Interesting story OC.
I like how Cofty put it. I think that might state my feelings better. Ethically I have no issues. I'd have to take most things on a case by case basis though, I think.
i have made a poll to try to determine the impact of the wt's no blood policy on ex members.. if you are an exjw, please participate.. vote here:.
*oops...hang on here...i have to make a new poll...this one lets you vote more than once.
i will post the new one .

Actually, I voted that yes I would accept all.
I'm sure you felt alive OC, but not all that take blood or blood products are in a life and death situation. I wonder if some might feel regret after due to brainwashing.

I don't think your poll can accurately reflect the impact. For instance, I would accept any blood if it meant my life, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't feel weird or turn away non-essential blood. I honestly don't know what I would do until put in the situation. I'd like to think I'm over that brainwashing, but I've never faced it and haven't done my research on the ins and outs of the options out there. The impact truly goes deeper than simple yes or no. I wonder how people feel after accepting blood too. Just my 2 cents.
we leave friday for his disney cruise wish.
he's also a big star wars fan, and they have a star wars day on one of the seafaring days.
to say we are all looking forward to this is an understatement.
That's awesome. Enjoy it and make memories for a lifetime.
i've heard many experiences about how jehovah answers the prayers of jw's - convention items about pioneers gas bills, car repairs, job opportunities.
now, if this is true, you are actually stating that god has directly intervened in your life.
taken action on your behalf.
^^^^^^^ Only if they happen to get a good spot though, right? They only speak up when something good happens.

Prayer was one thing that always tripped me up. Inevitably whenever I prayed for help doing "Jehovah's will" and forced myself into bad decisions to fit the JW mold nothing ever worked out, but hey that was just Satan persecuting me, right? So I'd double down and push harder to be a pioneer or ministerial servant or to study or whatever and it always blew up on me.
On the other hand, when leaving the Borg (and I didn't know that's what I was doing) I would pray and things worked out so much better. I thought that Jehovah was answering my prayers and I was being blessed because things were working out. But I couldn't grasp why 1. Jehovah was blessing me for not attending meetings or going in service and 2. he was doing things for me while kids starved in other lands, while kids were abused, etc. It made no sense.
I now realize that none of it had to do with any supreme being. It's as simple as life going better as I grew as a healthy person away from the cult and made better decisions as opposed to forcing bad culty decisions that blew up because on their face they were bad decisions.
Prayer is a farse, and the OP's example is yet more proof.

the jehovah’s witnesses settled a lawsuit this week brought by a pennsylvania woman who says the religion’s leaders covered up sexual abuse she suffered as a teenager.. the settlement came five days into a trial in which stephanie fessler, a former jehovah’s witness, claimed the religion’s parent corporation violated pennsylvania’s child abuse reporting laws by instructing local leaders – known as elders – not to report her allegations to police.. according to fessler, a middle-aged jehovah’s witness woman, terry monheim, began sexually abusing her when she was 14. at 15, fessler disclosed the abuse to her parents.
Why doesn't the Watchtower fight to change laws so that they can be forced to help those children that are sexually abused? Why don't they fight for manual reporting laws? Shouldn't they stand up for what is right and moral as the beacon of love that they claim to be? Why do they require courts to push them to help those that have been hurt under their watch? Why do they spare no cost fighting legal battles to avoid blood or to have the right to go door to door but fight AGAINST helping children or adults that were hurt as children? The answer is obvious. They're shitbags that only care about themselves. They don't help anyone charitably or otherwise. They are all talk, no action, when it comes to love. Love is an action, and they claim to show it by devoting time and money to their ministry, but not to helping those impacted by their policies and devastated for life.

Ah Jehovah's Witnesses, a disgusting organization that hides behind laws when they can and skirts them when convenient, that exploits technicalities with the same deftness that they exploit their members, that allows pedophiles to abuse children because they are God-directed and Jehovah forgot to include anything in the Bible about that precludes sexually abusing those most vulnerable. An organization that is about the letter of the law, not the spirit of the law, that would take even that so far as to keep dangers to children hidden. They are filthy, and so are those that would defend them. If it makes you feel better to be technically "right" more than acting in the best interests of children, feel free to join the cult and feel morally superior while allowing immoral things to go on with impunity.
Every settlement is yet another loss for the Borg. I love that donations are going to this (well, I actually wish they never had to, but if they have to go somewhere, might as well help someone). I hope that more and more do whether technically legal or not because I hate organizations that would systematically leave children vulnerable, and if you have any morals you should care more about that than any technicality or legal jargon. Jehovah's Witnesses exploit everyone from children to adults and any hit to them is a win for humanity, morality, love, and goodness.
Some care about kids, and others care only about legal technicalities and it's pretty sad and speaks to their character.
despite repeated counsel and it's willful and voluntary wouldn't that be brazen conduct calling for judicial comitee?
Why, are you hoping to get another disfellowshipped person in your congregation so that you can be baffled yet again by shunning? Are you hoping someone goes down for this?
