Watchtower Loses an Appeal

it has zealously advocated its position and lost multiple times.

yet, it cavalierly refuses to acknowledge the consequences of these losses and the validity of the court's orders requiring it to produce documents in response to request number 12. and, in a further act of defiance, watchtower informed the court that it would not comply with the march 25, 2016 order 39 requiring it to produce documents responsive to request number 12. the court, following lopez, supra, 246 cal.app.4th 566, as an incremental step toward terminating sanctions if watchtower persists in its unjustified conduct, imposed monetary sanctions.

To the contrary, the superior court has shown great patience and flexibility in dealing with a recalcitrant litigant who refuses to follow valid orders and merely reiterates losing arguments. We therefore affirm.

Lmao, it's like talking to Fisherman on here. Arguing with a brick wall, merely reiterating losing arguments while standing up child abuse because it happens elsewhere too. Very sad and disgusting. Maybe he works in the legal department.

@Fisherman - Do you personally have the opinion that Jehovah's Witnesses handle child sexual abuse allegations in a way that protects children to the best of human abilities? If not, where do you think they fall short? If you do, please highlight the ways in which they best serve children in these cases through their policies.

Poor, poor Watchtower. You must feel so bad for them Fishy. It really is the fault of the courts. If only they would make things easier for Watchtower they could do something to help those pesky kids that are getting hurt, right?

Nobody said anything you're talking about John. This is the bullshit tactic often used by JW supporters to derail conversations and detract from the discussion of Jehovah's Witnesses and how they handle child sexual abuse and personally I find it disgusting. Fisherman tried in one of the last convetsations to use the abuse of other children in other situations to detract from the JWs and their responsibility. It was disgusting.

You're not trying the same here, are you John? Seems like you have a really tough time taking the cult to task while children are suffering and you're defending how accused abusers are looked at. Is that your modus operandi like Fisherman had his, to detract from the horrors of how the cult handles the abuse of innocent children by taking up for abusers and those accused of abuse? Is that REALLY where you're going with this? It looks as disgusting or more so than what Fishy did recently from my vantage point.

@John Davis - Do you think that "Jehovah's spirit directed organization" should have higher standards than the "world"? Shouldn't holy spirit (lol) guide the organization on the cutting edge of what is acceptable? Since when is the "world" the moral authority over the cult?

The whole issue gets convoluted. The 2 witness rule isn't the problem as much as the fact that unqualified people are handling criminal matters. That is the main problem as I see it. Why are elders handling crimes against children in the first place? Why do parents go to them first? Why isn't the policy of the JWs as simple as report it to the proper authorities (hint: that's not the eldurrs)? They have no business handling it in the first place.

Now, since they do, and since they set themselves on high as the judge and jury of the congregation, then the two witness rule allows horrible things to go unpunished and allows predators to do what they do even longer. You'd think an almighty god that can cause the rocks to cry out with his message could do so in defense of the most vulnerable among us. That's just more evidence that god is a fairy tale. He can be found helping to protect his loyal witnesses across waters where predators roam so they can get to a meeting while children are raped because, of course, meeting attendance is vital. Disgusting.

What if it drove doubts away for two people and made them scared to ever be a crazy apostate?

That's what I don't like about this style. It's not attraction marketing, it's interruption marketing, and the former as time goes on is proving more impactful, while the latter is more off-putting. Yes, there's always the chance that someone wakes up, but there's also the chance that others turtle up and go back in their cult shell.

If you can paint what the VAA did with the same brush as the guy that shot up a church, you have problems. I'm not even saying that I agree with or even know all of what the VAA did today, but comparing it to an idiot with a gun committing an atrocity is just bad emotional reasoning.
