I was probably 16 when I first saw an R rated movie at a theater. I no longer remember which movie it was, but I DO remember the shocked reaction I got from a Dub (approximately my age) at the hall that Sunday as we talked about the movie.

White Castle, Bay-Bee! Gimme a bag of Sliders! have you tried their jalapeno cheeseburgers yet?
Taco Hell is also on my list. And Long John Silvers. I worked for both of those as a teenager, and still love the food (even though I have to pay for it now).

Campside Cook
by simplesally invalis' thread about toad in a hole got me to think of when i used to camp alot.
we used to make the egg in hole alot because it was easy.......and you got toast and an egg in one pan, no toaster needed.
what food and drink concoctions do you remember or were pretty nifty??.

I went camping with my son & other Cub Scouts last Friday. My son & I made tacos in a skillet over the campfire that night. The morning breakfast was sausage and eggs; I loaded my eggs & sausage patties between two slices of bread & made a sandwich. But for me, the best camp delicacy is a good cup of coffee, especially on a cool morning. I have an old percolator that has held a special spot in my gear box for nearly 20 years.
Desserts are always fun, too. I like to pour a couple of cans of fruit pie filling (apple, cherry, blueberry ... whatever you like) into the bottom of a large, cast iron dutch oven, and then cover the filling with cake mix blended with butter. Put the lid on the dutch oven & set it in the fire ring. Cover the lid with hot coals & let the dessert bake for about 45 - 60 minutes.

What are Americans taught about U.S and what do you really believe?
by sleepy injust wondering what exactly americans (u.s.a) are taught about their country in school .do you really salute a flag, do you swear allegiance to the country.
are you taught that you fought for freedom, and that america is the land of the free, etc etc?
do you actually believe what you are taught?

Only if you're French, Dan-O.
I do have at least one ancestor who bailed out of France a few hundred years ago to start a new life on this continent, where he would be free from religious persecution as a Huguenot. Ol' Francois had to leave nearly everything behind, but he did manage to keep his head attached to his body. He lived to the ripe old age of 103, which was quite an an accomplishment in the late 1600s & early 1700s.

"The land of the free"? In comparison to the countries from which man Americans (or their ancestors) came, it's true. And it's part of the reason for the colonists to declare their independence from England in 1776.
And yes, saluting the flag is commonplace. I know that my kids do it each morning at school, and at Scout meetings, ball games, car races, and many other events. But they're also free to decide whether to salute or not.

How long did it take you to get rid of your jw magazines?
by kls ini have seen post on the forum of persons wondering what to do with their jw magazines now that they feel they are no longer needed.
how long did it take you to feel secure enough to get rid of them and why do some feel the insecurity to keep them, even knowing they have no intention of ever going back ?

What's Your Opinion Regarding Spanking A Child?
by minimus indo you think it is ever appropriate?
should it be illegal?
do you think the bible recommends doing this?
-
Dan-O
Odrade, I understand what you're saying. My father was big on spanking, and would use whatever was handy to deliver the punishment. Sometimes it was his belt or a flyswatter. I also remember receiving welts & bruises when he used a piece of bamboo. And to me, that was excessive. Any spankings that I've delivered to my kids were always done with an open hand, and were limited to a couple of swats. I don't think it's right to beat the kids with some object or another.
