What current movies have you seen? Give a little review if possible, aye or nay

My wife and I see maybe one movie every five years or so on average. I'm not a movie guy. However within the span of three days recently we saw two movies.

First we watched the new Godzilla movie. We both liked it as a fun monster movie. I saw reviews killing it for a lack of story but it's a freaking Godzilla movie, what did you expect? I hadn't seen one since before I was eight years old and my parents sold us out to a cult. It was a fun throwback for me.

My wife wanted to see Dark Phoenix so we did. It was a fun watch too. If you've followed the franchise all the way through maybe you have a different view but we popped in and enjoyed it. We both liked the Godzilla movie better though.

So there's your movie reviews for what they're worth from someone that never watches movies.

in the old testament, god was always full of anger and jealousy resulting in the murder of millions of people.

we’re told jesus perfectly reflects his fathers qualities.

why in the new testament does jesus show no hint of anger and jealousy and wanting to kill people?

@Tenacious - Do those other writings that you mentioned relate stories of talking snakes, global floods, seas parting, talking donkeys, immaculate conceptions, invisible wars in heaven, people raised from the dead, people healed of blindness, etc.? I haven't read them, but things like that make a book sound like folklore, much like the Greek gods and stories of them. I don't question that men wrote the bible but I do question that a magic sky fairy directed their hands.

i should preface my comments by pointing out that i have no aversion to being disfellowshipped.

i fully expect that to happen.

all of my immediate family and a great deal of my extended family have moved on with me and we all enjoy a full and satisfying life.

Yes, narcissists are often bullies. JWs are often narcissistic if not full blown narcissists. They can be aggressive, but often very passive aggressive. They can't see you or your feelings and the second they are brought up often the JW shuts down. These are typically one way relationships. My guess is that with an open mind you may see other ways that your relationship with this person is very one sided.

Boundaries are the key. We teach people how to treat us. Give a line not to cross and consequences for doing so and you'll see how much respect a person has for you.

@Sail Away - He was recognized somewhere in the first hour, I think. I watched some of it live, went to bed, then caught more the next day due to timing. I saw him on there the first when I watched live.

I know people that were there that aren't what one would call elite. Just because you didn't know doesn't make it elitist. It's amazing how personal people take this stuff as if somehow it was a personal attack on them.

Let's say it was private. That still doesn't make it elitist. It just means you don't know those people. I'm going to an Apostafest in August that I'm sure some don't know about. It's not elitist, it's just impossible to literally make sure that every ex-JW knows.

How does "I didn't know" become "it's everyone else's fault that I didn't know" become "you're elitist"? This is why we can't have nice things, lol.

By the way, great job Sacha, Sherrie, Joho, Bev, Fifth, Normalfulla, Lloyd, Angus freaking Stewart, etc. That was well done. Hundreds watched live online and had a good time.

So much butthurt. Did he reject your story or something?

I get that he's rubbed people the wrong way at times but to discount what he's done over petty stuff is pretty weak.

I ask my guests on the podcast what helped them wake up and most credit him among others. He's helped a lot more people than those that are so mad. Do you know how much time he must spend dealing with the cult to try to help people and then the hate he gets? I just do podcasts and it takes a lot of time. Let's not act like he's getting wealthy off his activism. If he did I wouldn't begrudge it though.

How someone can try to turn a great and encouraging event into their own bitch fest based on one guy is pretty sad. Sounds more like jealousy than anything when it's so petty.
