I would be happy to talk with someone who can give me some options. However, I will not return the kittens to the mother at this point.

But perhaps you should return them to the mother. You may be contributing to the feral cat colonies when you take the kittens away from the nursing mother and cause her to go into heat sooner.

I appreciate what you are saying. We are in the process of trying to trap the mother and the father in order to get them "fixed". If I thought it would be helpful I would have returned them, but by now the mother would reject them. They have experienced the human touch for the past week and I believe they will be more "tame" than if we trapped them when they were older. They would have a difficult time adapting. I have been in touch with a feral cat organization and they couldn't help me because of the area where we found the kittens.

Okay everyone here is an update. All the kitties are doing well. I have pictures, but no clue how to upload the pictures. I have the pictures on my yahoo account so pm me with your address if you want to see them and I will try to send it out.
I think all of the fleas are gone, but we were just told to keep combing them with a flea comb. I may be tempted to try that nutritional yeast stuff.
One of the runts (there are two) had some really loose stool. Then this morning his left eye was glued stuff with some yucky stuff. So I jumped in the car and took all five of them to the Humane Society hospital. They looked at the kittens and said that they were all doing fine that that "goopies" in the eye is quite normal. By lunch time two other kitties had "goopie" eyes. Go figure. The HS said they all looked great and will take them from me next week. I am sad to let them go, but I am getting married a week from this Saturday and then heading to Hawaii -- I really can't care for them any longer.
Oh yeah, one more fun thing. All of them had swollen genitals as the big male cat was "nursing" on them. Ewwww. We had to buy this stuff called "Bitter Apple" and spray it on all of the behinds. LOL I hope it works!
Its not easy being a "foster parent", but in the future when I have a bit more time (and less work), I think I may volunteer with the HS. It is a rewarding experience.

My dad was the PO when I was DF'd as a teenager. I didn't get special treatment (yes, I did expect some), as I believe there was a power struggle going on in the hall at that time between the elders. My dad never did step down though. He LOVED being the PO. He wasn't directly involved with the JC, but being the PO he was told what occured.

my pet bunny "hoshi" died on sunday.
she got a bacterial infection, and we did everything to save her.
spent the night in the animal emergency room but they couldn't do much for her.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I may be able to understand a bit how you feel. I lost my guinea pig about a month ago and I am still grieving. I know, sounds dumb and my fiancee doesn't understand it, but I miss the little guy. I let him gnaw on our planter box and didn't realize that pressure treated wood was poisonous. I feel like his death was my fault.

this past weekend was wonderful, i was in my yard and got all my new flowers planted and got a nice bit of sun on my arms and face .... starting to look like a california girl again.

my parents who have dutifully shunned me for nearly 9 years had the nerve to ask me for money.
it wasn't for food, a car payment, house payment or anything like that.
Even if I could afford it I would not give them 1 penny. Before I hung up on him I told him never to contact me again for anything. He would have to get help from his JW son or his JW family. The bank of Tyler M is closed forever to them.

Yes, the hot sun will cause wilting. You do need to water when you have hot sun, I should have specified. I live in a rather cold area where 90 degrees is rather an exception.
Thanks for the clarification. I am still pretty new at gardening and I tend to overwater.
We have about one bag of garbage a week and that is because we recycle and compost everything else. I particuarly like to put the eggshells around some of the "tastier" plants to help keep the slugs away.
