Well, those 3,000 extra partakers are obviously mentally ill. Not necessarily because the governing body said they are to discredit them, but because they're Jehovah's Witnesses in the first place. It just comes with the territory.

2017 Yearbook released
by bohm ini saw this on reddit:.
https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/5mlgsm/2017_yearbook_of_jehovahs_witnesses/.
overall the numbers are better than last year (1.8% growth compared to 1.5% last year -- as i predicted ;-) ) with an increase in all major figures including 1300 more congregations (i assume this is not physical kingdom halls?).

I don't see her making much progress on that front, but I applaud her efforts. Shut 'em down!

She is their lawyer and obviously adept at spinning, though you and I can see through it. They will assassinate the character of anyone that questions them, just like Jehovah's Witnesses.

The end is to come like a thief in the night and catch people off guard, the day nor the hour that anyone knows, isn't that what the scriptures say? Only doomsday groups like Jehovah's Witnesses spend their time trying to predict the end with guesses as to the timelines, and are proven to be wrong over and over and over again like the false prophets that they are.

My Dad wants to study with me
by BlackWolf inso my parents continue to pester me about getting baptized.
the other day my dad told me that i was old enough to make a decision, and was wondering why i wasn't ready (assembly is in a few weeks) so i told him calmly that i have many doubts and if i were to get baptized it has to be 100 percent my idea.
he was a little annoyed by this, and now wants to study the "is there a creator that cares about you" book (which is complete bs) with me.

I wholeheartedly disagree with those saying that you should study with your dad and challenge him if he has anger issues. When something is unhealthy, you don't double down on it and hope that it somehow changes, you get out of it. You can't just leave, but I would do whatever I could to NOT study with him. You aren't going to change his mind, you will only piss him off because he wants to control you, thus the pressure. Find ways to delay or get out of it. You have quite a history on here and we've chatted in pm's, so you know that giving in and getting baptized isn't a great move either. It must be hard to be isolated and under constant pressure. I don't remember how old you would be now, but you as you get closer to old enough to move out he may ramp up the pressure. Your deliverance is near though. Don't give up as you get closer to freedom.
If a person can get you to take one step with them, it is much easier to get you to take a second, and a third, etc. It is sales. If a door to door salesman can get you to stand there and talk to them, they're laying groundwork for a sale and people will buy when they though they'd never do such a thing. If you take this study, you're taking that first step. Beware. In the end, it's your life, and none of us know all of the circumstances, so we can't tell you what to do, but we can give you our opinions, and this is mine.

You have to laugh at A Believer. Instead of spending his time spreading what he is delusional enough to see as truth to others who may be receptive, he is spending his time here. I wonder what his masters....errrr....elders would think about his use of time. More importantly, what would Jehovah think. I guess it kind of shows that he doesn't really believe like he says. Welcome to the dark side A Believer!

Nice! Disgusting and nightmarish, but well done.
I always struggled with the mosquito. It transmits diseases and drinks from the blood that is supposedly so sacred. Never added up to me.

"Historical" Announcement This Week?
by headisspinning inmy daughter asked if anyone has heard anything about a 'big announcement' being made sometime this week in congregations in canada and possibly beyond... in her words "it's like a biggggg long thing, they cut out part of the book study for it and people heard it was a historical thing"... any ideas?
could it be the mexican branch closing or the theme of the convention?
or something else?

Dear brother/ sister Intercore,
You are correct in that you created this version only, but when planting a garden, do you take credit or give it to Jehovah? You didn't create the seeds, just like you didn't create the figurative "seed" of this song that you put out.
Additionally, what if your "karaoke" version were to get in the hands of apostates and they gave you credit? They might make new lyrics or make fun of the fact that songs like "just around the corner" are things that have been said for many generations now without coming true. It could bring reproach on your name, and Jehovah's as well.
It sounds like Satan is playing the instrument of your heart, dear brother. You should do some deep study, meditate, and hope that you can root out any of Satan's seeds that are planted in the garden of your heart.

Poor people are sub-human?
by Alostpuppydog inhas anyone noticed how many jw's really seem to be rollin in it?
escpecially the elders, and they treat their subordinates like filthy gum on the bottom of their shoe?
just wondering because i too am poorer than poor and have spent a fourth of my life homeless already and i am 22.. another thing to consider is why domost of the population on this planet seem to hate the poor, even though we outnumber the middle class and the rich greatly?

I'll admit that I haven't read all pages here, but I grew up poor. I also think that some of those sub-human feelings are projection of your own feelings of being sub-human because you see others living a different life. I felt like others looked down on me, and some certainly did, but I felt that way about myself too as I observed others. Poor people have issues or habits that keep them there. They also do a good job of pulling people down if they try to do better. I'm not rich now by any means. Poor is a state of mind and of poor decisions. I clean houses and have a good life. You don't even have to possess a college degree.
