  While we were serving in Chiba, a new headquarters for Jehovah's Witnesses in Japan was under construction in Ebina. My wife and I drove there once a week to care for the health of the Witness volunteers building this facility, called Bethel. After a few months, we received an invitation to serve at Ebina Bethel full-time. Thus, in March 1981 we began living in the temporary buildings used to house over 500 volunteer workers. In the morning, I helped clean the construction site bath and toilets, and in the afternoon I did medical checkups

  they took a dr they admired that was out there and could HELP the rank and file with surgeries and relieve the pressure on regular jw's to accept blood and brought him to bethel TO CLEAN TOILETS??? good grief.

  BACK PAIN IS A PAIN!!!!

  can anyone relate?

  i have been suffering from back pain for about a year now.

  the pain gets so bad, so intense i start vomiting.

  try to get an MRI scan done.. it can tell if something is pressing agains nerve sacs within your vertabrae.

  its not something they can tell by examining you on a table. i sympathise..back pains are a pain in above the arse.

  this si so sad.

  i wish the story were more detailed as to where the grandmother was.

  i would never leave a child that age alone let alone with a dog..

  sounds like those kids are doing their best to do right.. working ..obviously at jobs that they couldnt afford child care ( whole nuther BIG issue) . my heart goes out to them.

  Job Description for a G.B. member?

  having explained to my "ever loving" how you do not need money to live like a millionaire, i get told that nobody in the world works as hard as the members of the governing body.

  their schedule of writing tasks, world travel and giving talks at conventions and assemblies is exhausting because it is never ending.

  they never have time to draw breath before their next assignment and their busy schedules would kill many people half their age.. is this correct?

  Interesting conversation with a well known Elder in Brooklyn

  on my way home last night from work i ran into a prominent elder from brooklyn.

  this guy is always featured at circuit assemblies and his family was presented as the model witiness family in the 80's.

  well imagine my shock and surprise when i realized that this dub had just bought a lottery ticket.

  in Mary's post.... she forgot to add,

  6:00am - get up, get ready and go leave for work by 7:15am at the latest depending on how far you comute to work (read text)

  8:20 - 5:00pm - work (FIND ways to" informal witness")

  6:00pm arrive home from work, eat supper. If it's a meeting night, you get to eat, shower, change and leave for the meeting by 7:00pm

  7:00pm - 9:30pm - Meeting (take a nap during brother borings talk)

  10:00pm - arrive home and go to bed. (study preperation, personal study, personal bible reading, study with kids,)

  This schedule doesn't even include the wife's schedule of all of the above, plus they have to find time to pay the bills, spend SOME time with the kids, grocery shop, do laundry, do housekeeping, prepare breakfasts, lunches and suppers.

  dont forget adding at least 10 hours of service a month in there somewhere if your not gonna be considered "weak"

  I don't want to live forever on the earth

  i have come to the conclusion that i do not want to live forever.

  tomorrow would never come, i would not do it because i could do it tomorrow, or tomorrow or tomorrow.

  time would cease to exist as there would be no need to keep track of things.

  i'd love to live forever if i could stay young and healthy. and could keep cable and internet and cell phone and microwave..! lol

  really though, i always thought as a jw i would probably NEVER DIE and in my mind i just dont think i'll ever die. which is nuts..hence my name.. but yeah i would find living forever attractive. theres so much in life to be thankful for and so much in life to DO that i havent done yet. i'd love to see my great great great great great grandkids grow up and have kids of their own. have my parents live forever too. the world will definitely be a darker place if/when they go.

  one thing thats going on now.. my car died and i havent been able to drive the 2 hours to see my kids in months, my internet girlfriends i've had for 7 yrs have gotten a few hundred bux together to help me buy a car. ( now i just gota find a 500 dollar car lol)

  another one i can remember is when my ex cheated and i was spending my days at work bawling all day, my work mates shut the store down at lunch one day just to take me to lunch and distract me. (that was awesome and i was shocked that " worldly" people would do something so nice)

  my parents have always been kind and supportive. once after my divorce when i was broker than broke my mom (knowing i wouldnt take any money cuz they are on fixed income) showed up with some groceries that were beyond NEEDED and saved my life lol. (i know i wasnt gonna starve but i was HUNGRY!)

  The kindest of all is the fact that i have friends now. i PRAYED and begged god the last 15 yrs i was a jw to please please please give me a friend. now i have several!

  if they build it they can sell the property for a higher price. they are scaling the brooklyn stuff down so you know they dont NEED these buildings. only other reason is to make mo money.

  Why does God need to be worshiped?

  just curious about this question today and wondered if anyone else has pondered this.. is worship meant to be a reverent show of appreciation for life that god imparts to individuals?

  if that's the case, and someone - by the mere accident of their birth - has a truly crappy life, why should these people worship god or show him "appreciation" for their unfortunate circumstances?

  why should anyone who endures hardships worship god, particularly if they have been worshiping god and then all of a sudden a heap of trouble just plops into their lives, unannounced and unwelcome??.

does the reasoning book have a "worship" section?
