Magwitch,
It just goes to show that everyone has a good side. Emshoff was one of the most unkind JW reps I ever encountered. I saw him humiliate brothers and sisters all the time. He was so insulting, impatient, really un-Christlike.
It's still a shame that he is having a rough time now.

Everyone from So. Cal has got to remember Earl McGee! He pushed pioneering for everyone like no other!
Growing up in LA I remember Br. Peace and Br. Good early on.
Worst CO's ever: Manning, Ford,
Best CO: Ray Harriman. He's got to be an ex-jw by now. He way too bright.
Hester was the last CO I had.
JC Howard was my DO for a time in Palm Springs, CA. I thought he was pretty bad until his replacement arrived - Emshoff. What a nut.

the only thing that's real is this, and i focus on it.
tearing holes with needles, letting down.
away, sweet friend.
Are you real? To whom would you like me to adress my response?
i find it completely ironic that people thank god for food and clothing, when if you look at the ot in genesis you see how yahweh curses the ground and tells man that he will work his ass off for food, shelter, daily life.
why are people giving thanks to a god who knowingly made life hell to begin with?
couldn't it be said that man works for his own food and that he should be thanking himself?
I don't think there is a single case of anyone praying before they eat in the Bible. Even in the Lord's Supper, the prayers were said during the meal, not before it.
do you believe that you should now apologize for whatever actions you made when you were a witness?.
do you think that if you were an elder that you should contact those that might've felt oppressed by you and your "theocratic" actions?.
if you were a zealous preacher, do you now feel you should go back to your former bible students and tell them the error of your ways?.
Yes. Although it's impossible to apologize for every action I took as an Elder, I felt very deeply that I had to reach out to some who's lives were affected by my decisions. It's true that I was just doing as instructed, and maybe I was even on the "liberal" side, but my actions hurt other people. Getting over myself and just apologizing for my ignorance was my intention.
I'm amazed how kindly I was received even by those that I had a hand in disfellowshipping. Even so, this is the one area where I feel really ashamed of myself. After all, most of us Elder's at least had doubts, we (I) could have shown courage earlier.
i made a big effort to get to the watchtower study today.
i have not been to the meetings much for months, but i figured this was a pretty historic "study" and i wanted to see reactions and how it would go down locally.
well a few things struck me as a bit odd in the study itself, and in the audience response as well.
Could someone post a link to the article? I'm so out of the loop on this.
Thanks
we're pretty sure what will happen next week but not why.. this thread is just for a list of changes that will affect those who still go.. .
1) no more private book study arrangements.
the book study host will ask themselves "why?".
Can someone post a copy of the letter to the BOE?
i have made some of the talks available from the follow the christ dc.
i had some problems on day 1 with reception, so i was only able to get one talk and day 3 we were late getting there.
also, i didn't include the drama as there is another thread on that hopefully some will be able to provide transcripts like live life did with the education talk to promote discussion of the material (again, thanks live life).
Fading away,
I just listened to "The Superiority of being Taught by Jeh." I cannot believe that some say the Org has softened its stand on college. It's the same old crap. Hearing the applause just kills me! Why can't they see through this? UHGGGG!
"do this in remembrance of me"...... ...those words jesus utters,..according to the wt,...is specifically for "the annointed",...right?.
if jesus at the last supper is speaking directly to "the annointed class",...that they should parttake and "do this in remembrance",...then why do the r & f even go to the memorial?.
looking at it through jw eyes,...jesus didn't invite members of "great crowd" to the last supper,...right?
Mike,
One of the great lies that JW's teach is that their hope to live on a "Paradise Earth" is unique. Actually this belief is in harmony with mainline evangelicalism. Heaven is where we reside prior to receiving glorified bodies. The "New Earth" is our ultimate destination where we will eternally live with Christ in flesh - but with incoruptible perfected bodies.
There are several scriptures that indicate that the "great crowd" are in heaven. Try Rev 19:6, and then also verse 1. The same Greek word is used as is in Rev. 7. Remember when speaking to JW's that they already believe in "going to heaven." They just don't believe that everyone does.
