nagging doubt

my journey from lurker to poster was pretty quick.

all the posts are addicting to read, this is worse than being a couch potato.

i've been fortified to make a clean break & them the little inner voice starts talking back.

I am so glad you are here, It will take a while, for those voices to go away, it is the result of so much brainwashing. I know exactly what you mean by an open wound. It is an open wound on your soul, but it will heal, slowly, soon there will be a time when you almost miss the pain becaue it makes you feel alive, it makes you really see things clearly. My comparison to leaving the watchtower is to that of Neo when he turns to Morphius and asks why his eyes hurt..."because youv'e never used them before". That's is partly why you hurt. It's also painful knowing you've been lied to by people whom you've trusted, and leaving friendships, faced with the prospect of recieving the same shunning that you probably gave to other people.

Things will get better and this is one of the best places to be, It was sucha help to me because you will find out very shortly your's not the only one to have gone through this, we all have had almost the same exit issues. You will also gain a multitude of advice and decisions of other people, there triumphs and regrets, that will help you balance and weigh your next steps, so you don't have to go through this alone, we are all here with you. A pug is going to be my next aquisition, if it;s not a hedgehog, now that I've seen one, I want a little male fawn, and his name will be Luther after Martin Luther. So I will have 3 Historic Dogs...Nicholas Copernicus, Queen Isabella of Spain, and my personal hero Martin Luther.

We have a rare Red Anatolian Shepherd (Male) and a Tri-Colour Basset Hound (Female). Both are rescues.

If you want to feel safe, get an Anatolian, He stand thirty inches at the shoulder and has a bark, that'll make you soil yourself. But for comic relief get a basset. Actually both Dogs have alternating qualities, though both are really complete opposites of the canine spectrum. Copernicus (The Anatolian) has quite a sense of humor, always exhibited at the wrong time. and Isabelle (the Basset) has a hefty bark, always exhibited at the wrong time.

Moved to arizona

hey all....it's been a while since i posted...(many moons)....i have been very busy working out my move from oregon to arizona....well i have been here 3 months now and love it!!

!...the wife and kids are here with me (i moved her away from all her jw family)...and we all are settleing in.

the wife has hooked up with the local kingdom hall here but hey...one step at a time...:).

I'm a Native, and I am so Jealous that you chose Wickenburg, that is an awesome little town. I grew up a stones through from Paradise Valley Mall, in north Phoenix, though it's not considered North now. I moved to the East Valley a few Years ago, it's not too bad. We should have our own little apostofest, since it seems there are really a ton of us here! anybody up for it?

Can anybody list congregations they went to?

Mine are Paradise Valley, Desert Shadows, Shea Heights and Summit Trail

How long were you baptized until you left?

i'm interested to find out how long each of you were baptized until you decided to leave?.

i was baptized december, 1989 and left six years later.. if only i didn't get baptized in the first place, then i could tell my family how wonderful the holidays were!

Gumby your funny!

I got baptized when I was 18, right out of high school, because I wasn't ready to face being on my own, and the only way I could live at home was to be a baptized Witness. 6 Years later, after much anguish, I finally got the strenght to move out, a couple of months later I quit going ot meetings. My immediate family still talks to me, but most of my extended family only talk to me at family gatherings. I celebrate holidays and my parents and siblings know that, but it still makes things tense. I think most JW parents will do anything they can not to shun their kids.

i was watching the news last night.

the latest word from the war front is that we should be able to peaceably work out our differences with north korea.

as humiliating as it will be for us to kiss north korea's ass, we will do so because they do have the ability to nuke our west coast.

Thank you no one. I have been wanting to post for a while, I guess I am more pro American, since i am glad that our world is not like the Watchtower, and so I left that "world within a world" and I am so much happier to be able to speak my mind.

I appreciate your comments, please understand too, that I wasn't shooting at you it was a shot to all of us who live the American way and then sometimes have the nerve to complian about it. Like Island Woman said, as long as we spend more time researching the car or VCR we are going to buy and just voting half-hazardly, then this world isn't going to change too much. Let me also say, that I have a lot of respect for you that your priorities lie with your children and not just up and becoming a political activist at there expense, I believe the most important thing we can do in this world is love and educate and nurture our children, we can't change the world alone, and what better way than to teach our children that they can have an opinion and make a difference.

I admire your individualism, Have you ever seen "Wag the Dog"? It is amazing to see how people band together for one great cause and how gullible we can all be. I must admit, that though I am very pro American, because this country does allow me many more freedoms that most, notice most other countries, but those other countries have trade offs too, in most of Scandinavia for example, you give up half of your paycheck, every month, but you do get a lot in return. In Japan, the social structure is very different, I have Family living there as expats, they love it, it is a wonderful change for them, but it does have it's disadvantages too, especially culturally and financially.

And even though I am pro American, I will admit, for a long time I was skeptical about going to war with Iraq, but after reading some things, after hearing things from people that escaped that regime, I feel that those people deserve a fighting chance. Every one should have the right to grow up and make up there own mind, and make there own descisions, and that is even more precious for me now that i have gotten out of the handhold of the Borg.

My statement was a generalization of the stereotypical American, if there is such a thing. I don't know how you live your life, I do know how most Americans are though, and you can't say youv'e ever lived in third world poverty, day after day, even if you've been on welfare.

The basis of my argument, is simply this, We can state the U.S. is a bully, we can also state it is the greatest country on earth, is either totally true or totally false? No, WE have had good points and bad points throughout history but to simply state "The US is a Super Bully" is really taking much out of context, and showing a narrow point of mind. There are so many factors in this world that contribute to each issue, so saying that we want to nullify Iraq simply for oil is wrong, to say we want to crush Saddam and bring freedom to the Iraqi people is also wrong, but both are not totally wrong, both are dependant of many other factors, and not just other factors between the US and Iraq, but factors over the whole entire world. It is so difficult anymore the see things black and white, so to make certain statements to a cause is just stirring up muck.

Island Woman, says it very well. Truly my sentiments.

I understand what your saying, sometimes there is just no other way, not because we want to but because they want to. Bush is right, if your not for us then your against us, because if we don't stand up, then we could risk being taken down, and want to or not, we will become one of them, which is against us.

Sometimes there is another way. But bvefore we begin protesting and calling america a bully in this situation, see if there is.

Look around your house do you have a bunch of just adorable little knick knacks you "just had to have"? In your refigerator are there things getting moldy? Do you ever go out to eat, and just can't finish that humongos portion that you knew was coming, after ordering an appetizer? Look in your closet, what is the original cost of all those items, even if they were all bought at a discount?

Don't pine and mourn for the rest of the world, unlees you are going to do something about it, or at least begrudge yourself some of "lifes little pleasures" that most of the world has never even seen.

By the way, most of the stuff you get comes from china, if we did go in for the kill with them, then you would be amiss of all those picture frames containing some of your lifes kodak moments, amonst other things.

No one,

I am not saying the US is free from corruption, or that even our best or worst intentions haven't gone wrong. But Like LB also pointed out, why are most people trying to escape to the US or like minded countries, espeicially from Communist regimes, Cuba, the USSR back then, East Germany. Do you think it was cause they wanted to try on a different lifestyle for size? or do you think it might be becuse the democratic life has far more benefits?

My question for all of you who post that the U.S. are bullies, which country do you want to live in? Pick one. Are there better countries? No not really, there may be a better fit though for different people, but there are always trade offs, there is no eutopia. Nor will there ever be one on earth. No matter how much the Watchtower insists it's coming.
