  Input from Christians requested on JWs not partaking

  this is a new concept for me that i keep running into with all of the discussion regarding the memorial: the fact that the jehovah's witnesses make a yearly ritual (their only ritual) of not partaking of the symbolic flesh of christ.

  can any christians comment on the importance in the christian faith of partaking in this?

  and why, would jw's feel the need to build up this rite to have people "pass" it up.

  Ex-catholic here, too. Wine is offered to the laity in most congregations today; partaking of the wine is optional, however.

  Cinema - what's right and wrong?

  i am a jw matriarch and have always accepted our teachings, often looking for guidance from the watchtower webpage when i was doubtful.

  especially when it comes to modern culture.

  i was asked by my son's friend's mother what was righetous with regard to cinema.

  Getting on JWD on Saturday

  anyone else have trouble yesterday getting on to jwd?

  i tried three different computers and when i clicked on jwd's url each computer wouldn't access it - it would partially load the url and then wouldn't complete the load.

  i tried getting on over a period of over 6 hours and the same thing happened.

  The Passion of the Christ Movie

  i am watching this movie for the first time and it has subtitles and is in another language.

  i am wondering if this is the way it is or if i have rented the wrong version.

  i can hardly watch it as it is very disturbing and i feel so bad for jesus.

  Mel Gibson deliberately filmed it in the language Jesus spoke, supposedly so it would be as accurate as possible. I haven't seen it and have never felt the need or desire to.

  The Power of Now.....

  i am about halfway through reading this book, and it's pretty interesting stuff.

  it's by eckhart tolle, who is a "spiritual teacher".

  anyone else read it?

  Yes I've read it, and it changed my life completely. After being a "seeker" for 27 years I stumbled across his book and because of it my life is so very different - there is no more self-condemnation, no more worry, no more fear, and no more perceived separation from others. There is peace, there is stillness, there is silence, there is acceptance, there is wholeness, there is contentment, and there is the living of life fully in this very moment. What a relief to live life this way.

  I would recommend any of his writings as well as listening to any of his talks or videos.
