Does every thread have to devolve into Richard Oliver's diarrhea of the keyboard where he just types and types and takes it away from the topic into mind-numbing arguments over semantics and minor details?

Welcome 1799! Thanks for sharing your story.
Take your time, be kind to yourself, and realize that once you got new information you took action, so you don't need to blame yourself for anything.
Only you know if you want to disassociate or not. My wife and I did and it is NOT playing by their rules. That's often the verbiage used by those who end up trying to fade on here for years and who actually have to jump through hoops to keep their fade alive. Faders play their game, disassociating ends it once and for all. That closure for us was worth anything. We took a stand when we joined, and we took one when we left. If you need to do it for you, more power to you. If you need to fade, that's cool too, but do what YOU want, not what others on here tell you to do. I'm so glad I didn't listen because I can be anyone I want now without fear of breaking a fade. Some others fade and can do the same if the circumstances play out right. It all depends on the situation. For me though, fading was an option until a predetermined point that we agreed upon, and once we hit that point because elders started calling, we decided not to play their games and to blow it all up by disassociating, and it was so liberating.
Take care of yourself. Use your years left to the full!

Interesting story OC.
I like how Cofty put it. I think that might state my feelings better. Ethically I have no issues. I'd have to take most things on a case by case basis though, I think.

Actually, I voted that yes I would accept all.
I'm sure you felt alive OC, but not all that take blood or blood products are in a life and death situation. I wonder if some might feel regret after due to brainwashing.

I don't think your poll can accurately reflect the impact. For instance, I would accept any blood if it meant my life, but that doesn't mean I wouldn't feel weird or turn away non-essential blood. I honestly don't know what I would do until put in the situation. I'd like to think I'm over that brainwashing, but I've never faced it and haven't done my research on the ins and outs of the options out there. The impact truly goes deeper than simple yes or no. I wonder how people feel after accepting blood too. Just my 2 cents.

God answers JW prayers about trivialities while ignoring the abuse of little children
by jambon1 ini've heard many experiences about how jehovah answers the prayers of jw's - convention items about pioneers gas bills, car repairs, job opportunities.
now, if this is true, you are actually stating that god has directly intervened in your life.
taken action on your behalf.

^^^^^^^ Only if they happen to get a good spot though, right? They only speak up when something good happens.

Prayer was one thing that always tripped me up. Inevitably whenever I prayed for help doing "Jehovah's will" and forced myself into bad decisions to fit the JW mold nothing ever worked out, but hey that was just Satan persecuting me, right? So I'd double down and push harder to be a pioneer or ministerial servant or to study or whatever and it always blew up on me.
On the other hand, when leaving the Borg (and I didn't know that's what I was doing) I would pray and things worked out so much better. I thought that Jehovah was answering my prayers and I was being blessed because things were working out. But I couldn't grasp why 1. Jehovah was blessing me for not attending meetings or going in service and 2. he was doing things for me while kids starved in other lands, while kids were abused, etc. It made no sense.
I now realize that none of it had to do with any supreme being. It's as simple as life going better as I grew as a healthy person away from the cult and made better decisions as opposed to forcing bad culty decisions that blew up because on their face they were bad decisions.
Prayer is a farse, and the OP's example is yet more proof.

Reveal article: Jehovah’s Witnesses settle suit alleging cover-up of child sex abuse
by AndersonsInfo inhttps://www.revealnews.org/blog/jehovahs-witnesses-settle-lawsuit-alleging-coverup-of-child-sex-abuse/.
by trey bundy / february 17, 2017 .
the jehovah’s witnesses settled a lawsuit this week brought by a pennsylvania woman who says the religion’s leaders covered up sexual abuse she suffered as a teenager.. the settlement came five days into a trial in which stephanie fessler, a former jehovah’s witness, claimed the religion’s parent corporation violated pennsylvania’s child abuse reporting laws by instructing local leaders – known as elders – not to report her allegations to police.. according to fessler, a middle-aged jehovah’s witness woman, terry monheim, began sexually abusing her when she was 14. at 15, fessler disclosed the abuse to her parents.

Why doesn't the Watchtower fight to change laws so that they can be forced to help those children that are sexually abused? Why don't they fight for manual reporting laws? Shouldn't they stand up for what is right and moral as the beacon of love that they claim to be? Why do they require courts to push them to help those that have been hurt under their watch? Why do they spare no cost fighting legal battles to avoid blood or to have the right to go door to door but fight AGAINST helping children or adults that were hurt as children? The answer is obvious. They're shitbags that only care about themselves. They don't help anyone charitably or otherwise. They are all talk, no action, when it comes to love. Love is an action, and they claim to show it by devoting time and money to their ministry, but not to helping those impacted by their policies and devastated for life.
