10A message to all of you going to Dallas and everyone else
by Celtic ini just wanted to say that i wish all of you the best possible time in dallas later this week, i hope you all thoroughly enjoy yourselves rekindling the friendships you've made online through this place.
i hold many of you now with a great deal of affection and respect and i really do love all of you.
all of you as individuals are such a very special group of people, and it has been a great privilege of mine, to meet your many acqaintances here.. life is such a prescious thing, it gives me great joy every day now that i am living and to know some of you as well as i do has been a tremendous sense of satisfaction and fun.

A sense of humour is a terrible thing to waste - how I managed to keep mine stifled all those years I'll never know - but now it's free, rawcous, lewd, and sometimes plain sick!! Hope y'all will be able to cope with it!! Still, I'm sure LT has broken you in gently!

Just saw the movie Troy!

they took some liberties with homer's work but i was impressed none the less!

Unfortunately not having read the book, therefore nothing to compare the movie to, I thought it was great.
As I am a Brad Pitt fan (he is actually a very good actor), I think he played the role very well, and was well suited to the part. He developed his character very well throughout the movie, not getting stuck in "arrogant bastard" mode. His action scenes were played with the panache that I would think an arrogant hero like Achilles would have had.
Eric Bana also played very well, acting well alongside Peter O'toole. Bana is a good strong actor, and looked to fit the part also very well. As someone else said on this thread, it was great seeing O'toole back in action, he hasn't lost any of his on-screen charisma.
Orlando Bloom, on the other hand... I couldn't stand watching him in this movie. He plays Legolas very well in LOTR, but here he just could not find the spot. He constantly seemed too tense, even when he is supposed to be fun loving. What is worse is that I caught a spot of "Actor / Character" syndrome... I now can't help but think of him surrendering during his duel, grovelling at Bana's feet.
All in all though, I'd say it is a great movie. If you don't mind your kids seeing the occasional ass and a spurt of blood here and there, kids would really enjoy it too.

i'm never going to live this down......i gave my daughter a talking to about drinking last week, mentioning health issues and the dangers of binge drinking as she'd been to a party and had had a few too many....we talked and she agreed to be more sensible...... fast forward to last night...i went to a friend's son's bbq for his 21st birthday..it was really hot and the wine was flowing..i started at 2pm through to around 1030..i cant actually remember .... .when it was time to leave.i tried to walk home and just.... could'nt--i seemed to walk forwards one and back three and was laughing so hard my stomach hurt and i could'nt stand up........ my friend's son offered to carry me home...wrapped up in a blanket....bless him....when he got to my door he propped me against the front of the car and i kind of folded in the middle, face down and hit my forehead on the bonnet........... ......theyve all been round to laugh at my hangover from hell.

My kids surprised me... We went over to a friends house recently, and we were drinking, having a laugh etc.. When it came time to go home, I was fine (having drank water most of the time), but Wifey found that she had drank entirely too much.
As we were on the way home, she had her eyes closed. I laughed and said "You're just trying real hard not to puke in my new car aren't you"... she solemnly nodded.
We got home, I couldn't open the door in time, and she went to blow chunks on the grass. I opened the door, and saw Sarah (12) stood in the hallway glaring at me. She was already real pissed that we hadn't taken her with us, so I expected all hell to break loose. But... much to my surprise, she helped me bring Wifey in, get her situated, bring her something to help her head etc. And not a sarcastic, bitchy, or even scathing remark to go with it. I was surprised, and thanked her very much for being good, because her mom would definitely regret it in the morning anyway.
And she did. All day long.

Going under "the knife" in about 6 and a half hours.

monday morning the 17th at 6 am i go in for ye ol' hernia operation.
i asked to be put "out" as i had the option for staying partially awake.

by doodle-v insometimes when i log on to jwd i go directly to "jokes and humor" because i know that there will be something there that will crack me up.
i love to laugh and i think humor is great therapy especially when alot of us have been through so much.
its great that we can make fun of ourselves and can find the humour in many of our experiences.
