Thank you so much for sharing. You're right in that leaving (we left 2 years ago) doesn't make life perfect, and it's fascinating to me that you kept family, but that sense of freedom is priceless. I'm happy for all three of you. What a beautiful thing.

Why cast your pearls before swine? Fisherman isn't worth your arguments. He's a trophy, a guy stuck here for 14 years defending disgusting things. Every court needs a jester, a disgusting pedophile defending jester. Someone to obfuscate and deflect, to represent the cult of Jehovah's Witnesses by putting their lack of humanity on full display.
Don't feed the troll. He's proven in this thread, like many others, what caliber of person we're dealing with. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt after his hiatus and thought that maybe he was just a misguided cult victim deserving empathy, and he's proven yet again to be soulless and gross in his defense of his cult teachings, this time going so far as to exploit the misery and pain of people unrelated to the subject matter to defend child sexual abuse just like his cult.

^^^^^Other than taking the heat off your JW brethren what does the above have to do with anything? Shouldn't you be studying for your meeting tomorrow Fishy?
Honestly, the tactic of using the abuse of other children to take the heat off the cult speaks volumes about your character. You are a disgusting human piece of trash.

Thanks everybody. I even had a PIMI dub email me today. They listened to one episode and said they could understand why I would leave, but of course they pinned it all on my family issues. Cult issues are often whitewashed by those in denial.
Anyway, it's been interesting. I'll have a new episode of "shunned" ready to go next weekend. I'm doing one interview Sunday as well for December's episode, trying to get ahead of schedule.
It's a lot of work, but a week like this makes it that much more worthwhile.

So as some of you know I have a podcast called This JW Life. I put my story out there in 9 parts, and I've had lots of great experiences so far and met lots of nice people and I've made new internet friends, even some in person. This last seven days though has been soooooo cool!
On Sunday my wife and I traveled to meet a listener that is PIMO. She's in her 60's, married, and has kids and grandkids, all of whom are in the cult. They even work for JWs, pretty much all of the adults. So if she were to leave she would literally lose everything and everyone. Well, we arranged to meet her in a restaurant since her husband was away, we had a cover story in case anyone saw us and wondered who we were, particularly me as I have a beard so I can't claim to be a JW, and we just had a great time. She got to be her authentic self and let her guard down. We just talked and swapped stories and my wife and I made a new friend, and she got to release some of that pent up emotion from her life.
Just last night I got an email from Australia. This lady explained that she started listening to my podcast 3 weeks ago, that it confirmed so much of what she thought and opened her eyes to other things, and then she went and read some of the books that I recommended on one of my episodes. She's had a hard life in Jehovah's loving organization, facing lots of abuse, and now as an adult with a husband and kids she's taking a stand. She submitted a letter of disassociation just yesterday morning. Her son is leaving with her. Her husband is supportive, even if not ready to make a move himself.
Today I was telling a client (I clean houses with my wife) about the lady from Australia and he was excited. He is a former Congressman and he has the hookup at our local newspaper. He asked if I'd ever be interested in being interviewed for a story to which I emphatically said yes! So he's going to see if he can pull some strings and get my story into the paper that goes out to our city of roughly a million people.
I can't believe what this thing has become. I hoped for maybe a few hundred downloads, and I'm up over 14,500. I hoped to maybe find someone that wanted to email me or that I could help someone that was already out to feel less alone or process their own story, and now I'm making friends and people are actively leaving the cult and I'm helping people tell their own stories on my spinoff podcast "shunned". I never expected this and it is magical. What a blessing from Jehovah! ;)
Oh, and this isn't just a thinly veiled plug, I've genuinely had an amazing week but I'll link to my two podcasts below if they can help anyone.

Do you believe in god?

No, there is no evidence for the god of the Bible, and if there is, it owes us an apology. Could there be something more advanced than humans out there? Sure, but there also might not be. None of that means there is a god, especially not in the sense we we're taught as cult victims. The god of the Bible is an invention of humans, reflective of us, with many of the same foibles for something supposedly better than us.

My story and what I'm trying to do with it
by Ft2188 inmy dad was an elder my entire life and my sister a regular pioneer for most of my life, along with my mother.
ill never forget being 4 years old and staring up at the stars outside and my dad leaning over to and saying "look what jehovah made for you".
my response, "but how do you know god is real"?

Nothing is a misuse of trust so long as you are up front with people about your intentions. When people are giving you their life story though, at least in my view, you need to do what you say and preserve the sanctity of whatever they give you. I take it very seriously. If you want to start a blog, make sure thst anyone whose story you are using knows it and agrees to that. Do one post as a sample so that others have their expectations set. If you're going to add or edit in any way, let them see it first and approve it.

Wow, good for you for getting through that mess, and good for those like the girl that helped you when she found out about your situation. I did a podcast series about my life called This JW Life and now I'm helping others to tell their story on a podcast called "shunned". If you'd like to tell your story on it let me know. I release one each month. Feel free to pm me or email me through the website at shunnedpodcast.com and we can work things out.
Best wishes on your project.

usualusername1 - Dubstepped I don't recall asking people to write my punchlines. If I have can you send me the link.
My actual punchline is
So I brought home a fat prostitute...You literally said in this very thread that you needed help with a punchline and the question "what would you write as a punchline" appears in your post. You also failed to provide your own at the time. There's your link. Look above. Gee, where could I possibly have got that impression.
Look, I don't honestly care that much, it just seemed to me that in order to deliver your comedy well it needed to come from you and fit your humor. Again, on your original post you ask for our help as if you can't come up with your own punchline. It's your own words.
Good luck with the routine, I hope you put something together to be proud of.

Um, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but it seems to be a theme that you come here asking people to write your jokes for you. I mean, the punchline IS the joke. As a "comedian" shouldn't that kind of be your job? Maybe I'm missing something here, but having us source things or whatever makes us the ones finding the comedy while you are the comedian.
