some people drink a certain beer because they really find that it's the best tasting beer on the market, while others drink what their friends or spouse drinks and see no difference, no matter what beer they drink.. when i first started drinking beer when i was in my teens, i drank what my parents had at home.
free beer .
honestly, i used to drink labatts but a friend initiated me to budlight, and i really love that beer now.
RED Beer, anyone? AKA Tomato Beer. YUM YUM YUM. In a big frosted stein,
about 1/3 tomato juice or tom juice cocktail...filled up with your favorite CERVEZA!
Anyone ever had this, or is it a Midwest thang??
AJ, Who should be working but is dying for a brew right now!

Too bad he is missing out on such a "great" big brother who cares enough to put it in words.
Have you ever written him your thoughts?

Hubby's Home brew gets my vote! Whatever 'flavor' he decides to do...the history,
just a good friend who taught him the process. We go to annual Oktoberfest in this
friend's backyard, home-made pretzels, bierocks & brew...everyone brings their own
and we have a tasting and crowning of the King or Queen ! YUM!
one of my biggest pet peeves at the k.h.
was when i would see those not in the right clique get forgotten.
so easily they would slip between the cracks.
I have learned something today, too late, but I HAVE learned. The story:
My husband's bachelor uncle, the only JW in his family, living alone in our small community. When my MIL was alive, she included him in family activities. However, it has been years since we actually interacted with him, other than a wave on the street or a hello, how are you at the grocery store.
We knew his health was not good, but did we bother to check on him? No. We knew he was a loner, but did we bother to call him? No. He died, having a good JW friend who looked in on him toward the end. This was his best friend in the world, the man who brought him into the JW cult. But, a better person than we, regardless of his religion. He cared enough to look in on his friend. We turned our heads in ignorance and selfishness.
Today we were the ones, among a handful of other relatives, who cleaned up his mice infested trailer which should not have been inhabited by any human. We were the ones...who tried to gather up the few belongings he had that were of any value, to pass on to his out of state sister. Who shed tears of guilt for not being there for this person, this old sad man who always had a smile for everybody.
It is a sad lesson of life. We can talk all we want about loving our fellow man, but do we practice what we preach? I pray to God that I am guided to change from this day on.
Thanks for this posting this subject, it just brought this all to a head for me.

interesting, in searching out info on sjw, this guy had this great website about his former jw girlfriend and her strange beliefs!
pretty funny!

Good idea, Brenda! Isn't it funny how he put the pix and told the whole story? He should post here, will be fun to see if he does!

hi, i posted earlier "taking bets" about the jws serving a funeral dinner for my jw aunt in the local presby church.
the majority of those who answered was right...no, they are not able to do that, surprize surprize!
we are having our own family dinner in my uncle's home.
Well we made it thru the service. To the elder's credit, he was a sincere good friend to Auntie, and very emotional. I know they (he and his wife) really cared about her money. No, I shouldn't say that....I truly did feel his sadness.
He said a few good words then got into the propaganda. We are all sinners, thanks to Adam. blah blah. I had my Bible (never have taken it to a funeral before)...and read along in Romans, would like to have raised my hand and asked him to continue on, because it got pretty good, about the everlasting life Christ has for ALL of us, etc. Oh well...
Cousin did not sing at the service but sang at the dinner, which ended up being in the Methodist church hall, so NO JW's attended, god forbid.
I was happy to do some anti-JW educating at the table...about the 144,000; the Memorial (No one had heard of it)...the flip flopping. Seems he had boxes of old literature, I told a close cousin that I would love to have the hard bound books. They invited me to come and slip out what I wanted, but they had already told the elder in charge he was welcome to have them. If they'd only known more at the time, they said they would have burned them.
well me and my b.f met a year ago through mutual friends at a rock concert in london...we clicked instantly and i was very attracted to him as id never met someone so nice who i got on with that well i liked at the same time.
an over the next few months saw each other a few times but only as friends as we lived on opposite ends of the country....we stayed in touch via text.
then the texts gradually faded out.
"He goes funny and avoids the subject"...Sorry, hon, but this is typical JW behavior, esp of young men.
He wants his cake and eat it too but the GUILT he has been laden with by the teachings of the JW cult overpower him.
He will avoid it as long as he can, he probably really wants to stay with you, but he is guided by Jehobah and a screwed up bunch of followers.
By the way, Welcome! Stay around and you will learn a lot.
(run while you can, my daughter was in a relationship like this and the stress she put herself through was horrible)
