@Rubadub - If it's for exjws, why not on Memorial night? Seems like it would give them something encouraging to do while their former friends and family memorialize.

Who deserves the title of king of apostasy ?
by Chook ini think this would be a noble endeavour..

An apostate, per definition, is a person that renounces a religious belief. I can't speak for you, but I'm an apostate and most mentioned would fit that definition. Just because Watchtower adds qualifiers like being "mentally diseased" doesn't change the meaning of the word or make it somehow less fitting.

Hi Patricia, and welcome to the forum. I'm not sure how many we have here from NYC. You should post on Facebook groups like the Ex Jehovah's Witnesses recovery group 3 and the exjw Reddit group as well.
My brother lives in Manhattan. He's an exjw. I'll let him know.
Let me know how this goes. I'd be interested in knowing what kind of exjw community you have up there. I do a podcast called "shunned" and my sister-in-law wants me to do a live shunned podcast recording/meetup up there near the old Brooklyn Bethel. I'm interested, though terrified of coming out from behind the mic and being on stage (JW flashbacks), but if there's a good exjw community that is supportive I might do it.

Famous Last Words
by Blueblades insooner or later it happens to all of us.the time comes for us to draw our last breath and pass from this life into the next.over the years history has recorded some fascinating "famous last words"...here are a few.. "i've never felt better".douglas fairbanks,sr.,actor.. "iam about to----or i am going to-----die;either expression is correct".dominique bouhours, french grammarian.. "don't let it end like this.tell them i said something.
"pancho villa, mexican revolutionary.. "all my possessions for a moment of time!
"elizabeth 1,queen of england.. "everybody has got to die,but i have always believed an exception would be made in my case.now what?

Actually, what JWGoneBad said just shows that belief in god is nothing more than selfish and born out of emotions like fear. It's the very essence of grasping for straws.

Ray Franz, the OG apostate.
Today the crown would go to Cedars. That doesn't mean that there aren't others out there making a difference, but he's everywhere and I know for a fact that he's helped a lot of people in exiting the cult. He hits lots of different mediums of information and has a voice to his message that many like to hear. He's also quite well researched and produces good content.
Obviously passing the crown doesn't mean following any one man, or woman, it just means that the person is the most well known authority on the matter and this is a thread on a forum without much context. I wouldn't take any of this too seriously.

EMDR Therapy Anyone?
by Brian J intwo+ months into marital counseling for my wife (pimi) and i (pimo).
wife after decades of marriage decides for the first time to bring up separation due to, drum-roll please...... absolute endangerment of spiritual life.
a spouse may constantly try to make it impossible for the mate to pursue true worship or may even try to force that mate to break god’s commands in some way.

Wait, she's bringing up separation for bullshit reasons and YOU are ordered to therapy? Am I missing something?
I thought EMDR was about helping to bring back old trauma and to rewire the brain's response. I've never done it but it's talked about on episodes of The Mental Illness Happy Hour podcast that I like.
So when are you setting an appointment for your wife to meet with Steve Hassan?

Really, what part of life can't JWs screw up if they're involved in any way. I don't see why you would throw out all of the hard work done for that reason.

"Scathing Athiest" podcast tears the 2018 convention videos to shreds!
by stuckinarut2 inthis weeks scathing athiest podcast has great fun tearing to shreds the series of disturbing 2018 convention videos!.
if anyone is not aware of scathing athiest, this great group of guys poke fun at all manner of religious institutions, and do so in a very irreverent way!
yes, full of language and obscenity!

Wow, listened to them dissect the videos and that was hilarious. I haven't seen the videos yet (can't stomach them often) but the description was amazing.
As a side note, I loved the "thoughts and prayers" diatribe at the beginning. My wife loved it all too.

Oh yeah, glad The Prodigal Boys are back! I listen to them, Critical Thinkers, How To Heretic, Zealot (from Australia I think), and The Thinking Aheist.
Oh, and This JW Life and "shunned", of course. It's funny, I'm definitely scratching my own itch with shunned. I do the interviews so I hear them then, edit them so I've heard them again, and then I'm still excited when they come out and listen a third time, lol. Sometimes my wife listens to them with fresh ears before release to try to catch any edits I missed.
I love podcasts. I listen to a wide variety on everything from home maintenance to mental illness to business and finance. I'll have to check out some of those on your list. I always listen to Bill Burr's Monday Morning Podcast. He's a comedian that I like. I have a huge list that I rotate through.
