Does anyone remember?

so back when the borganization took over the congregations and their money when "forgiving" the loans for the mortgages, i seem to remember there was a congregation that stood up to them.

it didn't work, of course, but they caused quite a stir.

does anyone remember what congregation it was or any details where i could search and find more about it on here?

It didn't work, of course, but they caused quite a stir. Does anyone remember what congregation it was or any details where I could search and find more about it on here? I've tried to find some of the discussions but I'm not great at searching on here and can't remember any terms specific enough to locate it. I did some searches but could have done that forever and never probably would have found it with the generic terms I had in mind. I can't remember enough specifics.

'Experiences(tm)'! Made up or totally true??

at one assembly(tm), i was asked to relate an 'experience(tm)' which i did.

however, during rehearsals, the geezer in charge elder or co or some such title, told me that i shouldn't tell it the way it was.

i did a 're-enactment(tm)' with another 'brother(tm)'.

Mine were changed by circuit overseers to make them "more encouraging", essentially to embellish them so they sounded more grand. Whether it was a part where I gave a personal experience, where I played a friend and it was supposed to be his experience, or whether I was giving my goals from the platform, none were ever good enough on their own merits without their manipulation of what I was to say.

this is what my children tell me... get over the whole jehovah's witness thing!

yes, they tell me they have gotten over the whole thing and they tell me that and i need to also.

my exgirl friend who was raised as a jw also has said the same thing.. my children say they got over it, however they are quick to point out how messed up their lives are now because of no college education and other missed opportunities.

Some people don't get it because they have nothing to compare it to.

When exjws are dismissive I find that it's often projection. They tell you to "get over it" because they totally aren't dealing with it and when you mention it this makes them look at something that hurts them. They're just trying to shove it down, they aren't processing it or working through it. They don't want to because it hurts, so they don't like you doing it.

the humanist organisation in the uk wants to protect non-religious people who leave their church/religion from being punished for doing so.

they want the religious hate crime legislation in the uk to be extended to people who are not religious.

i hope they will succeed.

I'm not sure if I'm in favor it it being criminal but I certainly don't think that organizations like Jehovah's Witnesses that promote it from the top down should be given charitable status.

i think it's really sad that people that wasted countless hours preaching for a cult are deciding to waste more hours on that same cult after leaving it.. get a hobby.

@smiddy Yeah I saw that too. I think it was supposed to intimidate the protesters, a show of force. All it did was make them look more culty. People noticed, and not in a good way for them. They are over the top ridiculous. And that's how a protest should be done. Peacefully, let them show how crazy they are.

Narcissism

i saw this video a few days ago by jw analyzer that was very disturbing.

what i have learned and experienced about a narcissist is that they will openly confess their wrongdoing, but they do it by accusing someone else of it.

i guess that is called projection.. in this video, the guy picks out 2 tactics of "satan" .

I haven't watched this video in particular but I'm very well aware of what they do. Narcissists are all about blame and outward projection, just like you said. JWs are a very narcissistic organization. Just think about terms like being "used" in the congregation. They tell you exactly what they do to you in those ways, and they also accuse people on the outside of being deceiving all the while they are the ones deceiving you.

Anyway coming back from my blunder?

my oldest boy got pissed that i started going back to meetings so i had one last conversation with him as he moved out.

(only went back to try and not loose whole family) during the conversation things got a bit heated and i mentioned a couple of false prophecies in the bible the rest of family heard so now they think i don’t believe at all.

guess their right think my going back was just a ruse, yes that’s true to.

You can't live for others and be happy if you're being inauthentic. Not in the long run. So who are you and what do you want? You're going to endure pain in this one way or the other so you might as well endure the pain that moves you forward toward growth and living your life in a way that fits you.

The protest, as far as I know, isn't some aggressive screaming match. It's a peaceful protest as far as I know. I know that it helps PIMOs that have to go as they secretly are excited to see others that are out around them. I know that it helps those that are protesting to feel seen, to get some camaraderie around a shared trauma, and it helps give some media attention at times to the voices of those wanting to be heard. Done right it does create questions in the minds and hearts of people that see the protest that are open to it. Advertising of sites that can be accessed from private devices could lead some that are questioning to finally look up "mentally diseased" sites like JW Facts. You never know who might be impacted to leave, to know that there are others like them out there, etc.
