If you really wanted to run the mikes you could have went to a small congregation where they had to "resort" to using women for duties.

When I was still a JW, no one ever told me anything to that effect. I suppose that women would talk about it much with a man. Did that have anything to do with your decision to leave JW's? -

i hereby wholeheartedly and by my own free will request to have all records which indicate my current association with the jehovah's witnesses and it's legal entity, the watchtower bible and tract society, deleted at this time.. the extremelly long time i endured while in your company has been wonderful at times and not so much at others, just like any experience in this great life.. i've looked forward to this time for so long, in which i won't feel forced to attend all those repetitive and boring weekly meetings, add to that the exhausting and expensive assemblies, the memorial, all the time-wasting preaching activities, plus the 'expected' socializing among members.
it's all so enslaving to me!

Before You Leave The Witnesses, You MUST Make New Friends!!!
by minimus inmy advice to anyone that is thinking of leaving the "organization" is to make friends (real friends) with people other than jehovah's witnesses.
the sad truth is that jws are only conditional "friends".
they will drop you like a hot potato if they think you want to leave.

Luckily, I found some good friends at work that have helped me along.
Speaking of being dropped like a hot potato, I have only received one social visit in the past year. There is nothing like good JW friends sticking with you through thick and thin. -

HELP!! Trying to find right religion brough up as JW

i have recently decided due to the birth of a daughter that it was time to get it together and decide what to do with myself spiritually as she was going to church with her baptisit dad and i felt awful.
so, i've been using the reasoning book and reading the bible and trying to decide what's right.. spent hours looking at christmas online....saw it was traced to pagan celebrations and decided not to do it.

As I read most people's responses a thought came to mind: Most of us have been chewed up by Jehovah's Witnesses and spit out Atheists. This was what happened to me. When I realized that JW's did not have the truth, I thought there would be another religion that was out there that had the truth. Examine the Bible, not religions' interpretations of the Bible.
I recommend a site called The Skeptics Annotated Bible. Here is a list of the contractions in the Bible (and there are quite a few). -

Penn and Teller-Bull#$%@ and the End of the World
by CaptainSchmideo injust saw this episode on the dvd collection.
the nostradamus section was quite funny, especially when penn takes the song "the wheels of the bus go 'round and 'round", converts it into latin, and then uses it as prophecy of future events, like the great english train robbery, the montgomery bus boycott, and watergate.. they also showcased a nostradamus "scholar", who changed a page in a book from 1st edition to second edition when the ayatollah khomeini died before becoming the anti-christ.
does that sound familiar, changing pages in a book from one edition to the next?.

Juicy JW Stories too big to hush up!

the stories i am about to tell are factual, but the names have been changed to protect the guilty.. many years ago in a small neighboring town, there was a small mexican restaurant that was owned by a non jw who employed jw relatives and nonrelatives.
it was a popular place.

Elder A was "happily" married with 2 children. Sister B was "happily" married with 4 children. Sister B started having problems and Elder A was on the committee to help them. He also helped himself to her a few times. I remember one night during a meeting, virtually every elder ran out of the meeting. It seems Sister B's husband came home with Sister B and Elder A were helping each other. Only Sister B's husband was a former black belt. Elder A wasn't hurt, but I can just imagine his face when he walked in on them.
Anyway, they had worked out a plan. Get DF'd, get divorced, get married to each other, then come back as fine outstanding JW's. Well the years went by and they both reinstated and "happily" married. -

my boyfriend was first in line last night to get his grand theft auto-san andreas that he prepayed for in may and has been talking about for months.. i won't talk to him for like a month.. anyone know the average age when guys are supposed to grow out of this?.

As a funny follow-up to my previous post, GTA:SA has a CO-OP mode. I haven't played it, but it seem you can play as the main character and the other player as his girlfriend. Just think of the bonding experience seeing your virtual lives of beating people virtually and beating people up in reality coming together!

If you want a lesson in futility you can try giving him a relationship talk while he's playing.
On the other hand, my GF and I play Madden 2005 together. Its pretty fun and she's getting good. I guess the lesson is: if you can't get 'em, join 'em.
