first non-witness affiliated visitor
by notalone ini know this is sad but last night was the first time we have had a non-witness affiliated visitor to my home.
we have had workmen and the such but never someone over for a meal and just visit.
it was very impromptu.

I'm really happy for you. We just finished work in our basement and are looking forward to having new friends come over to hang out, play pool, watch tv, eat, etc. It's exciting and fun to have people over that actually want to come over. JW "get togethers" have so much other stuff attached to them. I'm glad things went well and hope you do it more.

We are becoming champions of grief. We lost twin B.

she was just supposed to check heartbeats on the two little ones and they were going strong!
but because she had extra time and she can be quite anal about her work (which is a good thing) she decided to take some measurements.

I never said that there was anything wrong with starting the thread, I merely asked what was behind it and wondered if you had somewhere in particular you were going with it beyond the basic story. Like I said, it was tragic and sad. They didn't deserve that treatment. It was just a question, no offense intended. You posted with zero context and I was just seeking some to understand why this in particular at this time. I thought maybe something else inspired it in particular.

How many of you followed the WTS direction on education years ago and have been screwed by it?
by Julia Orwell ini'm really interested in this question because i've heard for years that if you forgo further education and go pioneering, when you have a family down the track you will get a good job because jehovah will provide for you because you pioneered.
as long as i was a kool-aid drinker, even then, i thought, "how does pioneering pay your bills?
surely education should come first.

I turned down scholarships to a great engineering program to pioneer. I also had a great business opportunity come my way just a month or so before pioneering that I turned down. I could have been on the cutting edge of the mobile technology movement. I clean houses now with my wife. Honestly though, I enjoy what I do and love our customers and cleaning saved me in many ways, as it helped open my eyes to lies I was told by the Borg about how "worldly" people were and gave me the chance to listen to books and podcasts all day that gave me new perspectives. Few things are all good or all bad, and I've made the most of where I ended up for sure despite missed opportunities.

Is there some reason for starting this thread? I'm just wondering, as it seems out of nowhere. It sounds like a horrible scenario. Are you stringing this out and then going to show us something that it didn't happen or something?
