  things I do not like about xmas

  aside from the reasons jws give as it being a pagan holiday renamed..... i do not like the fact that parents think nothing of lying to their children about this mythical santa claus.

  and the constant hollywood movies making anyone who exposes the gag as an evil monster...while giving children reasons to believe that santa claus really does exist after all...ignore your older friends who have been poisoned by the secular world.. i find it appalling to ever teach a child to simply expect people to give them things just because the calendar says a certain day.. i find the mindless devoution to christmas to be just as appalling as the brainwashing jws do against it... i see people in my office acting like german clocks... the clock strikes easter and the decorate the office, strikes holloween and they decorate again...strikes christmas and more decorations..... then the frets and worries over what to get who and how much to go into debt over it.. i knew one lady who spent over $300 on a child less than two and was very depressed about two weeks later when the novelty wore off and only very inexpensive things returned as the main attraction.

  Never celebrated christmas, raised in the Borg and only been out a few months.

  The idea of it has always fascinated me, but I never felt like I missed out on something. My parents anniversary was just after christmas so they always made a big deal of that, pressies for the whole family and all that.

  I do believe that is is tooo comercialised and people spent way too much money on the whole thing. Whenever I told someone at the shops that I did not celebrate it due to religious beliefs they said what a great idea.

  As far as getting the family together for christmas I think it's great but why do many families only do it at christmas time, shouldn't they get together as often as they can.

  Having said all that I have no idea what I'll do for christmas this year, I'm hoping to spend it with my mum, she is no longer a JW and her new husband and his family get together for a BBQ and swap pressies, pretty low key. Would love to do that, take my kids too, see how they like it.

  please dont take offence but ive just realised something maybe its been touched on before,.but when i was reading the thread on bil cosby i read the one off obviously secret.

  now as i am a white person i assumed he was white until he stated he was black.

  so when i thought about it, i imagine everyone on this site is white, does everyone who is black imagine everyone else is black, and anyone oriental imagine everyone else is oriental.

  I'm an Aussie of english and german decent.

  So in the winter I'm white, in the summer a nice warm brown colour.

  Had Lunch with Prisca.

  i'm feeling really good today.. i had lunch with prisca yesterday, it was really great.

  we talked about the reasons we both left the borg, it was really great to talk to someone face to face about everything.

  the best thing is she only lives 10 minutes away from me, how great is that.. she moved to melbourne about 12 months ago.

  She moved to melbourne about 12 months ago. She moved here to sever all contacts with the Borg, still felt like she was being watched all the time.

  Were going to the ex-jdub reunion next week too, i'm really looking forward to that.

  I'm so excited, not feeling so lonely any more. Feel like things are moving forward for me.

  I had a visitor!!!!!!

  whoooeeeee!

  about 10 minutes ago i had a visitor!

  she was a sister that we used to pal around with, we had several dinners together and she and her husband and my husband played cards together.

  That's fantastic sunspot, I'm sooo happy for you. It's so nice when we can reaquaint ourelves with aols close friends.

  It will be nice to ba able to be there for her to help her through her break away from the borg.

  I read you last post and just had to tell you I feel for you, I know what you are going through must be horrible.

  I was i your borfriends position and shunned my first love for the JW religion, that was 11 years ago. Now after trying to be a good witness and a failed marriage, I'm now disfellowshipped, I wish I'd chosen him. I still see his from time to time and we still love each other immensly, but he is now married with two kids and loves his wife and kids. I'm so happy for him, was all I ever wanted for him.

  I know it's hard but just try to move forward, your boyfriend will never truly be yours, religion will always get in the way, it has an amazing control on people.

  I really hope one day that your wounds begin to heal and you can start to feel whole again.

  Protecting your kids

  just saw a great news report on how to protect you kids from predators.. it all revolves around a code word.. you and your kids agree on one.

  if someone different is to pick your kids up you give then the code word.

  if they don't know the word then the kids know that you did not send them.

  My sister has been having contractions on and off for the last 12 hours.

  Her due date was yesterday so here's hoping.

  She is my only sibling, I'm so excited, I'm finally going to be on aunty.

  changed my mind a bit on the design, still a butterfly though.. it hurt like hell getting it done but was worth all the pain.

  Go ahead and rant, is'nt that what the board is for.

  I really feel for you, i never pioneered but my mum did for a while and found it really hard, she's now sorry for dragging us kids around with her and the stress that she put us through.

  I know what you mean about the lack of support, never got the support I needed. A lot still in the organisation have the same feelings.
