Do NOT go to college, system is coming to an end, EVEN in 1969!!!!!
by Jez inif you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that.
you will never grow old in this present system of things... .all evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years... as a young person you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.
if you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career.

Once again in this organization it depends on who you are if you can go to college or not! My cousin is back in school for a teaching degree I think and that all seems fine. Of course her dad is an uber elder in the North Seattle area and she has recently come back to the JW's after never going for it since she was 15 and she's 35 now! Baptised a year a ago. but her dad is somewhat rich and successful and I don't think he would give any flack since she's just newly back in the fold. And I find it funny she would choose teaching, that is very much a worldly profession but maybe she thinks she's going to teach at Walkill or some crap! -

Theories on the increasing appearances of the new GB aide?
by Lemonp ini have noticed that younger guy appearing more and more on jw tv and in special talks.
can't remember his name but he is middle aged, greying, but has a business exec look about him.. is this guy the next gen of gb members?
or is he just an aide to help them about etc?

Keep an eye out for the name Jonathan Swanzey too, he's being groomed for big things in the inner circle! He's married to my cousin and they fly all over the world checking on the branches and whatever else they do. Always see pictures of them being wined and dined by the locals. Boy they drink a lot! -

How long do JW study the bible with someone? Until baptism?
by Lynnie ini have a 35 year old cousin who got baptized last year after rejecting the jw since she was 13. not sure what happened to change her mind, i suspect it's all about family since her dad is an elder and her two sisters are very much in.
her oldest sister is married to a middle management guy in bethel.
so she studied for about 2 years until she decided to get baptised.

Now I see she posted that she's having her bible study with so and so the same person she studied with prior to baptism. I didn't think JW's continued to conduct bible studies with people after they get baptised. I'm sure it's being counted as a bible study and someone is getting hours for it. So is this the latest trend? -

How many here gave up having a family for the sake of the "truth"?
by stuckinarut2 inthis is a sensitive topic for many of us i know, but i am wondering how many here actually gave up the idea of having a family "in this system" for the sake of "kingdom activity or service"??.
start the count here with my wife and i.

Funny as usual it depends on who you are in the org and if you decide to follow that "advice" of no kids! My uber elder cousin couldn't figure out the birth control thing after he got married and they ended up having 3 kids very close together and then his wife finally got her tubes tied. HA! Several couples that I used to know had kids all in the '80's and basically ignored the advice of the org which I found very interesting! But that is still the party line, wait until the new system to have kids..... -

So I just talked with my JW mom and of course she had a very busy weekend with the memorial and then Sunday meeting. Then she said that she went to a hospitality hour after the Sunday meeting. Has anyone heard of this? Apparently they do it by groups and someone offers up their house and people come and eat and probably drink too! I've never known them to be so organized for something like that. I know that people do that on their own among their own little cliques like going out for drinks after the memorial. And I've always wondered why the Kingdom Hall can't possibly have a kitchen and an area for people to have coffee or brunches or whatever. Most churches have some sort of facility like that. Then people could stay after the meeting and have coffee or whatever and socialize. Of course most people probably just want to get home as soon as they possibly can! -

Assembly in Seattle this weekend?
by Lynnie indoes anyone know about an assembly or convention or whatever they call it now in the seattle-tacoma area in the last couple of weeks?
i have a ditzy cousin who posts on fb that the assembly was "promoting peace and the sun.
i'm sure they were really promoting money and the gb but my cousin is so newly brainwashed she has her own twist on everything.

Well my cousin acts like a hippie, hiking all the time, always in the woods. She was born in and never went for it until her early 30's when her grandma died and now she's the uber witness that her elder father is oh so proud of. She's VERY popular now in the org and seems to do whatever she wants, almost a double life. Even went overnight camping with single male and female friends and no chaperone! WTF? But yeah I was wondering what convention she went to that proclaims "peace and the sun." HA! JW's do not promote peace at all! -

I'm sure they were really promoting money and the GB but my cousin is so newly brainwashed she has her own twist on everything. Oh and she's an elder's daughter that really doesn't have to play by the rules but does whatever and people just fawn all over her! Puke!!! -

JW's and the care of the elderly
by Lynnie ini've been df'd for 35 years and my uber pioneer mother is getting on in years, 84 to be exact and starting to have signs of dementia and the social worker is worried that she can't be left alone at all anymore.
she just had her second hip replaced and is in rehab.
my uber elder cousin is the power of attorney since my mom was told i couldn't be trusted since i'm df'd.

Funny how the rules can become so "flexible" when an elder is applying them! Now that this situation with my aging mother is getting more serious and her care is in question they have no problem thinking they can just dump this all on me even though my elder cousin still has the power of attorney. I'm going to step back and let them do whatever. I'll visit my mom in assisted care wherever she lands but I'm not helping with the decision making of where! They didn't want my input for 35 years why now??? He could have changed the POA to me 8 years ago if he didn't want to take responsibility and told my mom I should be the one to do it but he didn't! Now that he's dealing with his aging wealthy non witness dad there's "no time" for his aging aunt that is poor! '
