At this summers district assembly, a new book was released. Worship the Only True God. Two chapters puzzles me:
1) Chapter 13, A Great Crowd in front of Jehovahs Throne
The chapter plainly states that the Great Crowd is not in heaven, since this class is not the same as the 144,000. No arguing. Nothing about the temple sanctuary or its courtyards. Only a brief reference to their rendering sacred service day and night (In the Biblical context, as I see it, sacred service can only be rendered by priests, inside the priestly courtyard or inside the temple sanctuary.)
Why is nothing more said? Is this a way of disconnecting old teachings and preparing for new light in the future?
2) Chapter 14, How is Jehovah directing his Organization?
The chapter briefly describes three dogmatic concepts:
a. The history of the 144,000 and its remnant of today
b. The faithful and discreet slave and its activities of 1914/1919
c. The Governing Body and todays top-down organization
What puzzles me is that NOTHING is said about any relationship between any of these concepts. They DONT state that the remnant is equal to the slave class. They DONT say that the GB is representing neither the remnants nor the slave class. Only that the members of GB are spirit anointed brothers.
Again, why is nothing more said? Again, is this a way of disconnecting something and let old teachings fade away?
To me, its a parody when the introduction to the book states its purpose: The Bible encourages everyone that loves God, to grasp height and depth of his precious Truths. (Eph 3:18)
i just had a marvellous week in oslo and will rank the activities i took part in, most fun on top of list, least at bottom:
celebrating the soccer world cup victory with the brazilians in the streets of oslo.
spontaneous wild partying with costumes and samba.
I just had a marvellous week in Oslo and will rank the activities I took part in, most fun on top of list, least at bottom:
1 Celebrating the soccer World Cup victory with the Brazilians in the streets of Oslo. Spontaneous wild partying with costumes and samba. Some climbed cars that accidentally were in the wrong streets and the street car (tram) railway was totally blocked.
2 Gay Pride Parade. A few thousand participants, including an anarchist leader (Stein Lillevolden) and the Norwegian Minister of Finance.
3 The massive demonstration against The World Bank, which hold its annual meeting in Oslo last week. About 12.000 participants and no trace of violence as the police expected.
4 A strip club. Especially a young, pretty woman with piercing down there who placed her nipple on my lips for free.
5 Everything else.
6 The JW District Convention. Very dull. (And they held their public speech just when Brazil and Germany played the final soccer W.C. match in Japan. I think lots of the JWs wanted to be at a pub with TV instead.)
at june 24, the former editor of "bergens tidende", the main newspaper of bergen, norway, wrote an article about jw versus nazi-germany.
obviously, he has recently seen one of the videos from wts about the issue.
the article stated that jw was the only church that raised their voice in protest against the "crystal night" in 1938, when the nazis ravaged jewish synagoges, shops and homes and sent thousands of jews to consentration camps.
dungbeetle,
Please tell us where we can find it, when it's there.

OldHippie,
I don't have access to older magazines than the '50-ies. Can anyone help with relevant quotes?
I belive that that the brochure "Facism and Freedom", which contains Rutherfords speech of October 2, 1938, will have at least a few passages condemning the nazi persecution of jews. But this speech was a month before the Crystal Night.

I watched the "Stand Firm" video again.
The video stated that Rutherford held his radio broadcasted speech
"Fascism and Freedom" at October 2, 1938. Rutherford was quoted on a
few passages where he critizises the nazi prosecution of jews.
Just after this, the video tells us about the Crystal Night, which
took place at November 10, 1938. Even if everything is correct, the
occasional viewer may get the impression that Rutheford and JW were
very active in their critizism against the persecution of jews.
And the newspaper editor I told you about really got this impression.
Seems like manipulation to me.
how many of us xdubs are glb or t?
(gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender).
this weekend i'll be celebrating with friends and "family" over burgers and beer!
I went directly from the JW district assembly to the Gay Pride Parade in Oslo. A loooot more fun! The party factor was very high. (But I think some parents by the side didn't enjoy the trucks loaded with young boys and girls drinking beer and dancing.)
A well-known anarchist leader participated, as well as the Norwegian Minister of Finance, and about 2 - 3,000 others.
Some kids were highly amused by a clown, running among the kids on the sidewalk and shouting "homo!" (The theme for this weeks festival was "HomoCircus" and took place in a circus tent.)

Thanks, dungbeetle, for refreshing my memory. I think that you are absolutely correct.
think about this:
in case you should go to heaven, in what way would you like god to welcome you?
George Bush wants God to welcome him this way: - At your service, mr. President! The dyke wants God to welcome him this way: - Virgin Mary is waiting for you! The Pope wants God to welcome him this way: - Virgin Mary is waiting for you! The gay man wants God to welcome him this way: - Ohhh, my God! Is that youuu? (waving his hand with a loose wrist, like a fairy) The atheist wants God to welcome him this way: - Surprise! .... See you in the bar! We have a lot to talk about. The JW wants God to welcome him this way: - 143,999 ..... The we miss only you! The Satanist wants God to welcome him this way: - You can apply for relocation in the lobby. The alcoholic wants God to welcome him this way: - What do you want to drink? The suicidal wants God to welcome him this way: - You did the right thing! Please welcome this bonus ....
