When you are asked for your user id don't type in the name you are known as. Example " IwillBeDubbedNoMore" Instead you need to type in your e-mail address that you signed up on JWD with. I hope this helps

Horrible conduct by congregation Elders at my cousin's funeral.............
by RULES & REGULATIONS inmy cousin passed away last week from cancer at the age of 49. the cancer spread so fast it took our family by surpise.
we figured she had a couple of years instead of months.
she left 4 children(3 were baptised and 1 was disfellowshipped a couple of years ago).

Pioneer Hour Requirements Not Changing
by Joker10 ini was told this morning by my parents that the circuit overseer told everyone in the congregation that certain rumor, the change in hour requirements for pioneers is not being lowered.
he mentioned he got this information from the governing body.
he advised everyone to stop believing in rumors!

This is very sad news to me. My nephew is pioneering while attending college full time. I was looking forward to him having more time for himself. Perhaps they will change it next year.

Is it now safe to say the pioneer hour reduction rumor was a hoax?
by neverendingjourney inas far as i know, there's been nothing new on this front.
i first heard the rumor over the summer, and most of us assumed the change would be implemented in september, the beginning of the service year, yet nothing's happened.
should we admit to being deceived, or is there some reason to believe the reduction of hours is coming soon, sort of like armageddon..

After all the talk about it here on this forum I had mentioned the reduction of hours to my sister. My nephew is a pioneer and I said how that would make his life a little easier. Thankfully, he is going to college while he is pioneering. She wasn’t at all surprised by what I said. In fact she told me it wasn’t suppose to happen until January. So both her and my nephew are of the belief that it will happen in January. I spoke to her about this in October. Haven’t discussed it since.

When my sister and I were young. Her around 11 and me 14 we studied with my aunt. Afterwards we both decided and told our mother that we didn’t want to celebrate Christmas anymore. Our mother never pushed any religious belief on us. She allowed us the freedom to choose for ourselves so we stopped Christmas. Every year my sister and I would not receive any presents and my Aunt would buy my cousins( her children) winter recess presents. It always seemed like Christmas presents to me. It has always been a sore point with my sister and I.
My mother loved the holidays and I know she missed celebrating them. The one holiday that she was able to continue was Thanksgiving. She would invite everyone over for a meal because they all had the day off. She always made a turkey with all the trimmings. As long as you didn’t call it celebrating it was ok. Later on when one of my cousins married a diehard and turned down the invitation so that she wouldn’t stumble anyone( Who"). My mom changed the day of invite to Friday. So that was our new Thanksgiving day.
My mom has since past. This Thanksgiving we ate at a cousins house on Thanksgiving Day. He is an elder and we had both Turkey and ham. But it wasn’t a thanksgiving celebration. We ate turkey because it was on sale.

Blood Issue took my mom last night
by rwagoner inafter years of fighting a physical disability that ended in kidney failure and several bouts of respiratory/cardiac arrestmy mom landed in the hospital last week.
the doc's said she needed heart surgery and kidney transplants but before they could operate they need to get her blood count back up.
it had fallen well below what her body could naturally restore on its own she she needed transfusions.

I am so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you.
I know the pain you are feeling. I lost my mother in 1995 because of refusing a transfusion. She needed an operation and during which there was a lot of bleeding. My family and I stood by for a day and half watching her slowly pass away. She most likely would be here today if she had had a transfusion at the time. I don’t know if I can ever forgive myself for her death. I wish I had the information then that I have now about the Society and their teachings. I was the one that my mother chose to make decisions for her when she could not. So, I was the one who told the doctors no blood. It pains me that I was so foolish. Many good people have lost their lives because of this horrible religion.

Hey Lurkers in the forum:
by Cheetos inhey lurkers those of you who used to use your own brain in the past do you ever miss thinking for yourself's on major situations rather than running to elders or scrambling to read wt articals.
hey did you forget it feels good.
there is this elder in our family he comes to drop off the magazines to my mom here at my house you would think as a holly elder he would not be rude by stopping and saying hello to my mom who is still an active jw, but he won't even set foot in the house becase as you can see i have a beard and don't go to meetings anymore i'm telling yeh now that is christian.. think of one major thing in you life that you can decide for youself that probley will get you into trouble if you decide for yourself, i can't.

I for one consider myself a lurker. I haven’t been to a meeting since December 2001, but I have only commented a handful of times on this forum. Perhaps a few or perhaps many lurkers are like me. We enjoy sitting at the back of the figurative auditorium of this forum and instead of wanting to participate we just want to sit back and listen. We have spent many years in Kingdom Halls being told that we must participate and it sure is nice not to have to anymore. So, if like me you enjoy reading the various subjects and comments of others but prefer to sit back and not participate, then please continue doing so.
If on the other hand as you read and learn and feel the desire to add a comment here and there, please do so. This forum serves the needs of many people in many ways.

Goodbye to JWD ... hello to JWN !
by Simon inas i announced some time ago, jwd as it is will not continue .... ... but .... it's clear from people's comments that they do like the site and many would like it or something else like it to continue.. one issue was the forum software that was self-developed and not really in a good state to hand-over to anyone but i've been working on that and can now reveal the first release of what will probably be called jwn (son of jwd):.
http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/.
it is still work-in-progress so not all features are enabled yet but it will allow you to browse the site in a similar way to this one and it is pointing at the same database (although because of the way the caching works, new posts made on this site won't appear immediately).
