  today i found out that an old friend had da'd themselves because they were molested/raped by their parent-elder(this happened some time ago)....i thought that the person left just because...which is fine with me because i'm here on this website, and obviously not a dub.. it's just shocking how the pr unit of the dub army can control everything.

  it makes me sick to my stomach.

  and, of course, everyone has abandoned this person.

  A funny story-mumbling prayers and 'putters'

  the one i remember is a sweet old gentlemen who used to come with his family (i guess because they wouldn't pay attention to him any other time).

  well, during the last prayer, an old, softspoken brother took the stand.

  the prayer was almost unintelligible.

  my parents just called and told me that the elders were going to forbid my sister to have her wedding in the hall, and refused an elder to give the talk because we were going to be in it.

  there is no reason for this because we are not df'd or da'd.

  i think my dad is going to type out his da letter tonite, he was so pissed.. to all active jw's who post here!!!.

  I love hypocrisy, I love slander!!!

  my parents-in-law have accused my wife and i of attempted fraud, of corrupting their son, of slandering them (hahahaha, the truth is much better than any lie!!

  ) associating with disfellowshipped persons, etc.. my father said he was going to do something about it...he wants to straiten things out with the elders because he thinks it isn't right that my wife and i are "informally marked".. i told him to stop being naive, and that if he defended us, eventually that he would be marked, and if he fought that, disfellowshipped.

  when we left my parents house last nite, i was looking into the face of a broken man.

  Read this book

  people have had questions in recent threads about christianity, and how judgemental it is, etc.

  read "mere christianity" by c.s.

  lewis, it's a beautiful book, although a bit dry(it's also 60 years old, so don't come back to me yelling if you think his views are out of date).

  that's what an elder told a friend i know when they confronted him about his beliefs-"if you don't believe everything that the watchtower prints, then you're not a servant of god.".

  just another instance of the elevation of an earthly magazine about the word of god.

  so, what ridiculous rules have been imposed on you guys?

  i had my jw father tell me that green shirts were rebellious, and an elder said that star wars was demonic, just to give a couple of examples.......
