I have been going for over 8 months now, and it has helped me a lot. Make sure that you find someone who you are comfortable with, because you will be exposing all of yourself emotionally to them. It is not uncommon to go through a few different ones until you find one that you are comfortable enough with to open up. I think that is the most important thing when finding one. Good luck!

Did therapy help you?
by gutted ini am considering going to a therapist.
even though i believe i have gotten better and made some progress (it has been roughly a year since i stopped attending meetings, doing anything jw-wise), i still have a lot of negative self-talk which is hard to overcome, especially during off days like today.. i find the hardest things for me is low self-esteem and social interactions/anxiety.
i'm sure some of you can sympathsize, and though i am not fully blaming my issues soley to my jw upbring (born-in) i know it compounded those issues.. .

Lovelylil,
What are your thoughts on the stuff going up for auction? Do you find any of the items interesting? Do you think it is a good idea, being that it will benefit the victims and their families?
Thanks!

I actually took the time to read the whole manifesto that Satanus posted, and afterwords was so interested that I did more research on Ted Kaczynski. I also found another site that listed all of the lots that are going for auction, which includes hundreds of books, and it is interesting to see the different types and titles of the books he had in his possession.
In regards to bidding on anything, I do not know if I will or not yet. I'm sure there will be bids from museums, collectors etc. and all of the items will go for big $$$. I love the Corona typewriter, and am surprised it is in such good condition after being used so much!
It is nice that the money will go to the Victim's families, maybe some of them will use the money to help others who have been hurt.
Anyways, thanks to the OP for starting the thread, and thanks to Satanus for your post that got me interested enough to do some really interesting research on this lazy Sunday!

I am in therapy now, and have been for the past 8 months. It does really help tremendously! It does take a lot out of me sometimes to the point that I have to go right home and go to bed because of how it exhausts me, but it is a good thing, and it shows how much it works because I delve into the deepest recesses of my mind and work through the issues that I have. Even though it can be emotionally draining, it makes me feel better in the end because I am able to understand why I feel the way I do, and I learn how to control my anxiety, as well as find productive ways of handling bad things that come my way instead of keeping everything inside of me.
Try it at least and see how it goes.
Best of luck on your journey!

BabyRuth,
Kudos to you, as well as the author, MLK for the statement. What a testimony it would have been to see at least a few news reports of people holding a candle light vigil or something similar for those who died on 9/11, instead of the parties and dancing in the streets that we saw, much in the same way certain factions did after the attacks on 9/11 that hurt us so badly.
Personally, I don't know whether or not things went down the way that the Gov't says, but on that night after we heard about his demise, we lit a nice candle, NOT for Osama, but in honor of those who died because of his atrocities. We are leaving the judging up to a higher power.

Another thing that I find interesting is how last night I looked at news reports dating in range from 2001-2009 from places such as CNN, MSNBC, BBC and other news sources about Osama already being dead for years, and then today when I go to pull some of the same pages up they are mysteriously gone as if they never existed. It appears that the powers-that-be are doing a little clean up of news articles that happen to disagree with what they are now reporting. Please be sure to read the link that I posted earlier from FOX news about his death in 2001, as I have a feeling it too will strangely disappear.
If, and it seems a BIG IF Osama had been found, why shoot and kill the guy? He would be a lot more valuable alive than dead. They could have obtained a LOT of info about other terrorists etc. and he could have been a huge bargaining token, yet they supposedly just killed him and dumped him in the sea within hours, which contrary to what the Gov't says is NOT the traditional Islamic way of disposing of a body. Also strange to note that all this was done when Obama's approval ratings were taking a nosedive, the controversy over his birth cert, the choices he made regarding the economy and the other issues he is being challenged over. Especially interesting that is Osama was "killed" on the anniversary of Bush's "Mission Accomplished" speach as well as the anniversary of the announcement of Hitler's demise.
Did anyone else notice how within 15 minutes of the announcement there were already news reports showing hundreds of people at the White House with banners and flags? It seems to a lot of people that this was preplanned and staged by the obama administration and is nothing more than smoke and mirrors to distract us from the real issues that we are facing.
