Wow! Great news! Maybe this will get the ball rolling, and more victims will come forward. The watchtower needs to pay every child who has been hurt by their policy of hiding the truth about molesters in their midst.

I used to have nightmares about Armageddon when I was a child. I also used to dream that crosses were chasing me and trying to hurt me. I guess it was from learning at such a young age that crosses were bad. I feel so bad for all those who have to grow up into such a fear filled cult.

If someone is at death's door, and there is not much chance for recovery, why not try these things that he recommends? Who knows, it just may help. Even if it does only cause a placebo effect, I don't see any harm, as many illnesses can be cured faster by positive thinking.
Before all of the big time pharmaceutical companies sprang up, people used natural herbs, vitamins, and home remedies to help cure themselves, and I think that there are still benefits that can be gained by trying these natural remedies.

What a great artist he was! I am a big Fleetwood Mac fan, and one of their greatest albums (Besides all of them) is a really early one from 1971 called Bare Trees. There are some really great songs on there, including the very first rendition of Sentimental Lady. Good stuff...
Suicide is horrible. He left behind many friends and loved ones.
RIP.

Just "discovered" sweet potatoes and yams
by compound complex insweet potato was already an important crop on pacific islands when europeans landed on the islands: easter island (roggeveen, 1722), new zealand (cook, 1769), and the hawaiian islands (cook, 1778).
sweet potato, known as kumara, was a staple in the diet of the maoris of new zealand; interestingly, the name kumar is used for this plant in peru!
rongo ma-tane, a maori god, protects this plant; a buried tuber is powerful enough to cause enemy to go mad and run away.. http://mrbrownthumb.blogspot.com/2007/11/storing-sweet-potato-vine-tubers.html .

Yummy Sweet Potatoes! I like them steamed with a little butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.
Sylvia's recipe of French fried with honey sounds really good too! Looks like I need to go to the store soon...

Had the JW's not been as hard core as they are regarding homosexuality, I would probably still be in. Being Gay is not possible in the Org. unless one decides to become celibate, but even then, there would be plenty of gossip and nasty looks, so it still would not be worth it. Unfortunately I learned this first hand.
It's their loss. It used to bother me, but not so much anymore. Let them judge and condemn. I am comfortable enough in my own skin that their hate has no effect on me any longer. Unfortunately though, there are countless other Gay people who have died-(Suicide) due to the shunning and guilt that is brought upon them by the Watchtower, and for that I am sad.
I am glad that there are some Mormons who have decided to let their hearts guide them rather than let a religion dictate how they should feel by becoming more accepting of Gay people. Good for them!
Diest, I have to wonder if those 12% of JW's who think that Homosexuality should be accepted by society are themselves Gay. Estimates are that in general appx. 10% of Humans are Gay, which pretty much covers the small 12% percentage of JW's who feel that it is Okay. Interesting.
Scott77, Thanks for the informative thread!!!

It's nice hearing from you! I am glad that you are doing well. Because of you and a couple of others, ie; Snowbird and my Partner, I have started to learn how to pray again, and am trying to give God a chance in my life once again. It is difficult sometimes due to the damage that was caused by the WTBTS, so I am just taking it one day at time, seeing how things go. I'm not sure where it will lead, but I figured that it was worth a try.
Wishing much peace to you as well as your fleshly and Spiritual family!
