesses that donated.
If I think of anything else, I'll post it later. All in All a very
rewarding
day for SOLR and me personally.
Lou "Bones" - make that "Tired Bones" haha
