Damn Sparky, sorry about the sword and the flag. Cults make people do crazy things for stupid reasons. It was my maternal grandfather that left me the watch too, and my mom got rid of it. There just aren't a lot of good moments growing up in something like we did. Thankfully I had people like my grandfather in my life too. My grandpa would tell me how proud he was of me and taught me things unlike my own parents.

@Sparky - Didn't Accutron make some tuning fork watches like Bulova? I always wanted one of those.
I clean houses with my wife so collections of $15-50k are out of my league. I liked looking at those stores in the diamond district because they were things I'll likely never buy. The Tourneau store was my favorite though because it had everything from Casio and Nixon to Patek Phillipe and Vacheron Constantine. I actually could have afforded something there, though the trip alone cost enough that I wasn't going to buy anything.
The antique pocket watch that my mom threw out because she thought it had a false religious symbol on it (mentioned in my podcast) was a Hamilton. It was gold and had a gold chain and knife with my grandpa's initials engraved in it.

@pepperheart - If you like the watch, it counts.
@WingCommander - Nice watch! A classic Seiko look. I'll have to share a pic or two of mine later when I get home.

@WingCommander - Yep, I'm busted. Too many of my watches rip out my arm hair, lol. So I don't wear many in my collection. I never had anything high end, I like unique watches like the old Seiko AKA or Alba watches, Citizen 1481010 Independent watches, jump hours, mystery dials, etc.
I used to frequent WatchUseek forums myself. At one point I had an online watch store. I was a dealer for Tokyo Bay and Fila and CTI, among others.
I too like EDC stuff, and although I want to geek out on all the things, I'm a minimalist when it comes to practicing it. I have a super minimalist keychain and wallet. Cool stuff.

I guess I have a doppleganger out in Queens, lol. I would have been happy to have seen someone from here.

@Fisherman - I'm assuming you're referring to Farmers Blvd in Queens? That's what I found in a quick Google search. We stayed in Weehawken NJ and didn't drive in NYC anywhere. I guess you could have seen me walking around or on a subway somewhere. We walked Chinatown, Little Italy, Koreatown, went to the NY Botanical Garden in the Bronx for the Chihuly exhibit, were out around 98th and Riverside, walked Central Park, and took the Lincoln Harbor ferry back and forth from our hotel, if that helps any. Oh, and we went to the diamond district and walked around there some because I love watches.

While there I had three young men approach me and ask what the JW on my shirt stood for. After telling them it turns out that one of the young men had studied and been interested in the cult but felt like something was off. I got to explain to all of them just some of what was "off" about them. It was a great experience.
