  Strange Bar Snacks

  i know we've all had the usual salty delights placed along the beer slickened runways of our favorite and not so favorite watering holes...(pretzels, peanuts and popcorn etc....)

  but have you ever visted an establishment that veered just a tad from the traditional?

  i know of a place that always has bags of saltine crackers and squeeze mustard placed along the bar and a tables.

  Dude ... those baskets of roasted peanuts? Sure, they're fun to eat after you've umpteen drinks. But those things will give you the shits in the morning.

  Actually, greasy food before you drink helpset the alcohol.

  Otherwise, a big greasy cheeseburger & a milkshake AFTER drinking coats the stomach & brings things back into line. Head for Steak N Shake after the bar closes.

  Blecch! My dad used to love pickled pigs feet & pickled beets & pickled eggs. I can't choke down any of that shit.

  Blondie, either you live in a bigger town than mine, or I'm just not up to speed on the local watering holes. But then again, I'm really scratching my head trying to count the local bars. I think I've been inside 2 of them.

  as i sit here eat my favorite cereal for breakfast, i remember a time when it used to offend me to eat lucky charms.

  Doesn't everyone have childhood memories like that??

  Nope. I have fond childhood memories of Count Chocula, Booberry, and Frankenberry. Ditto for The Funky Phantom and Scooby Doo. Maybe my old man wasn't such a tight-ass after all ... even though Bewitched and Dark Shadows were still off limits.

  Pork rinds are NOT bar snacks. Pork rinds are road munchies. Gimee a full tank of gas, a pack of Marlboros, a Mello Yello, and a bag of hot n spicy pork rinds. I'm all set for a couple hundred miles.

  i tried "sporting clays" today and i'm hooked.... been shooting shotguns afeild for years, but trap, skeet and clays are fun games... and really improve the shooting skills.. any other "dead-eyes" in here?.

  I do have a single shot 16 guage that makes a nice "bang" in the face of clay targets. It does a helluva job on rabbits & pheasants, too.
