Good for you and your wife! I love to see this happen.

i had posted a few times since my awakening asking how best to talk to my wife about my new take on things.
i was very afraid of handilng it poorly and chasing her deeper into the organization.
instead, she basically said, 'i've been feeling the same way!
Good for you and your wife! I love to see this happen.

so, the day has finally come.
i'm finally going to see a therapist to work out all my issues.
i'm very nervous.
nb,
so far in my theraputic adventures, and I have been going for about 4 years now, it has been a real educational experience for the therapist. Unless you get really lucky, your therapist will not have a clue as to what you have been through. The good news is that just about any kind of therapy is useful to you. They all work if you apply them. Your therapist will try to apply his/her knowledge to your situation and in most cases it can mesh and serve you in getting better. You are doing the right thing in going. MORE FORMER JW'S NEED TO GO. THERE NEEDS TO BE A MOVEMENT, AN AWARENESS CAMPAIGN SO TO SPEAK. THERE NEEDS TO BE A BUZZ IN THE MENTAL HEALTH INDUSTRY REGARDING JW UPBRINGING AND ABUSE AND IT NEEDS ATTENTION.
I wish you the best and I will tell you that if you have a decent therapist, your fears and anxieties will melt away quickly. You will do fine. It was scarey for me at first, but I can see in the eyes of the various counselors I now visit that they are astonished at my stories. They want to know more and they are drawing me out nicely, my kids too. Let go and trust your therapist. It feels really good.

flyinhighnow's recent post about the nephew and his ultimatum email got me to thinking .
when and how did you get the ultimatum (to come back to jehovah or lose my love and friendship/association) and from whom?.

Not many have responded to this thread, and I certainly do thank all those who did.
This is sort of an important matter, one that cuts right to heart of the manipulation, threats, control and abuse of the organization through its own members. It is truly a sadistic and cruel practice. Your experiences are ever so important and can help others, especially the young ones.

on november 2nd in the year 1917, the jewish people were acknowledged the right to reconstitute their national home in palestine under the balfour declaration, which was supported by the league of nations.. .
on may 15, 1947 the united nations assembly established the united nations special committe on palestine (unscop).. .
on may 14, 1948 israel gained its independance and became a jewish state in palestine called "medinal israel" (the state of israel).
"Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father." (Matthew 24:36)
. . . and if nobody is suppose to know, I highly doubt God would have left us obscure numerical and/or chronological clues to rack our brains over . . . see what I'm saying? A day to God is a thousand years, etc.. And where in the Bible does it say that God even wants or expects us to spend time over trying to figure out a timetable he clearly does not want anyone to have knowledge of . . . ?

Nice little essay, Brownboy . . .
You and everyone else playing the numerology game keeps forgetting God's word when you are trying to figure out God's Word:
"Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father." (Matthew 24:36)
after 40 years of serving as a regular pioneer and being on the infirm list, the circuit overseer, the po and another elder told her today in a 30 min.
conversation she was going to be announced as no longer pioneering.
the co mostly talked about me, my wife and daughter.
I think it is more about you, minimus, than anyone else. They are trying to hurt you through your mother.
I totally agree.
I am so sorry for you and your mother, minimus. They are cold-hearted sons o bitches. That's all she gets for 40 years of service? I suppose that's all anyone has ever gotten from serving the organization.
I hate the intellectual intimidation they used on your poor mother "disloyal to Jehovah" my arse.

Thank you Blondie. I really needed that laugh. It was clever and very very funny and very non-partisian.

what do you believe are the long term effects of having your life turn out to be a lie?.
can a person really be brough up a jehovahs witness and live that life for 20,30,40 or more years and walk away unaffected?.
are the effects similair to say a person who doesn't know they have been adopted and finds out only as an adult their "parents" are not their real ones?.
I too am skeptical, of religion in general . . . even the Bible somewhat. The only thing that keeps hope alive for a relationship with God is knowing that he must exist. People pop in and out of my life lately who say something that calms my mind and brings clarity and peace. It's nice. Replacing the old beliefs with new and empowering ones is a challenge.
All I know is that I can finally breathe for the first time in my life. The JW religion is truly one of the most profoundly hateful and loveless religions that ever existed in modern times. Then I take a look at myself and I become ashamed for how it twisted me. Thankfully, I have had 14 years to educate myself and undo some of the harm it did to me personally. I am grateful that I had a miraculous woman in my life for the last eight years who, without even words, taught me to love and let go of the hate and anger.
