???? A 100 grand for clothing? Clothing in Norway is cheaper than ever, since most of it is manufactured in Sri Lanka and other Asian countries.

Grunt is provoked by participants bashing Americans, and he wanted to hear my story. Here are a few selected highlights:

Some 20 years ago I spent a month on vacation in the US. It was really amazing. Partly, I was disappointed not to find the America of my imagination (made up by films, books and comics), but mostly, I loved to explore the country. Above all, Grand Canyon and the Indians in the reservates impressed me. I also enjoyed spotting details which were exactly as in the Donald Duck comics, like fire hydrants and mailboxes.

Just after the fall of the Berlin Wall, I travelled in Eastern Europe. I met an American student from Texas, a jew, and travelled with him from Berlin to Prague and Vienna. I appreciated his friendliness very much and followed him to certain Jewish memorial sites in Prague. I still remember how upset he was when I wanted to take a photo inside a Jewish restaurant where we shared the lunch (orthodox jews doesn't want to be photographed). We split in Vienna because he had enough of Eastern Europe, and I set off to Hungary and Croatia. Back in Austria, I met an American girl, also a jew, and spent a few days with her.

I visited Prague again in 2000 and visited the same jewish sites as I did 10 years before. I even attented the Shabbat ceremony in the 500 year old synagogue in Prague. It was a most amazing experience to spend nearly 3 hours with orthodox looking jews. I still remember the Rabbi's singing and massing as among the most beautiful I've ever heard.

So, I have some fascination for jews and Judaism. But, anyway, I believe the palestinian people should have their own country. It is not the palestinian people of today's fault what their fathers did wrong in 1948 or 1967. Israel did in fact occupy a part of Jordan in 1967, The West Bank, and this area was given from Jordan to the palestinians a few years back. Israel have no legal rights here.

I detest any terrorist, wheter Israeli or Palestine, i detest any who commits violent acts towards innocent civilians, I detest the powerful men who manipulate facts and feed us with propaganda. I support the innocent civilians who wants peace. Israel should withdraw fully, including the settlements, according to the UN charters, to the borders from before 1967.

i'm in need of advice:.

today a jw wrote an article in a norwegain newspaper about the pedofile catholic priests scandal in the us these days.

obviously, he enjoyed smearing them and argumented that the institution of celibacy was the root to the evil doings.. but, this jw is not personally very active - and he didn't mention anything jw-related in his article at all.

The original article written by Aksel Sæthre (Saethre) in "Bergens Tidende", Norway on April 26 seems not to be published on the Internet edition of the newspaper ( http://www.bt.no).

My reply is still not published in "Bergens Tidende" and I don't know if it will be.

It does! I have japanese bamboo in my garden. A few years back I grew corn in my garden - with success (but that summer was unusually fair).

It wasn't easy to see that he spoke of historical incidents all the way. And when I had problems with this, others will also have. Most of us read very quickly through these pages.

And he DID distort some facts about Quisling. These are the facts: 1) Most Norwegians detested Quisling during his regime, 2) he was never a hero after 1945, except among neo-nazis, 3) he was without authority in police matters, which includes the deportation of Norwegian jews, 4) no one in Norway knew the real destiny of the jews before the Allied victory.

I must reply to Grunt - his image of Norway is heavily distorted:

Climate: Only Northern Norway is arctic. Where I live, we rarely have snow during winter. The temperature is only slightly colder than, say Denmark, Germany or UK.

Sweden: Any Norwegian can freely take residence or work in Sweden if he thinks that is a better place. And vice versa. Some move, for a time, but not many.

Gypsies and Romani: Transgressions has been made by the Norwegian government, but that is history. For many years now, gypsies in Norway have had many special benefits, like free villas and Mercedes cars.

Sami (Lapps): Transgressions has been made, but again, that is history. Now, the Sami have their own parlament, their own programs on TV and radio, their own schoolbooks etc.

"Skin heads beating exchange students to death": I've never heard about this. Though, there have been some racial motivated murders recently.

"Kidnapping of children of minority groups only to be placed in government homes and abused or experimented on": This never happens today, but I've heard of such incidents back in the 50ies.

"Lobotomies and such performed on minority members": Same thing. Happened in the 50ies, but not any more.

"They are just finishing paying off the relatives of the Jews they helped the Nazis murder": That's true. But we find the similar pattern in most European countries.

"I guess we all have our Quislings in the closet. I guess he is among the most famous of Norwegians, though most have probably never heard of him. Had Benedict Arnold taken over and helped kill all the blacks in the USA I guess he would have been a blot as big as Norway's toady.": This is a gross distortion of history. The Germans occupied Norway in April 1940. The king and the Government fleed to England. Quisling and his right-wing party was sympathetic towards Germany and made an arrangement with Germany in order to establish a national goverment to ensure Norwegian interests. Without Quisling's efforts, the fate of Norway could easily have been much worse. But Quisling had no hand in the deportation of jews. This was handled by German officers and Norwegian police, which was directly controlled by the German occupant authorities. The Norwegians who parttook in this did not know anything about the true destiny of the jews; they were told that the jews only were relocated to a new home in Poland or Ukraine. After the Allied victory Quisling was made a scapegoat for all the transgressions made by the Germans and sentenced to death. In aftermath, the name "Quisling" became synonymos to "Judas" to most Norwegians. Now, Quisling is only recognized by historians and neo-nazis.

Personally, instead of picturing USA as a nation of JWs, I think that the lifestyle of modern Norway is a copy of the American lifestyle. Norway is flooded with American films, TV soap, games, toys, sigarettes, soft drinks, hamburgers, sports equipment and clothing. Young Norwegians include American words and slang in their vocabulary and don't even know the Norwegian equivalents.

Aksel Saethre wrote an article entitled "Krisemøtet i Vatikanet" ("The critical meeting in Vatican City") on April 26 in "Bergens Tidende" (www.bt.no). I was not able to spot the article in the Internet edition.

I'm in need of advice:

Today a JW wrote an article in a Norwegain newspaper about the pedofile catholic priests scandal in the US these days. Obviously, he enjoyed smearing them and argumented that the institution of celibacy was the root to the evil doings.

But, this JW is not personally very active - and he didn't mention anything JW-related in his article at all. His agenda is just to echo the critisism of christendom that originates from the WTS. Nothing more.

Should I write an article that addresses the prescence of pedofile scandals and cover-ups in other churces, including JW? Should I argue against his "celibacy is the root to the evil"-theory? (It must be wrong, at least not the whole truth, since child molestation is frequent even in non-celibacy churces.)

What is the most unBiblical teaching of the JWs?

it has been said that the jws hold to many beliefs that are unnsupported scripturally and inforce many 'unwritten' rules which they refer to as 'principles'.. i would like to start off the thread with what i think is the most important unbiblical teaching that they need to promote inorder to exist.. the watchtower teaches that "a prophet is able to make mistakes while he is speaking for god and still be considered as true.

mind you that these are not slips of the tounge but doctrines and predictions that have been promoted for years and have only been modified only after the watchtower had no choice but to change them.. this in my opinion is the most unscriptural teaching that the watchtower promotes.

if it werent for this teaching then the watchtower would most definately have to be marked as a false prophet!

1. That the whole salvation teaching of the New Testament is only for the 144,000. And that Christ is only a mediator for these.

2. That blood is more holy than life itself - even when blood is only a symbol of life. The concequence maybe sacrificing lives in order to respect the symbol of life. (How about respecting life itself?)

New light on Israel's role in Great Tribulation?

when the beast (un) is standing on holy ground (israel) the great tribulation will start.. this is only unconfirmed rumours right now, but has anyone heard this already?.

this is very actual now since un is discussing to send peace enforcement troops to israel/palestine - if not george w. sets his foot down in the un security council.

This is only unconfirmed rumours right now, but has anyone heard this already?

This is very actual now since UN is discussing to send peace enforcement troops to Israel/Palestine - if not George W. sets his foot down in the UN Security Council.
