he had to sign a declaration
He did and she didn't? Is this some new demonstration of the headship arrangement?
.
i was just at my sis for supper...it came up in conversation that when they (her and hubby) were on the last circuit assembly programme - relating an experience - he had to sign a declaration specifying that the experience was true.. i was completely taken aback by this...the irony etc...they were surprised that i was unaware of this.. funnily enough the reason it came up was that in a different talk an experience had been acted out that is almost certainly untrue..given that it happened to a girl who is seeing a psychiatrist for constant lieing...her father had the assembly part and must surely have also had to sign the declaration... had anyone else had to sign such a declaration or know someone who did.

for all you people who were raised witnesses, and yet got to college without parental help, i want your story.. i'm in just that situation and i need ideas.
plus it will probably be interesting too.
so, please, commence with the stories...
Are you in the USA? If yes, citizen, legal resident or other?
i don't know if this would be considered "advertising" or against any posting guidelines, but i have found something that is so delicious i don't feel it would be right to not to put this out there, it is worthy of a subject of its own on jwd.
this could become to the good citizens on this board, a sublime life affirming experience, a turning point even.
godiva white chocolate raspberry ice cream bars.
I absolutely love avocados!
The correct answer must be "zero". Change can be effected only through Holy Spirit.
i bet some still carry them.
you all know what i'm talking about; there were at least 3 brothers in the congregation that had one.
thank god my father wasn't one of them.
Only an obsessed maniac would actually lug that 40 lbs bookbag around
You could be right about that...
After the meeting a sister happened to glance down as she passed one of those briefcases left next to an aisle seat, and what did she see inside? Three handguns. The sister quietly conveyed the information to a brother, he informed the elders, the elders informed the owner of the briefcase that handguns were not permitted in the Kingdom Hall.
Brother Briefcase claimed the guns were not all his, that one belonged to his (baptized) wife and one to his 14 year old daughter. He said they needed the guns in case a certain (baptized) member of his wife's family appeared.
Love's excelling way...
so, i was happy and celebrating because of getting good grades in my courses, well i get a call from my mom.
at first the phone call was just "hi, how are you" then she laid into me saying my "problem" (meaning my divorce) was because i was putting my education first and not jah.
she goes on to tell me that the "talk today" was about people murmuring as israelites and bad things happened to them.
She said that they wanted more and more and that I was doing the same thing in trying to get a career getting more money…
1. Read her 1Tim. 4:8.
2. Tell her about Judah Ben Schroeder.
...not that I think it will do much good...

i just can't believe all the trouble witness kida are having lately in my area( (vancouver b.c).
3 years ago a witness kid (18 years old) jumped off a bridge to his death.. the latest news from the jw grapevine is that a jw kid that i knew (he is now 20) is in the insane assylum.
it seems he was found swimming towards bethel from vancouver (he left a note) this was at least a 1000 miles away and he never would have made it.
In one congr. I was in,one of the elder tolm me that 50% of the friends were taking something for mental sickness
The daughter of a good friend of mine was DF'd. For whatever reason she decided she wanted to be reinstated. The elders told her she had to "go on meds". The elders told her parents it was better for her to be on medication than to be part of the world. Sadly, the family cooperated. There was no medical need, they were simply obeying the elders directive to dope their daughter into compliance.
In another congregation the elders told one publisher that before s/he could move into the congregation s/he would have to agree to go on meds. The publisher asked why, since there was no prior history, etc. and the elder conducting the conversation said it might be because he was jealous; he had to take meds in order to function. Thankfully the publisher decided not to move into the area.
Is it really possible to get medications without demonstrating a need?
Haven't the elders been warned [through the pages of the WT] not to dispense medical advice?
Is this issue as widespread as I'm beginning to believe it is?

i just finished reading true story about the christian longo murders.
it is a fascinating account of a disturbed individual.
longo had a tremendous potential to build a good life but also a great capacity to ruin it.
His primary flaw was being a compulsive liar. But he became a thief and ultimately, a heinous murderer. But one wonders – what course could his life have taken if his intellectual and sexual drives had not been thwarted by WTS dictates?
He might have been another Michael Milken?

i really hate it when my folks use the line: "leave it to jehovah.
he will take care of (insert organizational failure here).
we just do our part.
"Leave it to Jehovah. He will take care of (insert organizational failure here). We just do our part."
My response was "How do you know he isn't using me to bring this to your attention?"
Elder's response: "Jehovah has NEVER used a woman to work changes in His organization."
*sigh*
