counting time
by Sabin inyesterday jw knocked on my door, i was sitting in the office with the window right next to it, they couldn't see me & i decided not to answer.
they stood there for what seemed ages & as i watched something hit me.
they were here only because they were on the territory.

Yes it's truly amazing how the pioneers are so interested in "counting time" but can't stop by elderly witness ladies who have given their whole life to the stupid cult. My mom is elderly and had some health issues earlier this year with a hip replacement and when she came home she was a little forgetful and she doesn't drive etc so my uber elder cousin (she's his aunt) and his wife thought I should get a day off of my full time job every week in order to go care for her.(Ive been DF'd for 40 years) She wasn't in a wheel chair or anything just needs some company and perhaps someone to help her with meals a little and take her to the store. I asked how come the pioneers couldn't help out since they were out driving around anyway and I was told in no uncertain terms that they were "stretched too thin" and "it wasn't their responsibility to help with their elderly members." OMG! So now my mom on a fixed income has to pay an agency 3 afternoons a week to come and help her and she's on a fixed income!!! My elder cousin is well off as well because of his non witness dad giving him several rental properties way back when. So yeah can't count time so no help for the elderly that really need it. I hate these people! So they can waste their time and gas driving around bugging people that don't want them but their own members they can't help out at all! -

Name Things You Can't Do If You Are JW...or not supposed to do
by minimus inwitnesses are not supposed to stand for the national anthem but can stand for a flag salute.. you can't say bless you if someone sneezes, good luck!, or " you too" if someone says, happy holidays.. it is a religion of cannot dos.
everything is pagan and worldly.. what are things that are unacceptable to jehovah's witnesses that really are no big deal to everyone else?
?.

Yes it depends on who you are and your status in the org and that will determine what you can and cannot do! Seattle seems to be very liberal in that area, people are always doing 1/2 marathons, going to various rock concerts, celebrating New Year's Eve on that actual day. yes you can do what you want as long as you have an elder as a parent or are in with the cool crowd.

Uber Bethelites in Brazil
by Lynnie inso i see my uber cousins from bethel are flying around the world again, this time in brazil to instruct the brothers on construction purchases in central and south america!
lots of pics with them partying with locals and being wined and dined, something the rank and file will never know!

Yeah these cousins aren't doing missionary work at all! More like sales meetings and being taken out to the best steak houses in Brazil. I guess you don't need money if you are in the upper ranks of the WTBTS! I'm sure my cousin's dad sends money to both of them as well! Unbelievable! -

Name "UNWRITTEN" Rules That JWs Are Supposed To Follow
by minimus inas with the scribes and pharisees, there are a number of unwritten rules that witnesses are supposed to follow.
here's a couple : "worldly" kids in society depictions are shown quite often wearing their baseball caps backwards.
jehovah's witness youths would not want to imitate that "look".

We weren't supposed to go to rock concerts and worldly music of any kind was bad 35 years ago. However that "unwritten rule" seems to have gone by the wayside here in Seattle! JW's are always going to music festivals here and I suspect most that are going are elders kids since they seem to have a free pass.

People who study for years ??
by Clambake inin my cong ( my wives cong.
) there is a lady who attends every meeting , minus the field service just like a regular dub.
it just seems odd she has not taken the dip yet.

Lynnie
Yes I was wondering that lately as well. Back in the early 70's if people didn't "progress" you were supposed to stop studying with them. But these days I think they just want the seats filled at the Kingdom Hall not matter what. My cousin (born-in) who left the org for many years decided to go back in her early 30's and studied for 2 years! I think it was more for attention than anything else!!! -

Local Elders whip the Congregation into a frenzy about donating to the Organization
by James Jack inbecause of the may broadcast about how funds are down, our elders have been in their talks "encouraging" or pressuring everyone to donate more to the world wide work.. it freaks me out how we already give them a set amount of $600 a month, plus what is contributed by the congregation(usually $400 to $500 a month).
heck, our local congregation bank account even got below $500 for the first time this past may since i have been doing the accounts(4 years now).
for june, we raised a whopping $2400 to send into the branch.. the most amazing part, is that only a select few contribute on a regular basis every month.

Here in Seattle we have lots of rich JW's that are always traveling and spending money on themselves and I wonder how much those people actually contribute to the congregation. I'm sure it's not much at all since they are so busy going on trips to exotic lands. Wonder how that goes over? But being a rich JW always puzzled me too since it goes against what the org says but of course these people seem to get a free pass! Oh and they do keep their money to themselves too, not very generous at all or at least the ones I'm acquainted with. -

Do JWs Really Listen To The Elders And The Governing Body?
by minimus inthere are a few hardcore believers that will do whatever they are told to do but i think a majority do whatever they decide to do.
they are not coerced into anything.
they publicly work along with the program but in reality, do whatever they want to do.. i think the leaders have their hands full..

Yes I know of several JW's here in Seattle that really do whatever they want, get tattoos, go on vacations with other JW couples when they are supposed to be at conventions, hang out with worldly family members, attend all sorts of music venues and never get harassed by the elders. One of them is an elder's daughter so we know those kids have a free pass but otherwise it's just amazing to me how much they all seem to engage in worldly activities with no consequences!

Strange but Sad!
by John Aquila ini had a couple of elders come visit me about an hour ago.
they wanted to inform me that a brother who was well known throughout the circuit had died.
(i actually knew about it but did not go to the funeral) he was about to hit 90 years old, missed it by a few weeks.

They will most certainly contact you if they need help with caregiving or money for your aging parent(s). And make it seem like it's the most normal thing in the world to act like that! But any other common courtesy forget it! -

Do NOT go to college, system is coming to an end, EVEN in 1969!!!!!
by Jez inif you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that.
you will never grow old in this present system of things... .all evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years... as a young person you will never fulfill any career that this system offers.
if you are in high school and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career.

Once again in this organization it depends on who you are if you can go to college or not! My cousin is back in school for a teaching degree I think and that all seems fine. Of course her dad is an uber elder in the North Seattle area and she has recently come back to the JW's after never going for it since she was 15 and she's 35 now! Baptised a year a ago. but her dad is somewhat rich and successful and I don't think he would give any flack since she's just newly back in the fold. And I find it funny she would choose teaching, that is very much a worldly profession but maybe she thinks she's going to teach at Walkill or some crap!
