You know... I went out of my way on each of my messages to state very clearly that my comments are in no way attacks on individuals, yet for some reason they are interpreted as they are personal attacks. I was merely commenting on the social issues that face Canadians every day. They are serious and they impact the way I lived every day!
Many of you say that I gave no support of the issues that I mention... but I provided many links to support the comments. Did you read them?!
You can see why my name is NOdenial. After my experiences as a Dub, I am on a mission to open my eyes! To see what is painful to admit. To take action for my own life - even if it means discomfort for a period of time. As an MS... I contributed for many years to helping other Dubs keep their head in the sand. I THOUGHT that I was in a group of individuals that are just as fascinated with observing what we couldn't see for so many years (yet was brutally obvious). I am confident that each of you that posted on this board watch the news and read the newspapers. I am sure that you hear and saw the same reports that I have. When I lived in Canada... I learned to 'tune it out'. because it became the same ol' ... same ol'. "keep your eyes on the prize... the new system is coming" (LOL!)
Uzzah... I will go back to Canada whenever I freakin' want to... because I am a citizen - and I always will be (according to Canadian immigration law). It is my birthright. I don't have to LIKE Canadian culture or politics to have that right. However, today I choose to live in a society that provides me a greater level of peace and prosperity. The USA provides that.
How can you hold that against me?!
Oh.... and by the way... I have the right to say what I said and have the feelings that I do - regardless of which side of the border I live on. This discussion was never about SHAMUS, boa, Uzzah, lawrence, michael or any of the other people that found it appropriate to sling insults.

I will say that your disposition and anger and inability to look objectively at issues is exactly the kind of problem that I was describing about the culture in Canada. You would think that an ex jw would be better able to see truth and reject bullshit.
Tell ya what - here's a good statistic: If Canada is SUCH a great place to live... then per capita, which country are people immigrating to? USA to Canada... or Canada to USA?

203rd Street and 87th Avenue Langley BC... my kid lived with my ex on that road for 2 years. The average house is about 400,000.00 bucks. That ain't ghetto! Nice neighborhood. There are horses grazing in the feild outside his house. There are 12 houses on that street. My sixteen year old kid came home one day with a Safeway bag full of pot. I asked him where he got it... 8 of the 12 homes on THAT road less than a quarter mile long were growing pot. Let's see... if my math is correct.... that's 2 out of 3 houses in that neighborhood. Hell, you can see the plants from the road. My kid raided some yards on the way home. There was so much there... nobody missed it.
But you guys go ahead... your ostrich position suits you well.
I'm sick of this discussion. There is a reason why I left Canada... listening to you guys just makes it all that much easier.
You can go right ahead and sit there in your depressed economy, your culture, your 'world'. I would never, EVER (!!!) have the opportunities and prosperity in Canada that I do here in the USA.

I posted many links to articles on the issues surrounding the drug problem in Canada - and there are tons more if you want them. But you have to be willing to face facts. It doesn't look like you are ready to get out of your denial.

You suggest that I was living in a ghetto! (gawd!!) I lived in the outskirts of Vancouver for 27 years of my life (as well as 7 years in Alberta and 6 years in Quebec). The community that I was talking was middle class, had about an average income of 50,000 to 70,000 dollars per year. The average home sold for 300,000.00 to 650,000.00. (is that ghetto??!!). My divorce attorney is Crown Council in British Columbia. His facts (that I repeated to you) are well published. It is my experience that the B&E issues are without a doubt higher in my years in Canada compared to living in Sacramento, CA (which has an outrageous crank issue) and Seattle WA. Go ahead, Shamus.... argue with me! (whatever!!.......)

I don't know where you live, but if it is Ontario, you may find what the CBC recently said to be interesting:
"Although B.C.'s marijuana industry is often touted as the province's largest cash crop, Ontario's market is much bigger, estimated at $1 billion a year."
The article (found at http://www.cbc.ca/news/indepth/marijuana/grow_operations.html ) suggests there are 15,000 grow ops in Ontario alone most of which are in a rural setting. I believe that to be a light estimate. (and that ISN'T ghetto!!)

It is such a beautiful place but I think it is next to impossible to live there and not be affected by this issue. What a messed up situation. Sorry if I took it out on ya Shamus. Canada is coping with crack cocaine ( search ) use in a uniquely Canadian way of doing things. Some folks in Vancouver have demanded that the government fund crack houses.
Perhaps I should repeat that: Health Canada, the Canadian government?s health system, is being asked to open smoking rooms for crack addicts.
A Vancouver advocacy organization called The Rock Users Group claims that the crack houses are needed to make the streets safe for crack addicts. Says the leader of the group: ?Right now, on the street, if you?re carrying a pipe and you?re not smoking it, you get roughed up by the police. That shouldn?t happen.?
The government-run crack houses would provide a safe place to toke up and would distribute little crack kits to crack addicts that would include a pipe, five brass screens, two new mouthpieces, condoms and printed material on "safe" smoking techniques.
Canada already funds places where heroin addicts can shoot up. One so-called "safe-injection site" received a grant of $1.5 million from Health Canada and another $3.2 million from the provincial government.
The thinking is, if it?s good enough for smack addicts, why not a safe house for crack addicts? Says heroin addict Dean Wilson, "I think we should give the same courtesy to people who smoke rock [cocaine] as we did with the safe injection site."
Now there is my tax dollars hard at work!!

I'm a Canadian too... but I am a heck of a lot happier living in the USA! In fact... I'm only a few months away from getting my US citizenship.
Here's why:
I am CERTAIN that this message is going to prompt some vehemently angry replys from my Canadian friends. Please understand: I am Canadian!!! I love YOU guys... BUT I am totally unimpressed with the country's society and politics. Please don't take it personal.
