This thread is for proof that God exists
by juandefiero inhowever, i haven't found any evidence to support that belief.. have you?
if so please, show me the evidence that god exists, and i will believe along with you.. criteria:.
(1) you must specify which god you are talking about;.

I'll use the same example that I gave someone else without regard for your specific rules. I'm not quite sure where I land specifically on the spectrum of belief in God. For me though, I do believe in something greater than us, a God, much like I believe in love. Neither is something that you can see but to both can be attributed many actions used as evidence of both. That's my view, though I know it's not what you wanted, unless of course your true desire was to draw out believers so that people could have a go at them for sport. -

Narcissistic personality disorder and the dubs
by purrpurr ini've recently started to research npd.
having identified several of my family members as having it ( no wonder we're such a ¿***#@**!!!!
up family)there's huge similarities between the borg and individual members of the cong as well i've noticed.the over whelming love of self, the need to believe in a grandiose fictional version of themselves, always striving for more power and wealth, being unable to stand any criticism, and then there's the manipulation of the victims too.i could be wrong i guess but what thoughts do you guys have about it?

The book "The Narcissistic Family" totally nailed my family and the organization. In short, narcissists see people as mere objects to be controlled. If not, they can be thrown away like garbage, just like the idiotic JW TV showed recently. It's not a people of love, but rather one based on authority and absolute mindless obedience. -

A fresh start
by FormerlySandL inafter the worst introduction i could ever make on the forum i would like to reintroduce myself and make a fresh start on the forum and hopefully over time i will be able to redeem myself.
i have changed my user name which was over dramatic and ridiculous in the cold light of day but for transparency and to show i am not trying to hide anything i have adapted the original name and it now has a more positive feel.
after reading a lot of posts on this forum i am feeling more optimistic about my future.

Since we now have a new thread to do so on instead of the ridiculous responses from others here I just wanted to reach out and welcome you to the forum. Much respect for fighting through, being contrite, and not letting the haters keep you down. Move on and get help and be happy. Good for you. -

Un-****ing-Believable
by OneFingerSalute injust a few observations from this morning.
.. this morning as i was trying to choke back the bile that kept wanting to come up during the wt study one comment in particular screamed cult.. towards the very end as comments were being made about "counseling" others with "gracious" words one of the uber-dub minstral-serpents made this comment, "we see in the last image that the brother is holding a bible as he counsels the other brother.
we look closely at the picture and we can know exactly what he is counseling the brother about.

What about stumbling you? What if you were the one stumbled because of the rigid idiocy of others? That's something always found so stupid. I should change something because God forbid I stumble some idiot, but my feelings don't matter at all, right? Why couldn't I see their comments as stumbling to me? So stupid and one sided. -

I never thought about Jesus' association with tax collectors and sinners as anti-shunning, but it sure was. Interesting. Throw in the Samaritan woman at the well too. Oh, and the good Samaritan in the illustration sure wouldn't be a JW. -

Hey slimboyfat, got a reference for that? I'd love to see what you're talking about. I don't remember that at all. I can look it up if I still have a CD-ROM, but don't really know what I'm looking for. -

DA letter sent... It was weird!
by Mandrake inwell i was telling you days ago that i wrote my da letter... i decided to deliver it myself to the elders.
it'a been about a year i didn't show up nor talk to the majority of old friends.
one of my best friends (who's is 2-3 years older than me, i'm 25) is now an elder... some times i don't understand him, he's an engineer from a prestigious university (the most prestigious universities here in chile, are 2, the one from where he got his degree and the one i'm attending)... he even red crisis of conscience and has doubts... but still endured inside.. my congo were based in our historic city downtown, so our territory was small... i parked my car near the hall and walked near for a while while the meeting was over.

Thanks for sharing the story. That was an interesting read, it is funny how things turn out in the end sometimes. I bet you never thought you'd end up here as a disassociated person, but you did it, and congratulations! Freedom awaits. Go live your life and enjoy. -

Should I get babtized?
by BlackWolf ini know this sounds like a ridiculous question but i was talking with my mom in the car today and of course we got on the topic of getting babtized again.
she told me that jehovah holds me accountable for my sins regardless of wether i am babtized or not so i have no reason to be holding back because it won't change anything.
my parents are the type of super strict jw who will shun you just for not being a witness.

I like how LisaRose came at this with a sample of something you could say. I was thinking about this on the way home after I read it earlier at work. Here's what I would say:
Mom, dad (not sure who is involved in the pressuring), I just want you to know that I know you're trying to encourage me and I appreciate it. However, the pressure is discouraging to me and makes me feel like Jehovah can't love me like I am right now. I know that discouragement is a tool of Satan to make people give up and I don't want to do that. So I have to ask you to stop talking to me about it. I want to get baptized when I'm ready and I feel like this is making it about me and you instead of me and Jehovah, so please just let me form that relationship at my own pace.
Anyway, that's the road I would take. First, acknowledge that you know they're trying to help. Then let them know that instead of helping it is actually hurting. Discouragement is a big thing in the organization that is linked with depression and that they are scared of because it takes people out of the organization. Your parents certainly wouldn't want to do that. Hopefully that would be enough to get them to back off.

If Jehovah holds you accountable whether you're baptised or not, then why all the pressure to get baptised? It obviously doesn't matter, right?
And it is supposed to be a personal decision. Even Jehovah didn't push his son to do so, and Jesus was thirty when it happened. So parents are really overstepping their bounds.
Oh, and yeah, DON'T DO IT!!!!!!
