The reality of "shunning" and character assasination highlighted at the Australian Royal Commission
by stuckinarut2 inonce again, the arc has brilliantly highlighted the reality that any witness who either fades or disassociates is subjected to active official shunning by the organization.. the "brothers" tried to state that it was the choice of the indiviual who steps away from the organization to shun them!
they actually tried to make it out to be the fault of the one who leaves!
then they tried to say that those who fade are not shunned!.

Fuck 'em. They are nothing but lying manipulative sacks of cult indoctrination. It was disgusting to listen to them, much like the apologists we have here on the forum. Nothing but obfuscation and spin because they are all about appearance and don't care about substance. -

QCS Telecom signs up with Allied Fiber
by StarTrekAngel ini don't recall seeing this come up after the document regarding qcs telecom.. leasing 288 miles of dark fiber is not cheap.
in fact, it borders in the crazy.. http://www.alliedfiber.com/news/press-releases/qcstelecom-signs-20-year-lease-agreement-with-allied-fiber/.

I assume that they made the deal to allow them to pump out more indoctrination into their cult, which is by default nefarious.

Looking forward to going to Memorial this year!
by kpop ini have some tricks to play.
i know it may sound childish but i feel that creating havoc and forcing the memorial to be postponed will be the highlight of the night!
wish me luck!.

Don't be THAT apostate. It only makes us all look like douchebags. Let them have their Memorial in peace. You only prove their assertions and make them feel persecuted when you play the part that they would reserve for you as someone that is out.

How many JW's believe to their last breath . .
by nicolaou ini can easily believe that thousands did all through the watchtowers glory years but especially after '95 the whole thing has been unravelling.
kidding yourself to maintain family relationships and social networks is *somewhat* understandable in life but on your deathbed?.
i think the demographic for jw's may actually get younger as time goes on.

The saddest thing to me is the ex-JWs that still believe and defend the organization, or those that are exposed to TTATT and still believe.

The Danger of Settlements
by Tech49 ini was pondering the recent influx of lawsuits against wt, specifically in regards to the child abuse cases (ie.
conti, fessler, lopez, etc).. in each of these, wt has settled for an "undisclosed" amount, assumed to be in the millions of dollars each.
i know there are many many more cases, subject for a different thread i'm sure.. i was reading something completely unrelated a while back that mentioned the dangers of settlement agreements for a large corporation or business (not just wt).

Like I said earlier, JW defenders like Fisherman focus on legalities because they cannot defend Jehovah's Witnesses morally even by JWs own doctrine regarding reporting wrongdoing. I have to walk away because you disgust me just like your pedo pal organization. I hope the things you protect with glee are never visited upon your family. -

Richard, you asked what I believe and that's what I answered. I made no claim to speak the the legality, nor did you ask that. I do not know Australian law. Maybe the WT gets off as far as that goes for the past, I don't know. From what I understood the ARC wasn't so much about punishment for the past as it was establishing the culture of religions that concerned them so that they could make things better for the future.
I honestly don't care about the legalities unless somehow the WT is damaged monetarily. Nothing any legal system can do will get back the lives ruined due to their teachings and policies. They could win every legal case and still be a horrific paradise for pedophiles and immoral organization. Unless the legal system somehow shuts them down, which won't happen, it has no bearing on how truly awful they treated so many victims and they have pedophilia on their hands for allowing it to go unchecked.
Moral and legal issues do intertwine as well. Often legalities address moral issues as a basis, but morals aren't based in legalities. You can't separate them entirely.

I don't have lnowledge of every case in the ARC situation. If they knew though, which apparently they did or things wouldn't have been documented, then yes they should be responsible for not reporting, even as their own doctrine would have them do.

Look, horrible abuses went on in the house next door growing up. They were JWs, and unfortunately they studied with my mom and fucked over the next three decades of my life. My best friend was next door. I had no clue what was going on until it all came out decades later. Nobody knew, including the congregation, and nothing could have been done. Had it been known we would have reported it. Why? No legal reason, it's just part of being a good person. Sadly, JWs don't really care about being good people, they only care about technicalities and written rules and miss out on chances to help.
In their own religious doctrine, failure to report what you know is implied consent to what happened and you could be disciplined for not speaking up. Yet those bastards know the kids are likely being raped and do nothing. They share responsibility for what goes on, by their own doctrine, and are hypocrites at best.

Richard, as I previously stated, Watchtower cannot know everything that goes on and therefore cannot be held accountable. I don't know why someone of your intellect couldn't see that.
