@John Davis - Do you think that "Jehovah's spirit directed organization" should have higher standards than the "world"? Shouldn't holy spirit (lol) guide the organization on the cutting edge of what is acceptable? Since when is the "world" the moral authority over the cult?

2 witness rule
by punkofnice ini'm gobsmacked.. the 7 rock star popes in warwick know darned well that the 2 witness rule allows child rapists to get away with their crime.. geoff (whacko jacko) jackson was at the australian royal commission and should have seen first hand what a vile man made law the 2 witness rule is.. my question is, why do they still insist on this pervert protecting rule?.
i know it's a highly controlling cult but still...........................stuff my old boots, mate!.
the above is more a rhetorical question.

The whole issue gets convoluted. The 2 witness rule isn't the problem as much as the fact that unqualified people are handling criminal matters. That is the main problem as I see it. Why are elders handling crimes against children in the first place? Why do parents go to them first? Why isn't the policy of the JWs as simple as report it to the proper authorities (hint: that's not the eldurrs)? They have no business handling it in the first place.
Now, since they do, and since they set themselves on high as the judge and jury of the congregation, then the two witness rule allows horrible things to go unpunished and allows predators to do what they do even longer. You'd think an almighty god that can cause the rocks to cry out with his message could do so in defense of the most vulnerable among us. That's just more evidence that god is a fairy tale. He can be found helping to protect his loyal witnesses across waters where predators roam so they can get to a meeting while children are raped because, of course, meeting attendance is vital. Disgusting.

@Fisherman - Do you personally have the opinion that Jehovah's Witnesses handle child sexual abuse allegations in a way that protects children to the best of human abilities? If not, where do you think they fall short? If you do, please highlight the ways in which they best serve children in these cases through their policies.

Still if even 1 person is caused to start thinking it totally was worth it.
What if it drove doubts away for two people and made them scared to ever be a crazy apostate?
That's what I don't like about this style. It's not attraction marketing, it's interruption marketing, and the former as time goes on is proving more impactful, while the latter is more off-putting. Yes, there's always the chance that someone wakes up, but there's also the chance that others turtle up and go back in their cult shell.

If you can paint what the VAA did with the same brush as the guy that shot up a church, you have problems. I'm not even saying that I agree with or even know all of what the VAA did today, but comparing it to an idiot with a gun committing an atrocity is just bad emotional reasoning.

In theory, can one be disfellowshipped for attempted suicide?
by Saename inso i was recently reading the reasons for disfellowshipping as listed in shepherd the flock of god.
the handbook is available online here: https://thetruthofjehowaswittness.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/jehovas-vitner.pdf.. on page 59, point #4, it lists attempted suicide as a reason for disfellowshipping.
has it ever been removed?

I either heard a podcast story or read an account that spoke of a posthumously. If they can be that monstrous, why not do it for an unsuccessful attempt. The cult often lacks any heart, and if a JC is formed, anything can be on the table.

A woman without a voice
by SunnyOne026 inthis is my story in a nut-shell.
i hope some of you can relate.
if you can..i would love to hear from you.. i have been crushed and heartbroken more times than i can recount by a religion that claims to be based totally on love and mercy and most of that harm has come from the so called "shepherds" who or are supposed to lovingly take the stray lambs in their arms and lead them gently back to safety.

Whoa, that's quite a story and I'm sending internet (((hugs))) your way. I'm so mad for you, for all the years lost and the tears shed.
My story is found at thisjwlife.com and my podcast called thisjwlife. So far it's helped people heal, so maybe listen to my 9 part story and it can help you.
You can also go to shunnedpodcast.com and that podcast is just called "shunned" and listen to the stories of others told one atva time.
You aren't alone. We've all been broken by that religion but many have come through it and found true happiness. You can too. You just have to give up on the notion that you can control what happens and start doing humble research, ready to accept whatever you find, even if it goes against everything you've held dear.

Episode Three - Emily is shunned by Jehovah's Witnesses - Is now live!
by dubstepped inthere are many ways to be shunned as one of jehovah’s witnesses.
emily’s story highlights a path that many take, a path of personal growth with stumbles along the way that result in ostracism, a path that deviates from the prescribed path of a cult that requires everyone to walk the same or face the consequences.
this story shines a light on the spectrum of the jw experience.. you can subscribe on itunes (apple podcasts), google play, or wherever you get your podcasts.. you can also stream directly from my website, and leave comments of support for emily and see what song she picked as one that signified her journey at:.

Can't imagine why someone negged you for that one, unless it was a scrolling mistake. Hope you enjoy, or at least find something that resonates with you. She was fun to interview, and although she didn't think her story was worthy of telling and that it would resonate, I think it will a lot. People lived all kinds of stories in the cult. My family was very much uber JWs, but not all were, and people's families came from all types of backgrounds and went in all types of directions even in the cult.
